What Is Murf AI? Voiceover Studio, Voice API and Agents
By Joris van Huët · Murf AI's own site
The short answer: if your team renders less than 2 hours of speech a month for product videos, training or ads, Murf's Creator plan at $29 a month billed monthly covers it, with commercial rights on everything you download (pricing page, Studio tab, checked on 26 October 2026). Murf AI is a voice platform in three parts: a Studio for timed voiceovers, a text-to-speech API, and conversational voice agents.
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
What decides the plan:
- Words, converted to minutes. Murf's help centre puts a 1,000-word English script at about 6 minutes of voice generation time (VGT article). For example, ten 250-word videos a month is 2,500 words, about 15 minutes per full render, so Creator's 120 monthly minutes allow 8 full passes.
- What you already have. Scripts import as .docx, .txt or .srt (script import), and a narrated video on Business can be transcribed into blocks that keep its timing.
- The meter to watch. Each project shows a VGT tracker in its top panel. Editing text spends it; changing voice or speed on unchanged text does not.
Three products under one login
The homepage leads with voice agents for inbound and outbound calls, then the Falcon API, then Murf Studio, the part a marketing team uses. The Studio is a timeline: script blocks on one lane, video, images and music on others, with 200+ voices in 30+ languages and accents on paid plans. Pronunciation can be fixed per word with smart suggestions, IPA or an alternative spelling (pronunciation guide). There is also Murf Dub for translating video, priced separately in credits, and an MCP server that lets Claude Desktop generate speech through the API (MCP docs).
Who it suits
A marketing or enablement team that makes narrated video every week, demos, onboarding clips, course modules, and wants to change a sentence without booking a voice actor. The PowerPoint and Google Slides add-ons start on Business, Canva on Creator.
It suits less well a team that wants its own voice. Voice cloning is not self-serve and comes only with Enterprise. Each self-serve plan also has 1 editor seat, so shared projects need Enterprise too.
Prices, monthly and yearly
Checked on 26 October 2026 on the Murf pricing page, Studio tab, in USD:
- Free: $0, 10 minutes of voice generation, 10 projects, no downloads and no commercial rights.
- Creator: $29 a month billed monthly with 2 hours a month, or $19 a month billed yearly ($228) with 24 hours a year.
- Business: $99 a month billed monthly with 8 hours a month, or $66 a month billed yearly ($792) with 96 hours a year; adds the Business License, emphasis and Audio to Text.
- Enterprise: quoted, with unlimited generation, SSO, AI translation and voice cloning as an add-on.
The page opens on yearly billing, so the first Creator figure a visitor sees is $19, which is $228 paid up front for a year of hours. Billed monthly, the same plan is $29. Commercial rights stay valid after you cancel, per the rights FAQ, so one paid month for one project is enough.
Next to ElevenLabs and Synthesia
ElevenLabs puts Instant Voice Cloning on its Starter plan at $6 a month and meters every product, from speech to music, in one credit pool (ElevenLabs pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). For your own voice or one bill across many audio jobs, it leads; for narration lined up against a screen recording, Murf's timeline is the closer fit.
Synthesia sells video with an AI presenter on screen: Starter is $19 a month billed monthly or $14 billed yearly, about 150 minutes of video a year (Synthesia pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Pick it when a face matters, Murf when the picture is your product and only the voice is missing.

FAQ
Can I download anything on the free plan?
No. Downloading and exporting need a paid plan; the trial is for testing voices on your own script (trial download article).
Can I use Murf voiceovers in YouTube videos I monetise?
Yes, on paid plans, provided the content is original, according to the commercial rights FAQ. Broadcast on TV networks or commercial radio needs Enterprise.
Is the API billed from the same plan?
No. The API has its own pricing tab: a free start with $10 of API credit, then pay as you go, with Gen2 speech at $0.03 per 1,000 characters (pricing page).
