What Is Fathom Analytics? Cookieless Stats Billed by Pageview

By Joris van Huët · Fathom Analytics's own site

The short answer: if your sites together stay under 100,000 pageviews and events a month and you want analytics that sets no cookies, Fathom's entry tier at $15 a month covers up to 50 sites (monthly billing, checked on 26 October 2026 on the pricing page). Fathom Analytics is a paid, cookieless alternative to Google Analytics from an independent Canadian company: one dashboard of pages, referrers, campaigns and conversion events, for marketing teams and agencies that want answers without building reports.

Before you pick a tier:

  1. Add the events to the pageviews. Custom events and API requests draw on the same allowance, per the pricing FAQ. For example, 85,000 pageviews plus 20,000 signup and click events is 105,000, past the $15 tier and onto the $25 tier for 200,000.
  2. Bring the GA4 history you already have. The importer copies daily GA4 data at no extra charge, but no GA events, and a large import can take up to 48 hours.
  3. Compare definitions before totals. Fathom resets unique visitors daily and filters bots harder than GA4 (note on differing stats), so the totals will not match.

What Fathom counts, and how

The dashboard is one page of visitors, pages, referrers, countries, UTMs and events, and any number you click filters the rest (how Fathom works). Events can carry a value, so purchases show as a sales total. An AI tab lists visits from ChatGPT, Claude and other assistants (changelog), beside Search Console data, email reports and an API.

Counting without cookies has a shape. Fathom hashes each request with the site's identity and a salt that rotates at midnight UTC, so one person on two days is two visitors (salts and hashes). EU visitors' IP addresses are stripped on servers inside the EU before the anonymised record reaches Fathom's main servers in the United States (data isolation).

Where it fits

It suits a marketing lead or an agency running several content or lead-generation sites, since every plan includes 50. It suits less well a team whose budget runs through Google Ads bidding, as Fathom's GA4 comparison concedes, or whose buyers take a week to decide.

"No cookie banner" is the vendor's statement about its own script. The EDPB's Guidelines 2/2023 read the ePrivacy storage-and-access rule as reaching past cookies, with exemptions possible, so ask your counsel; the banner still covers every other tag.

Plans by pageviews

USD, monthly billing, checked on 26 October 2026 on the pricing page. Pageviews and custom events share one allowance across all sites.

Monthly pageviews and eventsPrice a month
Up to 100,000$15
Up to 200,000$25
Up to 500,000$45
Up to 1,000,000$60
Up to 10,000,000$200
Over 25,000,000Custom

Yearly billing gives two months free; extra sites cost $10 a month per 50. There is no free plan, and spikes are not charged (limits guide).

The 7-day trial starts on a card and becomes the plan you selected unless you cancel, so doing nothing is the purchase. Use the week as a free test instead: script beside GA4, the import running, one conversion event, and a decision date in the calendar before the first charge.

Next to GA4 and Plausible

Google Analytics. Free of charge and joined to Google's ad products. If bidding depends on your analytics, GA4 stays and Fathom becomes the simpler second view.

Plausible. Its plans start at $9 a month for 10,000 pageviews on one site, with a 30-day trial and no card, and all data processed on European-owned servers in the EU. Choose it to keep the whole journey in the EU; choose Fathom for 50 sites from $15.

First steps

How to use Fathom Analytics takes one job, signups per campaign, from the script to a weekly CRM check.

FAQ

Does Fathom have a free plan?

No. The pricing page offers a 7-day trial with a card and a live demo dashboard.

Can I bring my Google Analytics history?

GA4 history, yes; Universal Analytics, no, because Google deleted it in July 2024. The importer brings daily data, not events.

What happens when traffic goes over the plan?

Fathom emails when usage stays well over the allowance, sends reminders, and only then locks the dashboard and API, while collection and history continue (limits guide).
