What Is Colossyan? AI Avatar Video for Training Teams
By Joris van Huët · Colossyan's own site
The short answer: Colossyan makes AI avatar videos and courses for workplace training: its agent, Cora, drafts a video scene by scene from a document, deck, web page or prompt, and nothing renders until you approve it (homepage). For an enablement or L&D lead whose videos must land in an LMS, Professional is $59 a month billed yearly, or $89 on monthly billing, and includes 5 SCORM exports a month (pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026).
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
What to check before a year's contract:
- Count generated minutes, not drafts. Drafts are free; each generated video spends its length, measured to the second, and generating again spends it again (minutes article). For example, Professional's 30 NEO minutes a month come to 360 for a year, granted up front on annual billing; ten 6-minute modules generated twice each use 120 of them.
- Start from the documents you already maintain. Cora reads PPT, PDF, TXT and DOCX files up to 5GB, several at once (AI Video Generator article).
- Measure in the LMS. Video analytics are Enterprise only on the pricing page, so on Professional the record of who finished is the SCORM completion your LMS keeps.
What Colossyan does
Cora, a research preview, asks about your source, builds a storyboard, and takes script edits, media swaps and spot changes by chat before you open the draft in the editor. The editor offers 300+ stock avatars, 700+ voices, custom avatars, brand kits, subtitles, quizzes and branching, translation into 120+ languages, and Colossyan Learn for full courses. Interactive videos leave by link, embed or SCORM only, never as MP4 (interactive videos article).
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits HR, sales enablement, compliance and customer education teams that publish many short modules and update them often. It suits less a marketing team making ads: Starter and Professional export at up to 1080p, and the branded share page and HTML embedding sit on paid tiers.
A custom avatar of a real employee is the point to stop and label. An AI video that resembles a real person and would pass as authentic meets the deep fake definition in Article 3 of the EU AI Act, and Article 50 obliges whoever publishes it to disclose that.
Plans and prices
USD, from the Colossyan pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026.
| Plan | Billed yearly, per month | Billed monthly | Extra editor | Video minutes a month | SCORM exports |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Free | None, 1 editor | 20 with NEO, 0.5 with NEO2 | None |
| Professional | $59 | $89 | $30 yearly or $45 monthly, up to 3 editors | 30 with NEO, 10 with NEO2 | 5 |
| Enterprise | Quoted | Quoted | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Professional yearly can add 600 NEO2 minutes for $1,500 a year, and a studio-filmed custom avatar is a $1,000-a-year add-on, per the pricing FAQ. Unused minutes do not roll over. The free plan is described as "$27/month worth of value", an anchor set beside the paid tier; the line that decides your plan is whether your LMS needs SCORM, which Starter does not export.
How it compares
Synthesia. Synthesia charges the same $59 a month billed yearly for Pro, with 72,000 credits a year, up to about 720 video minutes, but keeps SCORM export on Enterprise. A training team that needs SCORM without an Enterprise contract lands on Colossyan.
HeyGen. HeyGen puts SCORM export and LMS integrations on Business, at $149 a month plus $20 per seat. It suits a team that also wants marketing avatars and 4K output; for training-only libraries Colossyan is the cheaper door to an LMS.
Getting started
How to use Colossyan turns a policy PDF into a training video with a quiz, through Cora's storyboard and a reviewer, and exports it as SCORM. When the real backlog is that nobody owns enablement content between marketing, sales and HR, that is an organisation question before it is a tool one, and an interim CMO settles ownership first.
