The short answer: upload the webinar to Pictory's AI video editor, let it transcribe, switch on Remove filler words and Remove silences, select the sentences that make each clip, send them through Customize video to add your brand, generate and download each clip with its caption file, then brief the AI video agent for a 60-second teaser and approve its script before it builds anything.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

A webinar is an hour of your most senior people answering the questions buyers ask, and most of it is watched once. Pictory edits a recording by its transcript: delete a sentence from the text and it leaves the video (recorded video guide). That makes finding the four good minutes a reading job rather than a scrubbing job. For plans and prices, see the Pictory glossary entry.

What to settle first:

  1. Budget the clips in minutes. Starter is $29 a month on monthly billing for 2,000 credits, which Pictory sizes at up to 30 video minutes a month (pricing page, checked on 26 October 2026). For example, eight 90-second clips are 12 minutes, inside Starter; the same eight clips every week for a month are 48 minutes, which needs Professional at $59 and its 90.
  2. Use the recording you already have. An MP4 or MOV from Zoom or Teams works, as does a YouTube link or a file from a connected Google Drive (input guide). The 300 trial credits, with no card, are enough to run the whole method on one webinar (homepage).
  3. Decide what each clip is for. One clip, one question answered, one link. Give every clip a tagged link to the replay or the booking page so you can tell later which answer brought people in.

Step 1: Upload and set the language

On the homepage, select AI video editor and upload the recording, or paste the YouTube link and click Proceed. Set the language before you continue; it defaults to American English, and a wrong setting gives a wrong transcript (recorded video guide). Transcription runs in the background: click Home to work on something else, and watch the bell icon or your inbox for the notice that it is done.

Step 2: Clean the speech

When the transcript opens on the left with the video on the right, switch on Remove filler words at the top. Pictory marks "uh" and "um" in red and removes them from both the transcript and the video, so they vanish from the subtitles and the audio. Select any other word, such as a speaker's habitual "so", and choose Add as filler word to remove every instance (filler words guide).

Then switch on Remove silences and set the shortest pause to cut, anywhere from 1 to 99 seconds. Each removed silence leaves an undo icon on the transcript in case a pause was doing work (silences guide).

Step 3: Read the transcript and mark the clips

Read the transcript with a highlighter mindset. A good clip is a complete answer: the question restated, the point, one example, and no reference to a slide the viewer cannot see. Select those sentences.

To download a clip straight away, choose Download video from the drop-down; generation runs in the background and the bell icon tracks it (short clips guide). To brand it first, choose Add to summary instead, then in the Summary tab tick the sentences for that clip and click Customize video. Repeat for each clip.

Step 4: Set the shape before you brand

On the transcription page, the aspect ratio button at the top right offers Landscape, Portrait and Square, plus Original size when the recording is none of those, and the preview changes as you pick (aspect ratio guide). Portrait suits most feeds; keep a landscape version for LinkedIn and your own site if the speaker's slides matter.

Step 5: Brand the clip in the storyboard

Customize video moves the selection to the storyboard, where you add background music, b-roll, your logo, an intro and outro, and your brand colours and fonts (short clips guide). Stock previews can show Storyblocks or Getty Images watermarks and the odd audio glitch; neither appears in the download (preview watermark article).

Step 6: Generate and export

Click Generate Video, or Customize Video if something still needs changing. Progress shows in the notifications. When it finishes you can download the video, copy a share link, share through Vimeo, or export the text as SRT, VTT or TXT (export guide). Upload the SRT with the clip on platforms that accept a caption file, so the captions stay searchable text rather than pixels.

Step 7: Brief the AI video agent for the teaser

The clips answer questions. A teaser sells the replay, and that is a job for Pictory 3's AI video agent. Describe the video, for example "a 60-second teaser for the pricing webinar replay, for finance leads", and add sources: the webinar's recap page as a URL, or the deck. Answer the five setup questions on voiceover, visuals, aspect ratio, layout preset and brand kit, or choose Decide for me (Pictory 3 page).

The agent then drafts a script and scenes and stops for review before it builds the preview. This is the human check, and it belongs to whoever owns the webinar's claims: read every line of the story text, because it is what the voice speaks and what the captions show. Ask the agent for focused changes, naming the scene and what to keep, for example "Replace the visual in scene 3, keep the narration and the scene order." Generate the preview, play it end to end, and only then generate the video.

The agent loop is quick, and quick generation is how a credit plan gets used up. The review before the preview costs nothing; the regeneration after a missed error does.

Mistakes Pictory's help centre covers

  • The wrong transcription language. It defaults to American English; change it before upload for a non-English webinar (recorded video guide).
  • Deleting text to fix a caption. Deleting words or sentences from the transcript cuts them from the video; other text changes affect only the subtitles.
  • Cutting every pause. Remove silences takes out natural breaks too; use the undo icon on any line where the pause carried the point (silences guide).

FAQ

How long does transcription take?

Pictory's guides do not give a time; they say it may take a few moments and runs in the background, with a notification and an email when it is ready (recorded video guide).

Can I change the resolution without the storyboard?

Yes. On the transcription page, Download video offers 720p or 1080p, per the aspect ratio guide.

Can this run without anyone opening Pictory?

Partly. Pictory connects to Zapier and Make to generate videos from text, templates or links when a trigger fires (integrations page). Picking the right four minutes of a webinar is still a person's call.
