The short answer: for one business site under 10,000 visitors a month, 10Web's AI Starter costs $120 for a year billed annually and leaves you a WordPress site you can carry to another host, while Wix Light costs $17 a month on a yearly subscription, so $204 for the year, for a site that can only run on Wix's servers (10Web pricing, Wix plans, Wix on exporting, checked on 26 October 2026). Choose 10Web if your job is a marketing site that people who know WordPress may maintain, extend or move later. Choose Wix if your job is running bookings, a shop or events from one dashboard, with no plan to leave it.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Both start from a prompt now, so the build is not where they differ. 10Web turns a prompt, an old site's address or a Figma file into a WordPress install that you edit by chat or by hand (homepage). Wix's Harmony editor mixes prompting with drag and drop, and an assistant named Aria takes requests up to batch edits (Harmony page). The difference that lasts is underneath. One is open software on a managed host. The other is a closed platform with its business tools wired in.

Four checks before either checkout:

  1. Price two years, then the plan that sells. For example, two years of 10Web AI Starter billed annually are 2 x $120 = $240, and 10Web lists product and order management and 10Web Payments on every business plan (10Web pricing). Wix accepts payments from Core, $29 a month on a yearly subscription, so two years are 2 x 12 x $29 = $696 (Wix plans).
  2. Your traffic and your editors. 10Web meters visitors: 10K a month on AI Starter, 20K on AI Premium, 50K on AI Ultimate (10Web pricing). Wix's cards meter storage and collaborators: 2 on Light, 5 on Core, 10 on Business (Wix plans). Bring last quarter's busiest month and the names of everyone who edits.
  3. The domain you already own. Keep it at its registrar while you test. Wix needs a paid plan before any domain can point at a site (Wix on exporting).
  4. The pages that bring search traffic. Export your top 20 landing pages from Google Search Console before anything moves, and check the same URLs a month after launch. A rebuild that keeps the look and loses those pages has thrown away the part that worked.

Read on 26 October 2026: 10Web pricing, 10Web homepage, Wix plans, Wix's export article and Harmony page.

The two questions that settle it

Will the site ever need to leave?

Wix's help centre is direct: the content you build belongs to you, but the site runs on Wix's proprietary technology and cannot be hosted elsewhere; the domain is what moves (export article). A 10Web site is WordPress with SFTP and SSH on every plan, so a developer can lift it onto another host (10Web pricing). If the business may be sold, merged or handed to a WordPress agency, that row outweighs every feature below it.

Where do the business tools live?

Wix wires them in as you add them: a store, scheduling with staff, events with tickets, a pipeline that ends in invoices, and courses, in one dashboard (Wix homepage). 10Web builds bookings, forms, a store with subscriptions and portal-style app features on a WordPress backend, per its homepage. A salon that lives on its booking calendar is at home in Wix. A company whose site is pages and leads loses nothing on 10Web and keeps the exit.

What a year costs

PlanBilled yearlyMonthly billingWhat limits it
10Web AI Starter$120$20 a month1 website, 10K visitors, 100 AI credits a month
10Web AI Premium$180$30 a month2 websites, 20K visitors, 200 AI credits a month
Wix Light12 x $17 = $204Not listed on the plans page2 GB storage, 2 collaborators
Wix Core12 x $29 = $348Not listed on the plans page50 GB, payments, 5 collaborators
Wix Business12 x $39 = $468Not listed on the plans page100 GB, 10 collaborators

Checked on 26 October 2026 on the 10Web pricing page and the Wix plans page. Wix shows yearly prices paid in full at purchase, in USD for reference, and says prices and currency vary by location and exclude tax.

An agent makes the inventory before anything moves

Moving from Wix to 10Web starts with a list of what exists. Wix's MCP server lets Claude or another client list your sites and make API calls on one, CMS data included.

  1. Add the remote server to your AI client. Wix's documentation says every tool is on by default, ManageWixSite included, which can update or publish a site.
  2. Ask for your sites through ListWixSites, then for the blog posts and CMS items on the one you are leaving, each with its title and URL, as a table. Nothing is to be changed.
  3. The human check: approve each tool call as it appears and decline anything that writes or publishes. Then a person compares the table with the live site's menu and adds the static pages it missed.
  4. Feed the list to 10Web page by page. Its Clone Agent rebuilds a page from a URL at a site's first generation, with an accuracy 10Web itself puts at about 70% (Clone Agent note), so every rebuilt page gets a read-through too.

Build both for nothing first

Creating a Wix site is free; a Premium plan connects your domain and removes Wix branding (Wix plans FAQ). 10Web lets you build on a 10Web link for free and pay at launch (homepage). Give each the same brief, a homepage, a service page with a form and one article, and make three edits a week later: the second round shows an editor's habits.

Read the Wix domain offer before accepting it. Most Premium plans include a one-year voucher that, per the plans FAQ, only pays for a new domain bought from Wix and cannot renew or extend one you already own, so the gift is a new domain registered with Wix, paid for there from year two, in the same account as a site that cannot run anywhere else (Wix plans). Keep the domain where it is and point it at Wix, if Wix wins.

Choose 10Web if your job is

  • A marketing site that may one day move host, agency or owner.
  • Rebuilding an old site from its URL onto WordPress without a developer.
  • Paying the least for one site with a store, at $10 a month billed annually (10Web pricing).

Choose Wix if your job is

  • Running bookings, events, courses or a pipeline with invoices next to the website.
  • A team of up to 10 collaborators on Business, without anyone touching WordPress.
  • Hosting, security and updates handled for you, on a platform you do not expect to leave.

More on 10Web: its entry, how to use 10Web for a rebuild from a URL, and the comparisons with Hostinger and Lovable. Wix has no entry on this site.

FAQ

Can I export a Wix site to 10Web?

Not as files: Wix says the site must stay on its servers (export article). The route is a rebuild from each live URL, as in the agent steps above.

Which is cheaper for a small shop?

10Web, on list price: AI Starter is $120 a year billed annually with the ecommerce dashboard included, against $348 a year for Wix Core, the first Wix plan that accepts payments (10Web pricing, Wix plans).

Does Wix have a free plan?

Yes, at $0 with no card and with hosting included; your own domain and a site without Wix branding need a Premium plan (Wix plans).
