The short answer: for a store with about 5,000 subscribers, the choice is whether your email starts from store events or from one sending account for everything. Omnisend starts from the store: cart, browse, order and shipping flows on every plan, $81 a month on monthly billing for 5,000 contacts on Standard, or $90 on Pro with unlimited email and SMS. Brevo starts from the sender: campaigns and app emails in one volume, $69 a month on Standard at the 20,000-email step that fits 5,000 contacts (Omnisend pricing, Brevo pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Choose Omnisend if your job is store revenue from automated flows and texts. Choose Brevo if your job also includes account and password emails from an app, or WhatsApp later.

What Omnisend changes, set against Brevo, is the starting point of every message. In Omnisend an order, a cart or a product view triggers a workflow, and its order confirmation guide says automation workflows run on all plans. In Brevo an email is a campaign, an automation from Standard up, or a transactional message your own system sends through its API or SMTP, which every plan includes (pricing FAQ).
Start from the store you have:
- Check the platform first. Omnisend's homepage lists Shopify, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Wix and Ecwid among its platforms. Brevo's ecommerce page names WooCommerce, Shopify and PrestaShop among the sources it reads.
- Put a year of each bill on paper. For example, at 5,000 subscribers on monthly billing, Omnisend Standard is $81 x 12 = $972 and Brevo Standard is $69 x 12 = $828, a difference of $144 a year before any discount (Omnisend pricing, Brevo pricing).
- Check who sends the order confirmation today. Omnisend does not switch off your store's own confirmation email, and on Shopify outside Plus it cannot be fully disabled, so the guide suggests trimming it to a short thank-you to avoid two full emails (order confirmation guide).
- Judge one flow on store data. Take the abandoned cart flow and count recovered orders in your store's own order report each week, not only in the email tool's dashboard.
Store jobs, tool by tool
| Store job | Omnisend | Brevo |
|---|---|---|
| Cart, browse and post-purchase flows | Workflows on every plan, Free included (homepage) | Multi-step automation from Standard (pricing) |
| Order and shipping confirmations | Store-triggered workflows; reach non-subscribed contacts by default (guide) | Transactional email by API or SMTP on every plan |
| Password resets and app messages | Outside the store workflows its guides describe | Same transactional route, same volume |
| Text messages | Pro, from $0.007 a message at volume (pricing) | SMS credits sold separately |
| Not on the pricing page | Professional, $499 a month | |
| Product recommendations | Omnisend Agent's recommender, paid plans (agent guide) | AI recommendations on Professional |
| Monthly email allowance | Standard 12 times the list; Pro unlimited | Volume steps, campaigns and transactional together |
| Free plan | 250 contacts, 500 emails a month | 300 emails a day |
The differences that decide it
Flows that start from the store
Omnisend's homepage leads with welcome, abandoned cart and post-purchase workflows, and its free plan includes every feature at small volume, so a store can build its flows before paying (pricing FAQ). Brevo reads store data too, but its multi-step automation starts on Standard and its advanced ecommerce features, AI recommendations, back-in-stock alerts and coupons, sit on Professional at $499 a month (pricing). A store that wants recommendations in email reaches them far cheaper on Omnisend.
One sender for app and shop
Brevo's pricing FAQ gives every plan transactional email through RESTful APIs and SMTP, with webhooks and unlimited log retention, and counts it in the same volume as campaigns (pricing). That covers a password reset from a customer portal as easily as an order email. Omnisend's confirmations are workflows fired by store events, which suits a shop and stops there. A brand that runs an app or member area beside its store needs Brevo's route, or a second provider.
Texts inside the same flow
Omnisend Pro sends SMS at volume rates and unlimited email for $90 at 5,000 contacts; its page prices $50 of credits at 5,882 messages to the United States (pricing). Brevo sells SMS credits beside every plan and adds WhatsApp on Professional (pricing). For a cart flow that mixes an email and a text, Omnisend keeps both in one plan.
What 5,000 subscribers cost, by billing option
USD, checked on 26 October 2026 on the Omnisend pricing page and the Brevo pricing page, with weekly campaigns, which puts Brevo at its 20,000-email step.
| Billing option | Omnisend Standard | Brevo Standard |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly billing | $81 a month | $69 a month |
| First three months paid up front | $56.70 a month, then $81 | Not offered |
| Yearly billing | Not offered | $62.08 a month |
| Twelve months on the cheapest option | 3 x $56.70 + 9 x $81 = $899.10 | 12 x $62.08 = $744.96 |
| Next plan up | Pro, $90, unlimited email and SMS | Professional, $499, from 150,000 emails |
A read-only connection first
Omnisend's MCP server connects Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client through https://mcp.omnisend.com/mcp, and you choose the access level on the consent screen. It can read campaigns, contacts, segments and analytics, and also send campaigns or delete segments if you grant write access. Omnisend's own advice is to use one Omnisend connector per chat and to keep brand connectors read-only. So connect read-only and ask it to compare last month's automations on sends, clicks and orders, and to name the step where each one loses the most people. The person who owns the store's email reads the answer, makes the change in Omnisend's editor and publishes it. Omnisend describes no separate approval step for write actions, so the access level is the human check.
Omnisend's pricing page leads with 30% off for paying three months up front, after which billing returns to the full monthly price; the table above shows what that saving is worth over a year. A launch offer is priced for the first invoice, and the decision should be priced for the twelfth.
Choose Omnisend if your job is
- Running store-triggered flows, from cart to shipping confirmation, on every plan.
- Mixing email and text messages in the same flow on one plan.
- Putting product recommendations in email without a $499 plan.
Choose Brevo if your job is
- Sending app or portal emails, such as password resets, through the same account as campaigns.
- Paying less for a list you mail weekly, especially on yearly billing.
- Keeping WhatsApp and a sales CRM in reach with the same vendor.
FAQ
Can Omnisend replace my store's order confirmation email?
It can send its own through an order confirmation workflow, on any plan. It does not disable the store's email for you, and on Shopify outside Plus the store's email cannot be fully turned off (guide).
Does Brevo connect to Shopify?
Yes. Its homepage names Shopify among 150+ connected tools, and its ecommerce page names Shopify, WooCommerce and PrestaShop as data sources (ecommerce page).
Is Omnisend's free plan enough to test flows?
Yes, at small volume. It includes every feature, SMS among them, for up to 250 contacts and 500 emails a month (pricing FAQ).
