What Is Superhuman? The Mail App and the Suite Around It

By Joris van Huët · Superhuman's own site

The short answer: you are not misreading it: Superhuman Mail's Business plan and the Superhuman suite's Business plan carry the same price, $33 per member a month billed annually, and the suite's version lists Grammarly, Docs and Go beside Mail (Mail plans, suite plans, checked on 26 October 2026). Superhuman Mail itself is an AI email client that runs on a Gmail or Outlook account, for people who live in their inbox; Starter at $25 covers its core.

Before you buy seats:

  1. Price the year. For example, 5 members on Starter cost 5 x $300 = $1,500 a year, and on Business 5 x $396 = $1,980, using the annual prices in Superhuman's annual plan article. One annual subscription holds up to 14 people; beyond that, the article sends you to an account manager.
  2. The mailbox you already pay for. Superhuman Mail sits on top of Gmail or Outlook, so its price comes on top of your email plan. Every Google Workspace business plan already includes Gemini in Gmail to find, summarise and write emails, per Google's pricing page. Try that for a week first.
  3. Counts you can read. Each Split Inbox shows its total conversations, per the Split Inbox article. Note the totals on day one and day thirty.

What Superhuman is now

Superhuman is now a company and a suite. Its homepage lists Mail, the email app; Grammarly, the writing assistant; Docs, the workspace that was Coda until its rename; and Go, an assistant across your apps. This entry covers Mail; the Grammarly entry covers the writing side.

Mail's features divide by plan. Starter covers Split Inbox, built-in Auto Labels, Remind Me and Auto Reminders, Snippets, Send Later, read statuses, booking links and team comments on shared threads. Business adds Auto Drafts, which write replies and follow-ups in your voice, Ask AI, custom Auto Labels written as AI prompts, the HubSpot and Salesforce integrations, and the Mail MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT, per the pricing article and the Mail plans page.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits people whose job runs through email: founders, marketing leads handling agencies and partners, and roles that live on follow-ups. Shared conversations with team comments suit a small team working the same threads.

It suits less well a team above 25, the seat limit the plans page shows for Starter and Business. Anyone who would rather keep Gmail or Outlook as the client can look at Superhuman's own Email Assistant, which brings Auto Labels, Auto Drafts and reminders into the existing inbox with a 30-day trial, per its Email Assistant page.

Because the two Business prices match, Starter is the tier to test against. The Mail page leads with an AI that drafts and even sends for you, and the plans page fences Auto Drafts and the MCP server into Business, so the features that sell the product are the ones priced $8 a month per person above Starter on annual billing. Find out first whether Split Inbox and reminders on Starter already clear your inbox.

How it compares

  • Fyxer works inside your existing Gmail or Outlook, drafting replies in your tone and labelling the inbox; Pro is $37 per person a month billed annually, with a 14-day trial, per Fyxer's pricing. Choose it to keep your current client; choose Superhuman Mail for a separate client built around Split Inbox and team features.
  • Gmail on Google Workspace already includes Gemini in Gmail on every business plan, per Google's pricing page. If summaries and drafts are all you need, that covers it at no extra cost; Superhuman adds the triage system around them.

Getting started

How to use Superhuman sets up a marketing lead's inbox triage on Starter, with Auto Drafts as an optional last step.

FAQ

Does Superhuman Mail work with Outlook?

Yes. The Mail page says it is built for teams that use Gmail or Outlook.

Is the MCP server on the Starter plan?

No. The MCP article requires a Business plan or higher and Ask AI switched on.

Can I get a refund on an annual plan?

If you cancel, you keep Mail to the end of the paid year, or Superhuman can refund the remainder and end access, per the annual plan article.
