What Is Better Proposals? Proposals, Signatures and Payment

By Joris van Huët · Better Proposals's own site

The short answer: if you send more than 10 proposals a month, or more than one person sends them, Better Proposals' Starter plan is already too small: it allows one user and 10 sends a month. Premium, at $21 per user a month billed annually, lifts that to 50 sends and unlimited users, and adds CRM integrations, a custom domain and expiry dates.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Before you choose a plan:

  1. Count last quarter's proposals. For example, 36 proposals in three months is 36 / 3 = 12 a month, over Starter's 10 on the pricing page. A re-send of the same document does not count, per the sending limit article.
  2. Start from the proposal you already send; the Document Importer brings in a Word file.
  3. Write down two numbers to beat: days from sending to signature, and how many proposals are signed at all.

What Better Proposals does

A proposal is a web page, not a PDF: a template with sections, a pricing table and one acceptance block, sent as a link, per the new document guide. The pricing table can offer packages as choices, force a choice before signing, and carry optional extras the client ticks, per the packages guide.

Signing and paying happen in one sitting. With Stripe connected, the client pays the moment they sign: a fixed amount, a share of the one-off total, the one-off total plus the first month, or the first month only, per the Stripe guide.

Tracking shows when each recipient opened, forwarded or signed, the order of the pages they read and the time on each, per the tracking guide.

There is no AI writer inside the app. On Premium and Enterprise, an MCP server and CLI let Claude, Cursor or another MCP client create a proposal from your templates for you to review before sending, per the AI page.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits agencies, consultants and service firms that sell with a written proposal and a deposit, and want the document, signature and first payment in one link. It suits less well a team that only wants signatures on existing PDFs, where a dedicated e-signature tool is the simpler buy.

What it costs, checked on 24 October 2026

Per user per month, in USD, on the Better Proposals pricing page:

PlanBilled annuallyBilled monthlyUsers and sends
Starter$13$191 user, 10 sends a month
Premium$21$29Unlimited users, 50 sends a month
Enterprise$42$49Unlimited users and sends

Nudge, the follow-up add-on, costs $10 per user a month, and custom template design starts at $1,495, on the same pricing page. The 14-day trial needs no card, and its first send counts against the allowance even if it goes to yourself, per the test document guide; the trial is built to get a real proposal out, so make the first one real.

Against Proposify and Qwilr

Proposify's Build plan is $39 per user a month billed annually, or $49 monthly, with unlimited documents and signatures, per its pricing page; unlimited sends at that price is the point against Better Proposals' 50 on Premium. Qwilr's Starter plan is $35 billed annually or $49 monthly, and its Growth plan, annual only, starts at five seats, per its pricing page; for a small team the seat minimum matters more than the price.

Getting started

How to use Better Proposals takes one proposal from template to signature and payment.

FAQ

Are Better Proposals signatures legally binding in the EU?

The eIDAS Regulation, Article 25 on EUR-Lex, says an electronic signature cannot be denied legal effect only because it is electronic; only a qualified electronic signature has the same effect as a handwritten one. Check which your contract needs.

Can I edit a proposal after sending it?

Yes, until it is signed, per the editing guide; after that it is locked.

Do I need to countersign?

No. The countersigning article says only the client's approval is needed; add yourself as a recipient if company rules require your signature.
