What Is Fullstory? Replay and Funnels, Priced on Request

By Joris van Huët · Fullstory's own site

The short answer: if you want funnel and conversion analysis for a checkout and accept that the price arrives in a sales call, Fullstory fits: Business, Advanced and Enterprise are quoted on request, and the only published figure is FullstoryFree, 30,000 sessions a month with a year of retention (plans page, FullstoryFree article, checked on 5 November 2026). Funnels are on every plan, Free included; the Conversions view that ranks what to fix is on Advanced and Enterprise (funnels article, Conversions guide).

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Before the demo call:

  1. Size the free plan against your traffic. Fullstory pauses capture at the limit rather than sampling: for example, 1,500 sessions a day fills 30,000 in 30,000 / 1,500 = 20 days, and from day 21 nothing new is captured until the cycle resets (session limit article).
  2. Name the events you can already define. Funnel steps are events, created under Settings, Data Management, Events, or from an element in a replay (define events article). If nobody can describe the checkout as five events, the tool has nothing to count.
  3. Know what the analysis can say. Fullstory's tips state that Conversions opportunities are correlations and that fewer than 100 users at the final step make confident findings hard (Conversions tips).

What Fullstory analyses

The homepage calls Fullstory "the most trusted name in AI analytics" and splits it into Analytics for the customer journey, Workforce for employee workflows, and Anywhere for sending behavioural data to a warehouse (homepage). Fullcapture records every interaction on web and mobile; on top sit session replay, heatmaps, funnels of up to 20 steps counted by unique users or sessions, journeys, segments and dashboards (funnels article). StoryAI adds summaries, Opportunities that rank drop-offs, and an agent that watches a funnel against a three-week baseline, which needs StoryAI Premium (funnel drops article).

The MCP server exposes 33 tools to Claude, Cursor, Codex and any MCP client, among them compute_funnel and get_funnel_sessions, which returns the sessions that dropped at a step with replay links, on every paid plan per the vendor (MCP page, tools reference). Data lives on Google Cloud, in the US by default, with an EU data centre on europe-west3 since August 2022 (data residency article); the DPA applies automatically for accounts with EU or UK customers (GDPR article).

Who it suits, and who it does not

A product or ecommerce team with an engineer who can name events and a budget that survives a quote. The free plan suits a site under 30,000 sessions a month that wants replays and a funnel, if someone signs up with a business email domain, since Gmail-type addresses are refused (FullstoryFree article). It suits less well a marketing lead who wants a price on the page, or a team with nobody to define events.

What it costs

Nothing is published for Business, Advanced or Enterprise; the plans page sends each to a pricing and demo request, with Mobile, StoryAI, Guides and Surveys and Multi-Org Management as add-ons (checked on 5 November 2026). FullstoryFree is $0, no card, 30,000 sessions and 5,000 server-side events a month, 10 seats, a year of retention, community support only, and no Dashboards or StoryAI (FullstoryFree article).

The free plan has no card and no end date, and its fee is in the terms: by using it you grant Fullstory ownership rights to the anonymised, non-PII data it collects, a line the same article says paid plans do not carry, so every free site is also a data source for the vendor.

How it compares

Hotjar. Hotjar signups now land on Contentsquare, whose free plan counts 200k sessions a month and whose Growth plan is $39 a month billed yearly from 7k sessions (Contentsquare pricing, checked on 5 November 2026). Choose it for a published price and surveys in the same account.

LogRocket. LogRocket publishes a starting figure of $176 a month on annual savings and a 14-day trial, with no free plan listed (checked on 5 November 2026).

Microsoft Clarity. Clarity is free with no limits on traffic, per its homepage, for when replays and heatmaps are the whole job.

Amplitude. Its free plan includes 10K monthly session replays alongside 2M events, with one month of replay retention and no heatmaps (Amplitude pricing, checked on 5 November 2026). Choose it when product analytics comes first.

Getting started

Sign up for FullstoryFree with a company address and install with Private by Default on; how to use Fullstory builds a checkout funnel, opens the sessions that dropped at the worst step, and has Claude pull the counts over MCP while a person decides.

FAQ

Does Fullstory offer funnel and conversion analytics for ecommerce and SaaS teams?

Yes, in two layers. Funnels, with per-step counts, conversion rate and median time between steps, are on every plan (funnels article); Conversions, which lists the signals correlated with completing or abandoning, is on Enterprise and Advanced (Conversions guide).

Is Fullstory's pricing public?

No. Every paid plan is quoted on request; FullstoryFree's limits are the only numbers on the plans page.

Can Claude query a Fullstory account?

Yes, over the Fullstory MCP server, once an Admin turns on StoryAI features; without that setting the client connects and shows zero tools (Claude setup guide). It creates only drafts a person must save, and caps tables and sessions at 50 (limits page).
