What Is Omnisend? Email and SMS for Online Stores

The short answer: if you run a Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce store and want cart, browse and post-purchase emails to carry most of the revenue, Omnisend is built for that, with SMS in the same workflows. Its Standard plan costs $16 a month on monthly billing for 500 contacts, and the free plan stops at 250 contacts and 500 emails a month, per the pricing page checked on 24 October 2026.

Before you pick a tier:
- Run the send arithmetic first. Standard allows 12 sends per contact a month, so 500 contacts x 12 = 6,000 emails. Pro removes the monthly cap and costs $59 for up to 2,500 contacts, against $44 for Standard at that size, so the step up is $59 - $44 = $15 a month (pricing page).
- Start from the store you already have. Each Omnisend account connects one store; a second storefront needs a second account, according to the Shopify connection guide.
- Decide now how you will check the revenue figure. Omnisend reports revenue attribution for campaigns and automations (getting started guide). Hold a month of it against your store's order export before calling it money the emails made.
What Omnisend does
Omnisend describes itself as a multichannel marketing platform built for ecommerce (getting started guide). You connect the store, Omnisend pulls in customers, products and orders, and those events start prebuilt workflows: welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase. Email, SMS and web push sit inside the same workflow.
Segments run on purchase history, engagement and location. The pricing page lists Facebook Custom Audiences and Google Customer Match on every plan, and notes that MMS reaches only the United States and Canada while plain SMS goes worldwide. For AI assistants there is an MCP server with OAuth sign-in and a read-only preset on the consent screen.
Where it fits, and where it does not
It fits a store whose order data is the segmentation: repeat buyers, a catalogue worth recommending, carts worth recovering. It fits less well a B2B team nurturing leads, a newsletter with no shop behind it, or several storefronts run from one login.

Paying three months upfront takes 30% off those first three months, after which billing is monthly. Pro adds SMS at volume rates from $0.007 a message, and lists of more than 150,000 active profiles go to sales, all on the same pricing page.
How it compares
Klaviyo. Klaviyo's free plan has the same ceiling, 250 profiles and 500 emails a month on its pricing page, so the free tiers do not separate them; the price at your list size does. Omnisend's homepage promises a bill up to 35% smaller than Klaviyo's. A vendor's own comparison grades its own homework, so price your contact count on both pages before you believe either.
Brevo. Brevo sells its Starter plan by monthly email volume, $9 for 5,000 emails with transactional email on the same plan (Brevo pricing). It suits a business that wants order emails and newsletters from one sender more than a shop that lives on cart and browse flows.

FAQ
Is the free plan a time-limited trial?
No. The pricing FAQ says the free plan runs for an unlimited time with the features of the paid plans, limited to 500 emails a month to 250 contacts (pricing page).
Can one account run two Shopify stores?
No. The Shopify connection guide says each account supports one connected store, so a second store gets its own account.
What happens if I uninstall the Omnisend app from Shopify?
The same guide warns that uninstalling triggers deletion of the Omnisend account after 16 days, with email warnings at 10 days and 3 days. Ask support before uninstalling to troubleshoot.
