What Is Adobe Creative Cloud? Apps, Express and Firefly

By Joris van Huët · Adobe Creative Cloud's own site

The short answer: if the people making your social posts are marketers rather than designers, start them on Adobe Express Premium at $9.99 a month, not on Creative Cloud Pro, which lists at $69.99 a month on an annual plan paid monthly (Express pricing, Creative Cloud plans, checked on 26 October 2026). Adobe Creative Cloud is Adobe's subscription to more than 20 creative apps, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and Acrobat Pro among them, with Firefly generative AI built in; Express, Acrobat and Stock are also sold alone. It fits a company with a designer and marketers who adapt that designer's work.

Map the seats before the plan:

  1. Who designs and who adapts. For example, one designer on Photoshop for teams and four marketers on Adobe Express for teams cost 12 x $37.99 + 4 x $79.99 = $775.84 a year, against 5 x 12 x $99.99 = $5,999.40 for five Creative Cloud Pro for teams licences (teams plans, Express for business). Express for teams needs two seats.
  2. The files you already have. Express places a Photoshop or Illustrator file as a linked image that updates when the designer saves (Photoshop and Illustrator in Express), so nothing is rebuilt.
  3. The seats nobody opens. Team plans assign licences from one admin console (teams plans); after a quarter, move the idle ones before renewal.

What the subscription holds

Creative Cloud Pro bundles the apps with unlimited standard AI image features such as Generative Fill, 4,000 monthly generative credits for premium video and audio features, Express Premium and 100 GB of storage (Creative Cloud page). A Single App plan gives one app and 25 credits.

Express is the marketers' part: templates, brand kits, resizing into several formats at once, translation and a content scheduler (Express pricing). On Teams and Enterprise plans, shared templates can be locked to the colours and fonts of linked brands (template controls).

Who should buy which part

Creative Cloud seats are for people who design; Express seats are for people who adapt, resize and post. Adobe suits less well a team with no designer, which pays for apps nobody opens, or a team that plans to work through ChatGPT, since the Express app for ChatGPT is not offered on Teams or Enterprise plans.

Acrobat Pro$19.99 a monthAnnual plan, billed monthly

Most monthly figures there are instalments on a year. Adobe's subscription terms for subscribers in the United States charge 50% of the remaining balance to cancel an annual plan paid monthly after 14 days, so the low monthly price buys Adobe a twelve-month customer: leaving Creative Cloud Pro with two months to run costs 2 x $69.99 x 50% = $69.99. Most plans are refunded in full within 14 days of purchase (cancellation article).

Next to Canva and Kittl

Canva's pricing page refused automated reading on 26 October 2026; its developer docs put brand templates on Pro, Teams and Enterprise. What decides it is where design starts: if your designers build in Photoshop, Express keeps their files linked; if nobody does, it is a choice between two template editors.

Kittl is an AI-first canvas for product shots, mockups and merch, from $19 a month on monthly billing (Kittl pricing). Choose it when the output is product visuals for a shop; choose Adobe when the same team also lays out print, edits video and signs PDFs.
