What Is Pictory? Video From Scripts, Links and Recordings

By Joris van Huët · Pictory's own site

The short answer: Pictory makes video from what a marketing team already has: a script, a blog link, a deck, an audio file, or a recording it transcribes so you can cut the video by editing the text (homepage). It suits a team turning webinars and articles into short clips, and Starter costs $29 a month on monthly billing for 2,000 credits, which Pictory sizes at up to 30 video minutes a month (pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026).

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Three checks before you pay:

  1. Price generated footage on its own. Stock from Getty Images and Storyblocks comes with the plan, while generated clips are charged per second: 10 credits on Veo 3.1 Fast without audio, up to 40 on Veo 3.1 with audio (AI credits article). For example, an 8-second Veo 3.1 Fast clip is 8 x 10 = 80 credits, 4% of Starter's monthly 2,000.
  2. Start from the recordings on your drive. The editor transcribes an upload, a YouTube link or a Google Drive file (input guide); words you delete from the transcript leave the video (recorded video guide).
  3. Name the result each clip must move. A replay sign-up, a demo request, a view-through on LinkedIn: pick one per clip and give it its own tagged link before you post.

What Pictory does

Pictory 3, the current version, is built around an AI video agent. You describe the video and add sources, answer five setup questions (voice, visuals, aspect ratio, layout preset, brand kit), check the script and scenes it drafts, preview, ask for changes in chat or the editor, and then generate (Pictory 3 page). Beside it sit the single-purpose tools, from URL and PPT to video to the transcript editor that strips filler words and silences and cuts long recordings into clips. Voices come from ElevenLabs, avatars are stock or custom, and Zapier and Make connect it to other apps (integrations page).

Who it suits, and who it does not

It suits a content team that records more than it publishes: webinars, podcasts, sales calls, founder talks. Brand kits scale with the plan, 1 on Starter, 5 on Professional and 10 on Teams. It suits less a training team that needs completion data in an LMS, because SCORM export, quizzes and clickable calls to action are Enterprise only on the pricing page.

Annual plans grant all credits up front, and the free trial gives 300 credits with no card. The annual column sits beside struck-out "Was" prices, which are there to make a year's commitment feel like a saving. It is one only if the credits granted on day one get used.

Side by side

Fliki. Fliki leads with its voice library and charges mostly for narration, Standard at $28 a month on monthly billing for 180 credits (Fliki pricing, same date). Many languages and voices favour Fliki; recordings to cut favour Pictory.

invideo. invideo gives you a multitrack timeline and an agent that edits your footage on it, from $20 a seat a month (invideo pricing). That suits a polished launch cut; a quick highlight from a webinar is faster here.

Synthesia. Synthesia puts an AI presenter at the centre, Starter at $14 a month billed yearly. A talking avatar as the message favours Synthesia; stock footage with captions favours Pictory.
