What Is Complianz? WordPress Cookie Consent Per Site
By Joris van Huët · Complianz's own site
The short answer: Complianz is a WordPress plugin, with a Shopify app beside it, that scans a site, blocks third-party cookies until consent, shows a banner per region and writes the cookie policy. The free plugin has no pageview or session limit (WordPress.org listing), and Premium is $59 a year for one site (pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026). For a busy WordPress site that a pageview meter would push into a higher tier, that flat licence is the point.

What decides the licence:
- Count sites, not pageviews. Personal covers 1 site for $59, Professional 5 for $179 and Agency 25 for $399, each per year, per the pricing page. For example, 5 sites on Professional cost $179 / 5 = $35.80 each, and 25 on Agency $399 / 25 = $15.96. A WordPress Multisite network needs Agency, whatever its size.
- Start from the plugins you already run. The listing names 250+ service and plugin integrations and the WP Consent API, which shares the visitor's choice with other plugins. Google scripts you pasted in by hand come out, and go back in through Complianz (Consent Mode guide).
- Measure the banner, not only its presence. Premium A/B tests banner variants on consent rate, per the listing.
What Complianz does
A wizard asks about the site, a scan finds cookies and known scripts, and Complianz configures consent from the answers, your plugins and your region. It blocks services such as Google Maps, YouTube embeds and reCAPTCHA, shows a placeholder where a blocked embed would sit, and sorts other scripts by category in its Script Center. Banners can differ for the EU, the UK, the United States, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Brazil.
Cookie descriptions come from cookiedatabase.org, which Complianz B.V. operates and which receives your scan results, as the listing discloses. Premium adds records of consent, Google Consent Mode, geo-IP banners and data request forms. The plugin's fine print is fair warning: it helps you meet the requirements, but the site owner must make sure all of them are met.
Ownership matters when you compare: the site footer reads "Complianz is part of iubenda" (pricing page).
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits a WordPress site owner who wants consent handled inside the admin, and an agency maintaining many WordPress sites. It suits less well a Webflow or custom-built site, because the plugin is WordPress only, per the pricing FAQ.
What it costs
Premium is billed yearly and renews automatically: $59 for one site, $179 for five, $399 for 25 with a Multisite plugin, with a 30-day money-back guarantee and no lifetime licences or discounts (pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026). The pricing FAQ adds that no tier limits pageviews or stored consent records.
Read the renewal clause before you buy. If the subscription lapses, the plugin stays active, but you can no longer change your legal documents or configuration, TCF stops working and updates end, which makes renewal the easiest path long before it is the necessary one.
How it compares
iubenda. The parent company's own product runs on any platform and bills each site by pageviews, from €4.99 a month billed yearly for 25,000, per its pricing page. Choose it for a site that is not on WordPress.
Cookiebot. Prices by the number of subpages rather than traffic: free up to 50 subpages on one domain, Premium from $8 a month, and plans move up automatically as the subpage count grows, per its pricing page.
CookieYes. Charges per domain on monthly pageviews: free to 5,000, then Basic at $10 a month or $100 a year, per its pricing page.

FAQ
Is Google Consent Mode in the free plugin?
No. The Consent Mode guide says its steps require Complianz Premium.
Does a staging site need its own licence?
No. The pricing FAQ exempts registered staging domains from the licence limit.
Does Complianz work on WordPress Multisite?
Yes, with the Agency licence, which includes a dedicated Multisite plugin; a single-site licence does not cover a network, per the pricing FAQ.
