What Is Divi? Elegant Themes' WordPress Theme and Builder
By Joris van Huët · Divi's own site
The short answer: if you run more than a couple of WordPress sites, Divi's licence is the cheap one to scale: unlimited sites for $89 a year, or $249 once for lifetime access (pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026). Divi is Elegant Themes' WordPress theme and visual page builder; the same membership includes the Extra theme and the Bloom and Monarch plugins, and an AI agent is sold on top.

Work out the five-year cost first:
- Yearly against lifetime. For example, five years on the yearly plan are 5 x $89 = $445 against $249 once; the lifetime licence pays for itself early in year three, since 3 x $89 = $267, per the pricing page.
- The site you already have. If it runs Divi 4, the move to Divi 5 is part of the licence. Elegant Themes promises Divi 4 support for at least 12 months after Divi 5's release on 26 February 2026, per its migration guide.
- What the agent spends. Divi AI includes a $5 monthly balance for the AI Agent; after that you top up a wallet, per the agent guide. Read the balance after the first month.
What Divi does
Divi adds a visual design layer to WordPress, in the pricing page's words: a drag-and-drop builder for every page, plus a Theme Builder for headers, footers and templates. Divi 5, a new architecture, brings class-based presets, global variables and a migrator for older sites. Quick Sites generates a starter site with content, and Divi Dash updates sites from one dashboard.
The Divi AI Agent, a Divi 5 feature, works in the builder from plain language: it builds layouts from a brief, a screenshot or a URL, edits modules, manages pages and menus, and asks for approval before destructive actions, per its product page.
Who it suits
Freelancers and agencies running many WordPress sites, where one licence covering all of them changes the arithmetic, and site owners who want to pay once.
It suits less well a team with one site and no plans for more: the unlimited licence is the selling point, and for a single site it is not the cheapest builder on the market.
What it costs
Checked on 26 October 2026 on the Elegant Themes pricing page and the Divi AI page, in USD:
| Option | Price | What it adds |
|---|---|---|
| Divi | $89 a year | Unlimited sites, Divi Dash, support |
| Divi Pro | $277 a year | Divi AI, Divi Cloud, VIP support, 4 team members |
| Divi Lifetime | $249 once | Divi for life, unlimited sites |
| Divi Lifetime + Pro | $297 today, then $212 a year for Pro services | Both |
| Divi AI add-on | $193 a year, or $21.36 billed monthly | AI tools and the AI Agent |
The agent's model use is resold: Divi routes requests through OpenRouter, and the agent guide says Elegant Themes adds a small percentage to each provider's price. The pricing page also carries a comparison table that sets Divi against Elementor's 1,000-site plan at $399 a year, a match-up drawn for agencies; for one site, Elementor's Advanced Solo costs $84, five dollars less than Divi, per Elementor's pricing file.
Elementor and Thrive Themes
- Elementor prices per site, from $60 to $204 a year for 1 to 25 sites, and bundles cookie consent and accessibility fixes into its One plan, per its pricing file. Site count decides it: few sites favour Elementor, many favour Divi.
- Thrive Themes sells a suite of conversion plugins for up to 5 sites, $299 for the first year, per its pricing page. Quizzes and A/B tests built into the plugins decide it; Divi's case is unlimited sites.
Getting going
Elegant Themes offers 30 days risk-free on the pricing page. How to use Divi moves a Divi 4 site to Divi 5 on a staging copy.
