The short answer: if verified emails and mobiles are all you need, buying from Prospeo direct is the cheaper meter: Starter costs $49 per user a month for 2,000 credits, and an email costs 1, on its pricing page. The same email lookup through Clay's managed Prospeo account costs 2 Clay data credits per enriched cell, per Clay's Prospeo doc, and Launch sells data credits at $125 for 2,500 a month on the Clay pricing page. Both pages were checked on 26 October 2026. Clay earns its cost when the lookup is one step among several: a fit score, a condition, some research, an export.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Work out the unit price before the features:

  1. Price one verified email both ways. For example, Prospeo Starter is $49 / 2,000 = $0.0245 an email, per its pricing page. In Clay, Launch data credits cost $125 / 2,500 = $0.05 each, so a Clay-managed Prospeo email is 2 x $0.05 = $0.10, plus one action at $60 / 15,000 = $0.004, per the Clay pricing page.
  2. Use the Prospeo plan you may already have. Any Prospeo plan with API access, Starter, Growth or Pro, can connect to Clay with your own key; the lookups then spend Prospeo credits as the API does, per Prospeo's Clay article, and Clay still charges one action per enrichment, per its credits guide.
  3. Measure cost per usable row. After the first full run, divide what you spent by the rows that came out fit to contact. Clay's Usage page shows data credits by table, and Prospeo's API Management page shows the key's usage.

Prospeo is a finder with a database on top: people and company search, CSV and CRM enrichment, and an MCP server, priced per user. Clay is a router for data purchases: the same Prospeo lookup can run on Clay's account or on yours, at different prices, with whatever logic you put around it.

The three things that decide it

Two prices for one lookup

This is the Clay fact that matters here. Clay's Prospeo doc charges 2 credits per enriched cell when you use the Clay-managed Prospeo account, which is the default. Bought direct, the same email is 1 Prospeo credit. On entry plans that is $0.0245 an email direct against $0.104 through Clay, by the sum worked out above. The difference is the price of having the lookup inside a table with everything else.

Your key, or Clay's account

With your own key, Prospeo credits pay for the data and Clay charges only the action. Prospeo's Clay article adds a limit: the integration is linked to your account only and not shared across the team. If three people build tables, decide whose key the workspace runs on before the first import.

What Clay adds around the lookup

Prospeo answers one question per row. Clay lets you ask that question only when another column says it is worth asking: a conditional run that finds a mobile only for accounts above a score, or an email only where no CRM record exists. For example, on a list of 500 where 100 deserve a phone call, the condition skips 400 mobile lookups, which on your own key is 400 x 10 = 4,000 Prospeo credits, two months of a Starter seat's 2,000, per Prospeo's credits article.

One agent step: an AI gate in front of the mobile lookup

In Clay, add a Use AI column that reads each company's website and returns fit or no fit against your ideal customer, with a one-line reason. Put Prospeo's Find Mobile Number behind a run condition so it fires only on fit rows, which on your own key costs 10 Prospeo credits each, per Prospeo's credits article. The setup in Clay offers a "Save and run 10 rows" button, per Prospeo's Clay article. Use those ten: the person who owns the market reads the fit calls and reasons, fixes the prompt where it is wrong, and only then runs the rest.

What a monthly budget buys

Checked on 26 October 2026 on the Prospeo and Clay pricing pages, monthly billing in USD.

Monthly budgetProspeo, per userClay, per workspace
$0Free: 100 creditsFree: 500 actions, 100 data credits

$99Growth: 5,000 credits, HubSpot and Salesforce enrichmentNo plan at this price
$185No plan at this priceLaunch: 15,000 actions, 2,500 data credits
$249Pro: 15,000 credits, highest API rate limitsNo plan at this price

Yearly billing brings Prospeo to $37, $74 and $187 a month per user, per its pricing page, and Clay's Launch to $167 and Growth, at $495 monthly, to $446, per the Clay pricing page.

Clay's Prospeo doc says these actions auto-update every 24 hours by default and tells you to switch that off if you do not want it. A default that runs lookups on its own schedule also spends on its own schedule, since each enrichment that runs is billed an action under Clay's credits guide, so set it before the import rather than after the invoice.

Free first

Run 50 people you already know through both. On Prospeo's Free plan, 100 credits cover all 50 emails, per its pricing page. On Clay's Free plan, 100 data credits cover the same 50 at 2 each through the managed Prospeo account; Clay's free tier excludes phone enrichment, so test mobiles on Prospeo only, per the Clay pricing page. Same people, two routes: the results should match, and the cost difference is plain.

Choose Prospeo if

  • Your job is getting verified emails and mobiles into a CRM or sequencer at the lowest unit cost.
  • You enrich files and CRM records rather than designing workflows.
  • Each person on the team prospects for themselves.

Choose Clay if

  • Your job is a list where the Prospeo lookup is one step among scores, conditions, research and exports.
  • One person will own the tables and decide whose key they run on.
  • The conditions save more lookups than the Clay premium costs.

Each on its own: the Prospeo entry and the Clay entry. Prospeo against a seat-priced database: Prospeo vs Apollo.io.

FAQ

Does Prospeo work inside Clay?

Yes, two ways: through Clay's managed Prospeo account at 2 credits per enriched cell, or with your own Prospeo API key on Starter, Growth or Pro, per Clay's Prospeo doc and Prospeo's Clay article.

Do I pay twice when I bring my own Prospeo key to Clay?

For the data, no: Prospeo credits pay for it. For the platform, yes: Clay still counts one action per enrichment when you use your own key, per its credits guide.

Can my whole team share one Prospeo key in Clay?

Prospeo says the Clay integration is linked to your account only and is not shared across the team, per its Clay article.
