What Is Keap? One Plan for CRM, Automation and Payments
By Joris van Huët · Keap's own site
The short answer: Keap is not a CRM you drift into on a free plan: the pricing page starts at $299 a month, billed monthly, with its price calculator set at 2 users and 1,500 contacts, and an implementation package is required (checked on 24 October 2026). It fits a small service business that wants lead capture, follow-up, booking, invoicing and payments in one system, set up properly.
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
Red flags before you sign:
- The first-year figure, not the monthly one. For example, 12 x $299 = $3,588, plus the $500 package, is $4,088 for two users; a third user adds 12 x $39 = $468, using the pricing page and the implementation page.
- What you bring with you. The package lists basic data import, up to 15 hours of migration services, two automations launched for you and up to two third-party tools integrated, per the implementation page. List your lead sources and tools before the first call.
- What a trial can prove. The free trial sends at most 25 emails and needs DKIM set up first, per the pricing FAQ, so it tests the builder, not your inbox placement.
What Keap does
Keap holds contacts with tags, custom fields and lead scoring, and its automation builder runs multi-step campaigns from a trigger (a form submitted, a purchase, a tag applied) to emails, texts, tags and pipeline moves, per Keap's overview article. Around it sit landing pages, broadcasts, booking, quotes, invoices and recurring payments. The pricing page adds an AI Content Assistant for emails, an AI Automation Assistant that builds campaigns from templates, an API and a native Zapier integration.
Keap's help centre, now on Thryv's site, also documents a connector for Claude that manages contacts, tags and tasks, with deletes left out on purpose.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits an owner-led service business that sells directly and wants every step from enquiry to paid invoice automated in one place. It suits less well a business outside the United States that wants text campaigns, which the pricing page limits to the United States, or a team that wants to start small.
What it costs, checked on 24 October 2026
The pricing page shows one platform plan from $299 a month billed monthly, with 2 user licences included and extra users at $39 a month each; extra contacts are priced in tiers. The implementation page shows the required package as a one-time $500, with $1,500 struck through. The included texting tier covers 500 messages and 100 voice minutes; paid tiers run from $24 to $279 a month.
A required implementation package serves both sides: it raises the odds that the software gets used, and it raises the first-year bill. Price it in either way.
How it compares
Against HighLevel, the question is who you serve: HighLevel's pricing page starts at $97 a month for 3 sub-accounts with unlimited contacts and users, plus usage charges: a model for agencies running client accounts, where Keap prices one business by users and contacts.
Against HubSpot, it is how you want to grow: HubSpot starts free and sells hubs and seats one at a time on its Marketing Hub pricing, while Keap sells the whole platform from day one.
Getting started
How to use Keap follows one job: every web lead gets an email, a tag and a task for the owner within minutes of submitting a form. If the trouble is the stack around Keap rather than Keap itself, a one-week review like the Startup Fixer covers it.
FAQ
Is there a free trial?
Yes, with no credit card. The pricing FAQ lists its limits: 25 emails at most, no payments and no texts.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes, though an annual contract ended early costs $299, and the pricing FAQ wants the request by phone 10 days before the next invoice.
Does Keap work with AI assistants?
Yes, through the Claude connector, which needs a paid Claude plan and can add contacts to existing automations but not create new ones. The connector article calls it beta and advises verifying every response.
