What Is folk? A Relationship CRM Fed by LinkedIn and Email

By Joris van Huët · folk's own site

The short answer: if your contacts are partners, investors, creators or a few hundred prospects rather than a sales floor's worth of leads, folk keeps them in groups you build in minutes and fills them from LinkedIn and your inbox. Standard at $24 per member a month, billed annually, covers capture, enrichment and email campaigns; automated sequences, deals and the API need Premium at $48.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Before the two-week trial ends:

  1. Count enrichment against the list. For example, 300 contacts use 300 of Standard's 500 monthly email credits, and at the 50 to 60% success rate in the enrichment guide you get between 300 x 0.5 = 150 and 300 x 0.6 = 180 addresses.
  2. Start from a list you already keep, such as a spreadsheet, a LinkedIn search or your Google contacts.
  3. Decide what reply rate earns the list a second campaign.

What folk does

Everything sits in groups: databases of people, companies or deals, each with a pipeline view and a table view, per the groups guide.

Contacts come in through folkX, a Chrome extension that captures profiles from LinkedIn, Sales Navigator, X, Instagram and TikTok, per the folkX guide, while email, calendar and WhatsApp sync add the history.

From a group you email everyone or a filtered view, personalised from the group's fields. Sequences of up to ten steps stop for anyone who replies, per the sequences guide, and need a custom sender on your own domain.

The AI sits in fields and assistants: an AI field fills a column from a prompt that reads the record, a Research Assistant writes company notes, and a hosted MCP server gives Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor the same access as your account.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits founders, agencies, investor relations, partnerships and marketing teams who manage relationships more than volume, and its EU hosting helps a privacy review. It suits less well a team that needs calling, forecasting or support tickets in the same tool.

Next to Attio and HubSpot

Attio is free for up to 3 seats, and its Pro plan, $79 per user a month billed annually, adds sequences and call intelligence, per its pricing page; against folk's $48 Premium, the sequence tier decides the price. HubSpot gives two users its free tools and adds 1,000 marketing contacts with Marketing Hub Starter, per its CRM pricing page; it fits when inbound marketing, not a relationship list, feeds the pipeline.

FAQ

Where does folk store data?

In Ireland, on AWS, according to its security page, which also names folk as the processor and the customer as the controller.

Can I send sequences from Gmail?

No. The Gmail sender guide caps sends at 125 a day from a personal account and 500 from Google Workspace, and rules out sequences and open tracking. A custom sender on your own domain allows both.

What happens when the trial ends?

If you do not upgrade, the account is blocked but the data is not deleted straight away, and you can ask for one more week, per the pricing FAQ. The trial asks for no card.
