What Is Wistia? Video Hosting, Forms and Signals
By Joris van Huët · Wistia's own site
The short answer: if video on your site is meant to put leads into HubSpot, Marketo or Pardot with their viewing history attached, Wistia does it, and the price to plan around is Business + Signals at $412 a month on monthly billing, not Business at $99 (Wistia pricing, checked on 24 October 2026). Wistia is a video hosting, webinar and marketing platform: Business hosts and brands video with forms, and Signals connects what people watched to your marketing platform.
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
What decides the tier:
- The gap between two plans. For example, Signals adds $412 - $99 = $313 a month to Business on monthly billing, or $329 - $79 = $250 on annual billing, using the pricing page.
- The tools you already run. HubSpot, Marketo and Pardot integrations sit in the Signals column. Without them, Business still collects form entries, exported from a video's Conversion tab as a spreadsheet (Wistia Forms guide).
- Who needs a login. Business includes 3 seats; each extra costs $25 (pricing FAQ).
- The report you will judge it by. Conversions per video and per-view heatmaps are on Business; pipeline attribution is on Signals. Name the one you will read in month three.
What Wistia does
Hosting comes first: an ad-free, brandable player, embeds that update when you change settings, and Channels as on-site galleries (embedding guide). Each video can carry one form, one call to action and any number of annotation links (lead generation tools), and every public view produces a heatmap (heatmaps guide). Webinars, transcription, translation and AI clipping run on the same platform (homepage).
An MCP server lets an agent in Claude, Cursor or ChatGPT upload, tag, caption and report on videos. It is free on every account, open to Owners and Managers, and asks for approval on each action by default (MCP guide).
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits a B2B team that gates product videos or webinars and lives in a marketing automation platform, where a "played 75%" event on a contact changes what sales does next (HubSpot integration). It suits a team chasing reach less: Wistia hosts video for your own site, and discovery happens elsewhere.
What it costs
USD, from the Wistia pricing page and its plan comparison, checked on 24 October 2026.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing, per month | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 25 GB, 1 user, Wistia branding |
| Business | $99 | $79 | 250 GB, 3 users, forms and CTAs, heatmaps, A/B tests |
| Business + Signals | $412 | $329 | HubSpot, Marketo and Pardot, lead scoring, pipeline attribution |
| Webinars | $537 | $429 | 500 attendees, registration pages, Signals included |
| Webinars Plus | $1,037 | $829 | 1,000 attendees, embedded webinars, simulcast |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | 1 TB and up, SSO, playback protection |
The pricing page badges Business + Signals as the plan for marketing. That is where the vendor would like a marketer to land; the right tier is the one whose integration you will have wired up within a month, so prove it on one test page during the trial. Self-serve plans cancel at any time, without a refund.
How it compares
Vimeo. Vimeo puts lead capture and calls to action on Standard at $25 a month billed annually, and marketing automation integrations on Advanced at $75 billed annually (Vimeo plans, checked on 24 October 2026). If you need the connector more than viewer-level heatmaps, set those numbers beside Signals.
Loom. Loom records screen messages for colleagues; its free Starter plan allows 25 videos and screen recordings of up to 5 minutes (Loom pricing). It answers the async update, not the product page.
YouTube. YouTube is free and brings an audience, but an embed cannot switch related videos off, only limit them to your own channel (YouTube player parameters). Wistia sells the opposite: your page, no ads, nobody else's videos.
Getting started
Gate one product video on a test page before you pay for Signals. How to use Wistia takes that job from upload to HubSpot.
FAQ
Does the MCP server cost extra?
No. Wistia's help centre says it is free of charge for now on every account (MCP guide).
Do Wistia Forms need Signals?
No, forms are on Business. Sending entries to a HubSpot list, and viewing events to contact records, needs the Signals integration (plan comparison).
Do forms stay on a downloaded video?
No. They are part of the Wistia player, so a downloaded file plays without them (lead generation tools).
