What Is invideo? An Agentic Editor for Your Own Footage

By Joris van Huët · invideo's own site

The short answer: invideo is no longer mainly a template video maker. Its homepage now sells an agentic video editor: you upload footage, describe the edit in plain words, and AI agents cut, grade and mix on a multitrack timeline that you can take over at any frame (homepage). For a marketing team with its own interviews and product footage, Starter at $20 a seat a month on monthly billing gives the full timeline, and manual editing on it costs no credits (pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026).

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

What decides the bill:

  1. Hands are free, agents are not. Trimming, splitting and arranging by hand use no credits; agent work and model generation do, by model and settings (credits article). For example, 3 seats on Starter cost 3 x $20 = $60 a month and bring 400 credits each.
  2. Bring the edit you already started. The editor opens Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve projects, and exports editable projects back to Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or Resolve (editor introduction).
  3. Cap spending before the first brief. Each agent reply shows its credit cost in its menu, Project Usage totals the project, and you can set a credit limit per project (agent credits article).

What the editor does now

invideo Editor runs in the browser with a multitrack timeline, keyframes, colour grading, an audio mixer and effects. Its agent logs what is in each clip, so you can find a moment by describing it, and applies one instruction across every shot. You can build custom agents for roles such as colourist. Generated shots, voiceovers and music come from third-party models at the provider's list price (plans and credits article), and teams edit together with live cursors.

An official MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or other MCP clients edit the same timeline while you watch each change land.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits an in-house content team or agency that shoots its own material. It suits less a buyer who needs a fixed cost per video: the pricing FAQ says credit costs can change at any time without notice, and unused plan credits do not roll over.

The annual prices carried a banner offering 50% off all annual plans, so check the rate after the offer ends. A free plan gives limited credits that reset every Monday at 12 a.m. UTC (free plan article). Exports and downloads use no credits.

Credits billed at the model provider's list price pass the model's cost straight to you, so the vendor earns the same whether your brief is tight or wasteful. The per-project limit is the control on your side.

Against the alternatives

FlexClip. FlexClip begins from templates, with AI as a credit add-on to a flat editor plan, Plus at $19.99 a month on monthly billing (FlexClip pricing). Templates for promos favour FlexClip; your own footage favours invideo.

Fliki. Fliki turns text into narrated video over stock or AI visuals, Standard at $28 a month (Fliki pricing). If the source is an article, not footage, Fliki is the shorter road.

Pictory. Pictory edits a recording by editing its transcript, filler words out with one toggle (filler words guide). Webinar highlights favour it; a polished cut does not.

Getting started

How to use invideo cuts raw product and interview footage into a launch video, then has Claude rebuild it as a vertical through the MCP server, with a person reviewing the timeline.
