What Is Encharge? Product-Event Email for SaaS Teams
By Joris van Huët · Encharge's own site
The short answer: If you run a B2B SaaS product with trials and fewer than 2,000 subscribers, Encharge's Growth plan at $79 a month billed yearly buys email flows started by what users do in your app and in Stripe, per its pricing page. The homepage describes a marketing automation platform "built specifically for B2B SaaS businesses" (Encharge): onboarding, trial conversion and churn emails, with HubSpot and Salesforce sync on the higher plan.

Three numbers to check first:
- Sends against overage. Growth allows sends of ten times your subscriber limit, and extra email costs $100 per 100,000 (pricing page). For example, the 2,000-subscriber tier allows 2,000 x 10 = 20,000 sends; a month of 120,000 sends is 100,000 over, a $100 charge.
- Events against your traffic. Page visits, API calls and Segment events count toward a monthly limit of 50 times the plan's subscribers on Growth and 100 times on Premium; past it, Encharge stops receiving events rather than upgrading you (pricing explained).
- The goal you will count. A Goal step records how many people in a flow reached it (Goal step). Decide the goal, such as a converted trial, before the flow goes live.
What Encharge does
Flows are built from triggers, filters and actions in a visual builder, and segments draw on page views, product behaviour, email activity and fields from other apps. Stripe, Chargebee, Chargify, Paddle and Recurly feed billing events in; Stripe alone has twelve triggers, from Trial Started to Subscription Contracted (Stripe triggers). Product events arrive through the Ingest API, JavaScript tracking or Segment (events article). Encharge sends the email itself, and its Magic Writer drafts subject lines and whole emails in the builder (Magic Writer).
Who it is for
A SaaS team whose emails should react to what a user did: finished onboarding or not, opened pricing, failed a payment. Custom product events need a developer. It does not do outbound: unsolicited email is not allowed, and only inbound leads, product users and contacts who gave permission may be imported (pricing page).
What it costs
USD, checked on 24 October 2026 on the Encharge pricing page, with a 14-day free trial.
| Subscribers | Growth, monthly | Growth, yearly per month | Premium, monthly | Premium, yearly per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2,000 | $99 | $79 | $159 | $129 |
| 5,000 | $179 | $139 | $269 | $219 |
| 10,000 | $249 | $199 | $399 | $319 |
Above 50,000 subscribers, Enterprise is priced on request. The plan table is where a SaaS buyer should slow down: event-based segments, the Ingest API, custom objects and the HubSpot, Salesforce and Segment integrations are marked not available on Growth, and Shopify and WooCommerce sit on Premium too. The subscriber slider sells the tier; the feature column decides it.
How it compares
ActiveCampaign prices per contact from $15 a month billed yearly for 1,000 contacts and puts contact scoring and site tracking on every plan, with a CRM add-on (ActiveCampaign pricing). Leads moving through a sales pipeline point there; triggers from your product and billing system point to Encharge.
Acumbamail prices in euros by monthly email volume, from a free plan of 2,000 emails to Basic at €24 a month for 20,000. It suits volume campaigns and newsletters rather than billing-driven flows.
Getting started
Connect Stripe in test mode, start from the trial conversion template, guard the trial-ending email and set a goal: How to use Encharge follows the help centre. If the real trouble is that product, billing and CRM data never meet, a one-week review like the Startup Fixer looks at the whole stack.
FAQ
Do I need SendGrid or Amazon SES as well?
No. Encharge sends the emails itself and needs no external email service provider, per the FAQ on its pricing page.
Who counts as a subscriber?
Everyone with an email address or a userId who has not unsubscribed, plus anonymous visitors who entered at least one flow; unsubscribed, archived and deleted people do not count (Encharge Pricing Explained).
Is domain verification optional?
No. Since 31 January 2024 a verified domain is mandatory to send, a change Encharge ties to Gmail and Yahoo's sender policies (domain article).
