What Is SiteGround? Managed WordPress With an AI Agent

By Joris van Huët · SiteGround's own site

The short answer: if you are pricing SiteGround for a marketing site, price the second year: GrowBig costs $4.99 a month for the first 12 months, prepaid, and renews at $29.99 a month (WordPress hosting page, checked on 26 October 2026). SiteGround is managed hosting for WordPress and WooCommerce with email, daily backups and an AI agent that edits WordPress by chat, and it suits a team with a few sites that wants hosting and mailboxes on one bill.

Put the two years side by side:

  1. The arithmetic. For example, GrowBig's first year is 12 x $4.99 = $59.88 and a year at the renewal rate is 12 x $29.99 = $359.88, both from the plan cards.
  2. Your sites and storage. StartUp hosts one website with 10GB; GrowBig and GoGeek allow unlimited websites with 50GB and 100GB. Two brand sites already rule out StartUp.
  3. A speed baseline you own. Run your five busiest pages through Google's free PageSpeed Insights before any move, and keep the scores.

What SiteGround includes

Every plan carries a free first-year domain, SSL, CDN, daily backups, email, free site migrations, managed WordPress updates and SiteGround's own speed and security plugins, per the plan cards. GrowBig adds on-demand backups and staging; GoGeek adds Git, white-label access and priority support.

Hosting clients also get AI Studio's Essential plan free, with the AI Agent for WordPress and 20,000 tokens a month. The agent edits posts, products, plugins and users from a chat, and its high-impact actions wait behind a Power Mode switch that starts off.

Who it suits

A marketing lead or founder running two to ten WordPress sites who wants email, backups, staging and support from one company and would rather not choose server sizes. The agent earns its place on content-heavy sites, where SEO fields and plugin updates eat whole afternoons.

Less so a site whose traffic swings hard with campaigns, for which SiteGround lists cloud hosting as a separate product, or a team that needs only a server and would pay here for mail and tools it already has.

First year and renewal

Checked on 26 October 2026 on the SiteGround WordPress hosting page, in USD, first term prepaid for 12 months:

GrowBig$4.99$29.99Unlimited50GB
GoGeek$7.99$44.99Unlimited100GB

Hosting has a 30-day money-back guarantee, per the web hosting page. Tokens past the monthly allowance cost $15.00 per 100,000 on the AI agent page.

Against Kinsta, Bluehost and Cloudways

  • Kinsta bills on monthly visits or bandwidth with no first-year discount, $35 a month for one site and 35,000 visits on its pricing page. Kinsta for one busy site priced on use, SiteGround for several quieter ones on one plan.
  • Bluehost also discounts the first term but lets its length move the renewal: Starter renews at $9.99 a month after 36 months and $11.99 after 12 (Bluehost pricing). Line up the renewals, not the entry rates.
  • Cloudways sells a server by the hour from $11 a month on DigitalOcean, with mail as a paid add-on (Cloudways pricing). Pick it to size the machine rather than buy the bundle.

Getting started

Free first: AI Studio's 14-day trial with 20,000 tokens works on a WordPress site hosted anywhere, so the agent can be tested on your current site before any move, per the AI agent page. How to use SiteGround then rewrites meta descriptions with the agent on a staging copy. Before choosing StartUp, note where the safeguards sit: the agent comes with every plan, but staging and on-demand backups, the two things SiteGround's own Power Mode tutorial asks for before bulk changes, start on GrowBig, so the free agent is also how a careful buyer ends up one tier higher.

FAQ

Is staging on every plan?

No. Staging and on-demand backups start on GrowBig, per the plan cards; StartUp relies on the automatic daily backups.

Can I use the AI agent on a site hosted elsewhere?

Yes. Add it in AI Studio under Connectors as an external website, and paste the connection key into the AI Agent by SiteGround plugin; the site needs an active SSL certificate, per the AI agent page.

What happens when the first year ends?

The plan renews at the rate on its card, $17.99, $29.99 or $44.99 a month by plan on the plan cards, so put the date in the calendar the day you buy.
