What Is Shogun? Page Builder, A/B Tests, Personalization
By Joris van Huët · Shogun's own site
The short answer: on Shopify, Shogun sells building pages and testing them as two apps, so a store that wants both starts at $39 + $39 = $78 a month on monthly billing, while on BigCommerce the $39 Build plan already includes A/B testing and personalization for up to 2,000 monthly tracked users, per the pricing page checked on 26 October 2026. Shogun presents itself as a set of tools to build, test and personalise the pages paid traffic lands on, for ecommerce teams that run campaigns in-house.

Price it by the job:
- Pages only. Build publishes 25 pages for $39 a month; Grow removes the cap at $199. For example, a store at 25 live pages that publishes one more moves from $39 to $199 a month, a $160 step, so count live pages before a campaign season. Yearly billing saves 20%, which puts Build at $31, per the pricing page.
- Tests on the theme you already run. The A/B app copies your current page or template as Variant B, so a team can test its existing theme without building anything in the page builder, per the first test article.
- The measure. The testing app waits for 95% confidence before naming a winner, and it counts only shoppers inside a test, so its totals will not match Shopify's, as the analytics article explains.
Three apps under one name
The Page Builder is a visual editor for landing pages, product pages and campaign pages, with templates, reusable sections and page analytics; Grow adds content scheduling and global sections, and Advanced adds syncing content across stores. A/B Testing covers page, split URL, template and theme tests on its first plan, product details tests and an MCP connection for Claude or ChatGPT on Advanced, and price and checkout tests on Unlimited, per the test types article. Personalization shows tailored content to audience segments, as the homepage describes it.
Who it suits
Shopify brands with a testing habit and the traffic to finish tests, agencies that build and test for clients, and BigCommerce stores, where testing comes inside the builder's price. It suits less well a store that wants one or two pages and nothing else: the free Draft Mode publishes no pages at all.
Prices, checked on 26 October 2026
Shopify prices in USD from the Shogun pricing page:
| App | Plan | Monthly billing | What it includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Page Builder | Draft Mode | $0 | Drafts only, 0 published pages |
| Page Builder | Build | $39 ($31 billed yearly) | 25 published pages, page analytics |
| Page Builder | Grow | $199 ($159 billed yearly) | Unlimited pages, content scheduling |
| Page Builder | Advanced | $499 ($399 billed yearly) | Content syncing across stores |
| A/B Testing | Pro | $39 | 3 active tests, 14-day trial |
| A/B Testing | Advanced | $119 | 5 active tests, MCP, Meta and Google data |
| A/B Testing | Unlimited | $499 | Unlimited tests, price and checkout tests |
| Personalization | Pro | $199 | Unlimited personalizations |
Personalization is free on development stores. On BigCommerce, Build, Grow and Advanced carry 2,000, 10,000 and 50,000 monthly tracked users for testing and personalization, at the same three prices, per the BigCommerce tab of the pricing page.
Draft Mode deserves a plain reading. It is free and lets you build every page, yet it publishes none, so its role is to get the work done inside Shogun before the first invoice; as a trial that is fair, and as a plan it puts nothing live.
Next to GemPages and Replo
- GemPages publishes unlimited pages from $29 a month and runs tests through GemX, a separate app, per its pricing page. Past 25 pages, GemPages costs less; for price or checkout tests, Shogun's testing app has them listed.
- Replo builds pages by chat and hosts them on a subdomain, and its docs list Shogun among the builders it migrates pages from, per its migration guide. Choose by where the page must live: Shogun publishes into the store, Replo beside it.
Getting started
How to use Shogun runs a template test on a product page with the A/B Testing app, from the copy of the template to publishing the winner.
FAQ
Does Shogun work on BigCommerce?
Yes. The BigCommerce Page Builder plans include A/B testing and personalization, metered by monthly tracked users, per the pricing page.
Is there a free plan?
Draft Mode builds pages without publishing them. The A/B Testing app has a 14-day trial, and Personalization is free on development stores.
Can an AI assistant run Shogun tests?
On the Advanced testing plan, yes: the MCP server lets Claude or ChatGPT create, start and stop tests, and new tests start as drafts that get no traffic until you confirm, per the MCP guide.
