What Is Piktochart? Infographics, Reports and Pikto AI
By Joris van Huët · Piktochart's own site
The short answer: you are not misreading the plan table: Piktochart Pro, at $10 per member a month billed annually, downloads PNG files only, and a PDF or a PowerPoint file needs Business at $17 (pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026). Piktochart is a browser tool for infographics, reports and presentations, with an AI generator, Pikto AI, that drafts a visual from a prompt or a document; it suits teams that publish data-heavy visuals without a designer.
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
Settle three things before you upgrade:
- The file your readers open. For example, a team of three pays 3 x $10 x 12 = $360 a year on Pro and 3 x $17 x 12 = $612 on Business, both billed annually, per the pricing page. The $252 between them buys PDF and PowerPoint downloads and the brand kit.
- The numbers you already keep. Charts take data typed in, uploaded as XLS, XLSX or CSV, or linked from a Google Sheet (chart data article).
- Whether anyone read it. A visual published to the web shows a view count, counting a signed-in viewer once and an anonymous one once per IP address (views article).
What Piktochart does
Pikto AI drafts: a topic becomes infographic layouts such as list, comparison or timeline (infographic article), and a text-based PDF, DOCX or TXT file under 10MB becomes a visual (upload article). Preserve Content keeps the original wording in the Document format, for the first five pages unless you are on Business (Preserve Content article). The editor finishes the job and ends in a share link, an embed code or a download (sharing article).
Who it suits
Communications, HR, training and content teams that turn reports and survey results into one screen a reader takes in. It suits less well a team that needs figures to stay live in a downloaded file, since a chart linked to Google Sheets does not update until relinked, or a brand team on Pro, where saved brand colours, fonts and logos are a Business feature.
Prices on 26 October 2026
USD per member per month, from the Piktochart pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | Downloads | AI credits a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 2 PNG files, not renewed | 60 |
| Pro | $15 | $10 | Unlimited PNG | 500 |
| Business | $20 | $17 | PNG, PDF, PowerPoint | 1,000 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | As Business, plus SSO | As Business |
A document summary costs 3 AI credits and an AI video 250, and packs from $20 for 2,000 credits never expire (credits article). The help centre's Business plan article still describes 3,000 credits and $288 a seat a year, so read the pricing page on the day you buy.
The free plan is generous where generosity costs Piktochart little and tight where it decides the sale: projects are unlimited, while the two PNG downloads never renew (free plan article), so the finished draft you cannot take home is what sells Pro.
Next to Visme, Venngage and Canva
Visme puts PDF on its cheaper tier: Starter, $12.25 a month billed yearly, downloads JPG, PNG and PDF, and Business, $24.75, adds PowerPoint, HTML5 and a brand kit (Visme pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). If PDF handouts matter and brand controls do not, that gap decides it.
Venngage draws Piktochart's line: Premium, $10 a month billed yearly, exports PNG, and PDF and PowerPoint need Business at $24 per user (Venngage pricing). Its free plan stops at five designs.
Canva's pricing page refused automated reading on 26 October 2026; its developer docs place brand templates on Pro, Teams and Enterprise. If the team designs everything else in Canva, start there; for long reports from documents, test Preserve Content against it.

FAQ
Does a chart update when my Google Sheet changes?
Not in a download: you unlink, relink and save. A visual published on the web updates on reload (chart data article).
Can Piktochart Pro export a PDF?
No. Pro downloads PNG only; PDF and PowerPoint come with Business (download article).
Do unused AI credits carry over?
Plan credits reset each cycle; purchased packs stay until used, even after a subscription ends (credits article).
