What Is Flodesk? Design-Led Email for Creators
By Joris van Huët · Flodesk's own site
The short answer: if your brand lives on how things look, as a photographer, designer or coach, Flodesk starts from layouts, custom fonts and brand colours rather than from a list manager. It no longer has flat unlimited pricing for new members: since 2 December 2025 the bill follows your active subscribers, and Lite starts at $25 a month on monthly billing for up to 1,000 (pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026).
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
What to look at before the trial ends:
- Count only the people who count. Flodesk bills on active subscribers; unconfirmed, unsubscribed, bounced and cleaned contacts do not count (pricing model article). For example, a list of 1,150 with 200 who never confirmed is 1,150 - 200 = 950 active, inside the 1,000 tier.
- Check it does what your old tool did. Flodesk has no RSS to email (help centre), so a self-sending blog digest becomes a manual email.
- Pick the report. Paid plans include email analytics (pricing page); decide which figure you will read each month.
What Flodesk does
Flodesk's homepage leads with design: custom fonts, brand colours, patented layouts, countdown timers and polls inside emails, plus link actions that segment people by what they click. Around them sit opt-in forms, workflows, sales pages and a checkout for products, subscriptions and payment plans.
Its connector for Claude and ChatGPT answers questions about emails, subscribers, forms and sales, and asks you to confirm before any change or removal.
Who it fits
It fits creators and small brands who sell their own work and want every email to look like them. It fits less well a team that needs complex automation, RSS digests or several brands in one login: Flodesk is designed for one brand per account (getting started articles).
Plans and what they cost
USD, for up to 1,000 subscribers, from the Flodesk pricing page on 24 October 2026:
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing, per month | Key additions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | Forms and landing pages |
| Lite | $25 | $19 | Unlimited sends, email analytics, 1 seat, up to 25,000 subscribers |
| Pro | $28 | $25 | Advanced tools, 1 checkout |
| Everything | $54 | $49 | Unlimited checkouts, sales pages, payment plans, abandoned cart, 3 seats |
Prices rise with the active subscriber count. Pass your tier and Flodesk moves you up at the next billing date without stopping sends, warning at 90%, 95% and 100%; members who paid before 2 December 2025 keep their legacy unlimited plan (pricing FAQ). Checkout adds no Flodesk fee on top of Stripe's.
One inconsistency: the Free card lists email sending, while the FAQ says Free has no email sending or workflows. Check in the app.
How it compares
Kit. Kit is organised around tags, sequences and an open API (developer site). Choose Kit for routing subscribers through logic and integrations, Flodesk for an email that looks like your brand without a designer.
Mailchimp. Mailchimp's Essentials plan starts at $13 a month and its Standard plan at $20, with overages past a contact or send limit (Mailchimp pricing). Flodesk includes unlimited sends on every paid plan, so a frequent sender to a small list pays no overage.
Flodesk's homepage adds up the tools it says it replaces into one monthly figure. A vendor's own sum grades its own homework; count only the tools you would cancel.
Starting out
Authenticate the domain, then build a segment, a form and a delivery workflow: How to use Flodesk follows the help centre.
FAQ
Does Flodesk still offer unlimited subscribers for one price?
Not to new members. The flat-rate unlimited plan was retired for new sign-ups on 2 December 2025; paid members from before that date keep it while they stay subscribed (pricing FAQ).
Is there a free trial?
Yes, with access to the paid features and no credit card. When it ends you choose a paid plan or move to Free, which keeps forms and landing pages.
Can I sell from Flodesk outside the United States?
Checkout runs on Stripe in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Euro Area countries, according to the pricing FAQ.
