What Is Hunter? Domain Search, Verification and Sequences
By Joris van Huët · Hunter's own site
The short answer: Hunter suits a marketer or founder who starts from a company's website and wants the people behind it, the sources for each address and a way to email them, in one account. Starter is $49 a month for 2,000 credits, or $34 a month billed yearly, with unlimited team members, per the pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026.
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
What decides the plan:
- The bulk arithmetic. For example, 200 partner domains capped at 10 emails each cost 200 credits to download, since 1 credit covers 1 to 10 emails per domain on the pricing page; verifying 3 per domain adds 600 x 0.5 = 300. That is 500 credits, a quarter of one Starter month.
- The list you bring. Hunter imports a CSV or TXT file of up to 100,000 rows and, on paid plans, enriches each imported email at no credit cost, per its import article.
- The status mix. Count Valid against Accept-all and Unknown; the status article warns that accept-all addresses can bounce.
What Hunter does
Domain Search lists the people Hunter knows at a company, with title, department and the public pages where each address appeared, tagged "Inferred" when derived from public mentions, per the Domain Search article. The Email Finder takes a name and a company, the Verifier checks any address, Discover filters a company database, Bulk runs these over a list, and Sequences send from your connected mailboxes. Browser extensions, a Sheets add-on, four CRM integrations, an API and an MCP server included in every plan, per the MCP page, complete it.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits partnership and PR outreach, where the page an address came from helps you judge it, and teams of any size, since members are free.
It suits less well a phone-first team: a phone number appears in bulk results only as an extra field when available, per the Bulk Domain Search article. Hunter's GDPR article puts its main servers on Google Cloud in Belgium, includes a DPA in the terms and makes you the controller of the leads in your account.

In USD, from the Hunter pricing page:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing | Credits | Sending accounts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 50 a month | 1 |
| Starter | $49 | $34 a month | 2,000 a month | 3 |
| Growth | $149 | $104 a month | 10,000 a month | 10 |
| Scale | $299 | $209 a month | 25,000 a month | 20 |
A found email costs 1 credit and a verification 0.5. Monthly credits do not carry over, while yearly credits arrive upfront and last 12 months, per the credit validity article. The API-only Data Platform sells 1,000 search credits for $50 and 1,000 verification credits for $11.
How it compares
Anymail Finder charges only when its live check confirms an address, with no sending, on its homepage. Hunter is the pick if the sequence should run where the address was found.
Apollo.io bills per seat and adds a dialer and 240M+ contacts, per its pricing page and homepage. For a team that mostly emails, Hunter's free extra users change the sum.
RocketReach counts exports, not credits: its email-only Essentials plan is $399 billed annually for 1,200 exports a year, with MCP and API access, on its pricing page. That suits a buyer who prefers a fixed yearly allowance.
Hunter's homepage leads with the outreach platform, the part that keeps a subscription running; its pricing FAQ allows one month for a single export, then cancel.
