What Is tl;dv? A Meeting Recorder With Cross-Call AI
By Joris van Huët · tl;dv's own site
The short answer: you are not misreading tl;dv's limits: its pricing page allows up to 5 questions across several meetings on Free and Pro, its help centre says 10, and in both cases the allowance never renews, so unlimited cross-call questions start on Business at $29 a seat a month on annual billing, checked on 26 October 2026 on the pricing page and in the Ask AI article. tl;dv records, transcribes and summarises Zoom, Google Meet and Teams calls, for teams that want to ask questions of all their calls at once.

Before you lean on the free plan:
- Its limits are lifetime, not monthly. The free plan article gives 10 meetings with full AI notes, then notes on the first 10 minutes only, plus 10 AI prompts, 4 clips and 5 uploads. For example, a rep on five calls a week uses the 10 full notes in 10 / 5 = 2 weeks.
- Your CRM link draws on credits. Free includes 20 integration credits, and each HubSpot, Salesforce or Zapier trigger spends one, per the same article.
- See which limit you hit first. After two weeks of real calls, check whether AI notes, prompts or integration credits ran out first; that limit, not the feature list, tells you which plan to buy.
What tl;dv does
A bot joins Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, or the desktop app records your computer's audio without one, with no video, per the bot-free article. Transcripts come in 30+ languages, AI notes follow templates such as MEDDIC, and a drafter writes the follow-up email, per the homepage.
The part that sets it apart is cross-call work. Ask tl;dv AI takes questions across more than 100 selected meetings, scheduled AI reports land in your inbox, and Smart Trackers are recurring reports on keywords such as competitor names. Clips and reels cut moments out of calls, and an MCP connector lets Claude or ChatGPT query your meetings on Pro and above.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It suits sales, customer success and product teams that want patterns across many customer calls, and European teams: the pricing page lists hosting and storage in the EU and EU AI Act compliance.
It suits less well anyone who needs meetings longer than 3 hours, the cap on every plan, or who only wants private notes and no video.
Prices
Checked on 26 October 2026 on the pricing page, with storage from the retention article, in USD per seat per month:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Cross-call AI | Recordings kept |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Lifetime allowance | 3 months |
| Pro | $29 | $18 | Lifetime allowance | As long as you subscribe |
| Business | $39 | $29 | Unlimited | Custom |
| Enterprise | Quoted | Quoted | Unlimited | Custom |
Business also adds custom vocabulary, scheduled reports without a cap, playbook monitoring and objection handling, with "no usage-based AI fees". On Free, deleting recordings after 3 months, with downloads open only in the last 4 weeks, sets a clock that runs in tl;dv's favour, per the retention article; if you stay on Free, put a monthly export in the calendar.
How it compares
Fireflies.ai costs less per seat, from $10 a month on annual billing for Pro, but meters its AI Skills with credits, per its pricing page. If you will ask many questions across calls, tl;dv Business is the flatter bill.
Granola stores no audio or video at all and writes up notes from your own computer's sound, per its transcription guide. If you need clips to show the team what a customer said, tl;dv; if you need your own notes, Granola.

FAQ
Can tl;dv record without a bot joining?
Yes. The desktop app for Mac or Windows records system audio and your microphone without a bot, but not video, screen sharing or chat, per the bot-free article.
Can participants refuse to be recorded?
Yes, with Consent Collection on: the calendar link sends people to a consent page first, and if they decline, tl;dv does not record that meeting, per the consent article.
How long can one recording be?
Three hours on every plan, for recorded and uploaded meetings, per the free plan article.
