What Is VEED? AI Subtitles, Avatars and Editing
By Joris van Huët · VEED's own site
The short answer: if your team turns talking-head and demo footage into captioned clips for social, VEED does it in the browser for $25 per editor a month on Creator with monthly billing, or $45 on Pro, the first tier that translates subtitles more than once and downloads them as files (VEED pricing, checked on 24 October 2026; translation limits). Around the editor, VEED now sells AI avatars, generated video and dubbing.
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
Before you pick a tier:
- Multiply by heads. Every person in the workspace is a seat, pending invitations included (seat billing). For example, three editors on Creator pay 3 x $25 = $75 a month.
- Price translation by your footage. Each language costs the video's length in translation minutes, and unused minutes lapse (pricing FAQ). For example, a four-minute demo in three languages uses 4 x 3 = 12 minutes.
- Judge it on your product names. Subtitle one minute of real footage and count the words VEED marks in orange as low confidence (subtitles guide). That count predicts every later video.
What VEED does
Subtitles are the core: generated in the spoken language, styled from presets, then burned into the picture or, on Pro and above, downloaded as SRT, VTT or TXT (subtitle files). The homepage now leads with generation: an AI clone "from one photo and your voice", video from text on VEED's Fabric 1.0 model beside Sora 2, Veo 3.1 and Kling, dubbing and eye contact correction (VEED homepage). Developers get APIs and OpenEdit, a free beta pipeline that a coding agent drives (OpenEdit guide).
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits a marketing team or founder publishing short social video, where captions and brand styling matter more than a deep timeline. Long-form work fits less: VEED recommends keeping a project under 5 GB and about 4 to 5 hours (upload guide).
Publishing a clone or lip-synced dub of a real person brings Article 50(4) of the EU AI Act into play: the deployer of a deep fake has to disclose that it was generated or manipulated (Article 50).
What it costs
USD per editor, from the VEED pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026. You are not misreading it if the yearly prices change between visits: across several loads the page showed two versions, and only the monthly prices stayed put.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Yearly billing, version 1 | Yearly billing, version 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Creator | $25 | $10 a month, $120 a year | $12 a month, $147 a year |
| Pro | $45 | $19 a month, $228 a year | $22 a month, $265 a year |
| Studio | $79, version 2 only | Not shown | $39 a month, $465 a year |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
AI credits differ between the versions too and never carry over. The free plan exports at 720p with a watermark burned in (watermark article).
A page that shows a different yearly figure on each visit is testing what you will pay. That is the vendor's question, not yours, so screenshot the version you are offered before you subscribe.
How it compares
Descript. Descript edits video by editing its transcript like a document; its Creator plan lists 30 media hours a month (Descript pricing). It wins for cutting long recordings by their words.
HeyGen. HeyGen starts from the presenter: even its free plan includes a custom video avatar and 3 watermarked videos a month (HeyGen pricing). If nobody wants to be on camera, that decides it.
CapCut. CapCut comes as a desktop app, an online editor and a mobile app, and can be tried online without a card (CapCut). It suits editing on a phone; VEED's pull is a shared workspace with Brand Kits.
Getting started
Subtitle one real video on the free plan, then translate it once. How to use VEED follows that job from VEED's help centre.
FAQ
Does VEED watermark free exports?
Yes, and the watermark is part of the file, so after upgrading you export the original project again (export guide).
Can I download subtitles as SRT?
On Pro and Enterprise, as SRT, VTT or plain text (subtitle files).
Do unused AI credits roll over?
No. The allowance refreshes at renewal and the rest lapses (pricing FAQ).
