What Is Lucky Orange? Heatmaps, Replays and Discovery AI

The short answer: you are not misreading it: the Lucky Orange homepage says every tool is included in every plan, while the pricing page lists Discovery AI, its built-in analyst, as an add-on on each tier, and the Shopify listing prices it at $10 a month on Build. Everything else (dynamic heatmaps, session recordings, funnels, form analytics, surveys and live chat) does come with every plan, from $32 a month billed annually for 3,500 sessions, checked on 26 October 2026.

Red flags before you pick a tier:
- A full session quota switches the site off. At the 30-day session limit, tracking stops and surveys, announcements and live chat go dark until the next cycle or an upgrade, per the billing FAQ. For example, a site with 9,000 sessions a month fits Grow's 10,000 at $72 a month billed annually; on Build's 3,500, tracking would stop 3,500 / 9,000 = 39% of the way through the month.
- Use the stack you already run. Lucky Orange is embedded in the Shopify admin, works as a Shopify Sidekick extension and connects to HubSpot, GA4, Optimizely and Zapier, per its integrations page and 2026 updates.
- Set a Primary Conversion Event on day one. Discovery needs it to analyse conversion trends, and it fills the Visit Value column on recordings, per the events guide.
What Lucky Orange does
The pitch is answers rather than more data. Discovery AI reads live visitor behaviour and replies with links to the heatmap, funnel or recording behind its answer. Its Quick Actions run a bounced-session analysis, summarise a page's heatmap, explain changes in conversions and, for Shopify stores, list the items most often abandoned; audits check broken links, mobile usability, page speed and button placement (2026 updates).
Under it sits the classic kit. Dynamic heatmaps keep clicks inside dropdowns and pop-ups, recordings mark rage clicks on the timeline, and ready-made segments group frustrated, confused and bounced visitors (segments guide). Surveys, announcements and live chat reach the same visitors, and every response links back to a recording.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits a Shopify merchant or a small marketing team that wants to watch visitors and ask them questions in one tool. It suits less well a site whose forms load in an iFrame, which form analytics cannot read (form analytics FAQ), and a store on standard Shopify that needs checkout recordings, which only Shopify Plus allows.

From the pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026. Extra sites cost $5 a month each and share the plan's sessions, data is kept 60 days unless you buy more, and a free plan allows 100 sessions a month on one site, per the billing FAQ and free plan article.
The fix for a full quota is a setting called Keep Me Tracking, which moves the account to the next plan automatically: data keeps flowing, and the bill moves up a tier without a fresh decision from anyone.
How it compares
Hotjar. Its prices now live on Contentsquare's pricing page: a Free plan to 200,000 monthly sessions with a month of data, and Growth from $39 a month billed yearly with 13 months. Lucky Orange's homepage answers on bundling, with surveys and chat at no extra charge.
Plerdy. Prices each site by heatmap pageviews per day, from $21 a month billed annually, and ties landing pages to ad channels and revenue in a single report, per its pricing page.

FAQ
Can Lucky Orange record the Shopify checkout?
Only on Shopify Plus. Other Shopify stores see checkout events such as Checkout Started and Ordered in the timeline while the recording shows a blank screen, per the checkout policy article.
Does it record what visitors type?
Not by default. Keystrokes are replaced with asterisks before they are collected, according to the same article.
Is Discovery AI available on the free plan?
No. The free plan article excludes add-ons, Discovery included; you upgrade to a paid plan first.
