What Is Frase? Research, Write and Publish for Search and AI

By Joris van Huët · Frase's own site

The short answer: if a content team of one to three people needs to research, brief, draft and publish articles for Google and AI answers from one place, Frase is built for that loop. Starter costs $49 a month month to month, or $39 billed yearly, for 10 articles a month on one site, per the Frase pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Work out three things before the 7-day trial ends:

  1. Cost per article. Month to month, Starter is $49 ÷ 10 = $4.90 per article and Professional $129 ÷ 40 = $3.225, using the pricing page. Professional also adds 2 seats and 4 sites.
  2. What it can see. Connect Google Search Console first: without it, Frase can research and write but cannot see how your published pages perform, per the data guide.
  3. When you will judge it. The pricing page itself says no tool ranks you inside a trial. Judge on Search Console clicks in the weeks after publishing.

What Frase does

Frase runs a loop. It listens through Search Console, AI Visibility and an on-site question widget; creates research, briefs and drafts in your Brand Hub voice; scores each draft for SEO, GEO and EEAT on a 0 to 100 scale; publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix or its own FraseCMS; and watches live pages with Content Guard, which proposes a fix when a page loses rank and republishes on your approval, per the Frase documentation.

An agent can draft and auto-publish on any plan when you switch that on. Every plan also includes the MCP server, CLI and API, with 5,000 requests a month on Starter, so Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor can run research and briefs from a chat, per the pricing page.

Who it suits

In-house content teams and agencies publishing at a steady rate, in any of 70 or more languages, with research and publishing in one tool. It suits less well a writer who only wants an editor with term suggestions, or a team whose real need is rank tracking.

Plans

From the pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026, in USD; Enterprise is custom:

PlanMonth to monthBilled yearly, per monthSeats and sitesArticles a month
Starter$49$391 and 110
Professional$129$1033 and 540
Scale$299$2395 and 10100

Starter stops at its limits; pay-as-you-go on the larger plans is off by default. A platform sold by articles per month gains when more articles ship, and the auto-publish switch serves that. Google's spam policies count generating many pages with AI and no added value as scaled content abuse, so the approval queue is the control to keep.

How it compares

  • NEURONwriter is an editor you write in, from $23 a month for 25 analyses on its pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026. Choose it when people write and the tool scores.
  • Surfer prices Standard at $99 a month billed yearly for 360 documents, on the Surfer pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026; its weight sits in on-page optimisation.
  • Jasper sells Pro at $69 per seat a month billed monthly, per the Jasper pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026. It is a brand content platform for all channels, not SEO research.

Getting started

Add your site, connect Search Console, run one research and approve the facts in the brief; how to use Frase follows that path. If the gap is that nobody owns the content programme, that is a leadership seat rather than a tool, the one an interim CMO fills.

FAQ

Does Frase publish without my approval?

Only if you switch auto-publish on. Content Guard waits for approval unless you opt in, per the pricing page.

Is the MCP server extra?

No. MCP, CLI and API run on every plan within the monthly request allowance, per the pricing page.

What happens when Starter hits its limit?

It holds at the limit and sends no surprise bill until you upgrade, the pricing page says.
