What Is Fireflies.ai? Call Transcripts, Search and AI Skills
By Joris van Huët · Fireflies.ai's own site
The short answer: if your team spends its week on sales or customer calls and wants every one transcribed, summarised and searchable without anyone typing, Fireflies.ai does that from $10 a seat a month on Pro with annual billing, or $18 billed monthly, on the pricing page checked on 26 October 2026. Its bot, Fred, joins Zoom, Google Meet and Teams calls.
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
Before you roll it out to a team:
- Multiply by every teammate. Anyone added to the workspace is a seat, per the pricing FAQ. For example, eight people on Business billed annually cost 8 x $19 = $152 a month, and 8 x $29 = $232 on monthly billing. Recap links can go to people outside the team at no charge.
- Start from the calendar you already have. By default Fred joins every meeting with a web-conference link, per the pre-meeting guide, so write the recording and restriction rules before the first week.
- Check credits after the first skills run. AI Skills charge AI credits per request, and the amount depends on the work involved, per the skills guide.
What Fireflies does
Fred records, transcribes and summarises calls in 100+ languages, and a Chrome extension records Google Meet without a bot, per the homepage. Desktop and mobile apps cover other calls and in-person meetings. After the call come notes, action items and AskFred, which answers questions about past meetings.
The parts that go past note-taking: AI Skills, which run your own instructions after each meeting or on a schedule; Topic Tracker for words like pricing or competitor names; conversation analytics; CRM and Slack integrations; and an MCP server that lets Claude or ChatGPT query your meetings.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits a sales-heavy company that wants a shared record of customer conversations and CRM notes filled in for it.
It suits less well a team that needs long recordings on the cheaper plans, because Free and Pro stop at 2 hours a meeting, Business at 3 and Enterprise at 4, per the pricing page. It is also more than you need if all you want is private notes for yourself.
Plans and prices
Checked on 26 October 2026 on the pricing page, in USD per seat per month:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | AI credits | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 20 | 400 minutes |
| Pro | $18 | $10 | 20 | 8,000 minutes per seat |
| Business | $29 | $19 | 30 | Unlimited |
| Enterprise | Not offered | $39 | 50 | Unlimited |
The free plan's limits sit in its help article rather than on the pricing page: three transcriptions until you switch Auto Join on, and 20 AI credits granted once. The pricing page gives the 400 minutes of storage per team, the help article per seat. Auto Join turns three transcriptions into unlimited ones, and it is also the setting that fills the workspace the paid storage and credits are sold against, so Fireflies gains from it before you do; set the join rules first, then switch it on.
How it compares
Granola keeps no meeting bot and no audio: it writes up the notes you type from your computer's sound, per its transcription guide. Private notes point to Granola; a team library of recorded calls points to Fireflies.
Otter.ai lists transcription in six languages and 300 free minutes a month on its pricing page, with Pro at $8.33 a user a month billed annually. If your calls are in English and volume is light, that difference settles it.
Notta leans toward files and languages: 58 transcription languages and translation of transcripts, per its homepage. It suits interviews and recordings more than a sales floor.

FAQ
Can Fireflies record without a bot in the call?
Yes, for Google Meet through the Chrome extension, and through the desktop app for other calls, per the homepage.
How do other participants find out they are being recorded?
You can switch on an email that warns attendees an hour before, with a link to stop Fred joining, and a pinned chat message when it joins, per the consent guide.
Is meeting data used to train AI models?
Fireflies says no: its homepage states that data is never used for AI training and lists zero data retention.
