What Is Foreplay? Ad Swipe File, Competitor Tracking, Briefs

By Joris van Huët · Foreplay's own site

The short answer: if your team keeps competitor ads as screenshots in a group chat, Foreplay turns that pile into a shared library and adds automatic tracking of rivals' Meta ads. A freelancer can start on Basic at $59 a month; a team that wants the competitor tracking needs Workflow, which is $175 a month on monthly billing or $149 billed yearly, for five users, per the Foreplay pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026.

Three checks before the 7-day trial converts:

  1. Price the seats, not the plan. Workflow includes five users and each extra user costs $20 a month, so a team of seven pays $175 + 2 x $20 = $215 a month on monthly billing, using the pricing page.
  2. Start from the list you already watch. Meta's free Ad Library already shows what your competitors run today. Write down the brands you check there by hand; they are the first ones to put into tracking.
  3. Decide what proves it. Count how many of next month's creative briefs cite a saved ad. If the answer is zero, the library has become a bookmark folder.

What Foreplay does

Foreplay sells a workflow from saved inspiration to the performance report, per its homepage. Swipe File keeps ads you save with the Chrome extension from the Facebook Ad Library, Instagram, TikTok, the LinkedIn Ad Library and YouTube Shorts, per the extension guide. Discovery searches ads saved by other users. Spyder follows a brand's Meta ads and keeps them after they stop running, with hooks transcribed. Lens reports on your own ad account, and Briefs turns saved ads into scripts and storyboards. An MCP server lets Claude or ChatGPT read the library and your boards.

Who it fits, and who it does not

It fits performance creative teams and agencies shipping many ad variants on Meta and TikTok, where buyers and designers need to point at the same ads. It fits less well a team whose spend sits in Google Search, since Google Transparency Center saving is still listed as coming soon, or a brand that refreshes two ads a quarter and is served by the free Ad Library.

What it costs

Read on the Foreplay pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026, in USD per month:

Annual billing is where Foreplay puts unlimited Spyder tracking, and its FAQ says annual plans get no pro-rated refund. On annual billing Foreplay collects the year at signing, and if the team stops opening the library in month four, the remaining months stay paid. The vendor trades the bigger allowance for your flexibility, so run a month on monthly billing first and switch once the team opens the library every week.

How it compares

Atria leads with an AI agent, Raya, that tells you which ads to make next from your account data. Its Core plan, with 50 followed brands, lists $219 a month on monthly billing, shown at $159 during a Black Friday offer on its pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026. Pick Atria for generated ideas; pick Foreplay for a library and briefs built from what competitors already run.

Getting started

Install the extension, save a first board, then add three competitors to Spyder. How to use Foreplay follows that path to a finished brief.

FAQ

How many ads are in Foreplay's library?

Foreplay's pages give three answers: over 100M on the homepage, 200M+ on the pricing page and over 50M in the help centre. Search your own category during the trial instead.

Does Spyder track TikTok or Google ads?

Spyder tracks Meta, Facebook and Instagram included, per the Spyder page. TikTok ads can be saved one by one with the extension, from TikTok Top Ads or from the TikTok Ad Library, which works in the EU only.

What happens when the trial ends?

Your card is charged for the trialled plan unless you cancel from Account Settings within the 7 days. A 14-day money-back guarantee follows the first charge, per the trial article.
