How to Keep a Reddit Ad's Voice on Its Landing Page

The short answer: the ad reads like a useful post. The click lands on a page shouting "Last chance, order today", and the page has broken the promise the ad's voice made. AdAlign is the tool to measure that gap. Its Reddit profile gives tone 25% of the score and the message and above-the-fold checks 40% (the AdAlign Brain), and its free audit accepts a Reddit ad today. Reddit's rules set the floor: the page keeps "the same level of quality expected from the ad" and offers what the ad advertised (Reddit Ads Help). The steps: copy the ad as the feed shows it, check Reddit's page rules, name the persuasion mode on each side, rewrite the first screen, keep other people's posts out without consent, score, and measure with the Reddit Pixel.
Disclosure: I earn a commission if you buy AdAlign through a link on this page, and this page recommends it. Every claim about AdAlign links to AdAlign's own pages.
Before you rewrite the page:
- What one tone gap does to the number. For example, take a pair on the Reddit weights that scores 8 on visual match, 7 on the message and above-the-fold checks and 3 on tone. It works out at 8 x 0.35 + 7 x 0.40 + 3 x 0.25 = 6.35, before AdAlign applies its penalties and caps and rounds to half points (analyze-ad reference). A weak tone score points at the hero copy. Not at a rebuild.
- What you have in hand. The ad's headline, body, CTA, thumbnail or video, and destination URL. For a video, note what is said as well as what is written, because Reddit requires the spoken language to match the ad copy.
- What will prove the rewrite worked. Conversions on the destination page from the Reddit Pixel, per ad, for the same stretch of days before and after.
The AdAlign glossary entry covers the product across platforms. This page stays on Reddit.
Reddit's page rules, without the legal phrasing
Reddit's editorial requirements ask the landing page to keep the quality expected of the ad, and list what it must do. The display URL matches the landing page URL. The product or service in the ad is available on the page. The page does not spam visitors, stop them leaving or exploring, or carry links and buttons that do not work. Its content follows the Reddit Rules and the advertising policy, and it is written in the same language as the ad. The same page bans clickbait, meaning ads that "purposely withhold information or use sensationalized tactics", and keeps capitals to no more than 50% of the ad copy.
Reddit's policy on deceptive advertising adds two items that land on the page rather than the ad: irresponsible use of the word "free", and withholding information on pricing, terms or expenses. An ad that mentions a free tier, followed by a page that hides the paid plan behind a sign-up, hits both.
Taking the thread's voice to the page
1. Copy the ad the way the feed shows it
Read the headline, body, CTA and thumbnail on a phone, in the feed. The question the ad raises is the one the page answers first. A tone gap does not need bad writing to happen. Two decent pieces of copy that nobody ever read one after the other can produce it.
2. Name the persuasion mode on each side
Write one word for the ad and one for the page: explaining, comparing, admitting a trade-off, pushing a deadline. AdAlign splits tone into two parts. One is the register of the brand. The other is the persuasion mode: hard sell or editorial, urgent or evergreen, discount-led or value-led. Both have to line up for a tone score of 6 or more, and tone is capped at 4.0 when the persuasion modes oppose (the AdAlign Brain). Its video analysis article describes the Reddit check as whether the page keeps "the conversational, non-corporate feel of the ad". An ad admitting a trade-off and a page pushing a deadline are two different people talking.
3. Rewrite the first screen and keep the brand
Change the words, not the design. Replace the hero headline with the answer to the ad's question, in the same plain register. Put the price and terms where the ad mentions them, since Reddit counts hidden pricing as deceptive. Drop any countdown the ad never mentioned. Logo, colours and layout stay.
4. Keep other people's posts out unless you have consent
Reddit's user content guidelines for advertisers require express written consent from the user before their Reddit content appears in an ad. They forbid implying that Reddit endorses you, bar using a subreddit name in a way that implies endorsement without moderator consent, and prohibit mimicking the look of a real user post. My recommendation: hold a thread screenshot on your landing page to the same rule. No written consent, no screenshot.
5. Score the pair for free
In the free audit, choose Reddit, paste the URL and upload the ad or a screenshot. If the page belongs to someone else, use Ad Roast. It takes the ad link or a screenshot link plus the page URL, and returns a shareable report that is easier to forward than a list of notes.
6. Put the Reddit Pixel on the destination
Reddit's pixel documentation says the base code records a PageVisit event by default. It should sit, at the minimum, on the campaign's destination URL, with conversion events such as AddToCart added to the page where they happen. It also warns against setting up the same conversion event twice, which breaks deduplication.
7. Rewrite once, then score again
Run the same pair after the edit. Since 17 September 2026, every copy finding in AdAlign emits a page-side fix first, quoting the page's existing text word for word (the AdAlign Brain). Before and after compare line by line.
An agent drafts the hero, a person reads it aloud
On Scale and above, the REST API scores a Reddit pair with the platform set to reddit. An agent can send each new ad, keep the fixes whose direction is change_lp, and draft the new hero from their suggested values (analyze-ad reference). The human check: before anything is published, a person reads the ad and the draft aloud, one after the other. If the draft sounds like a different speaker, it goes back.
What Reddit's pages flag
- Spoken words in a video ad that do not match the ad text (editorial requirements).
- Excessive emojis, symbols or punctuation, which the same page rules out.
- A subreddit name used in a way that suggests endorsement without moderator consent (user content guidelines).
The free audit is free, and it still has a job to do for AdAlign. It shows the overall score without an account and keeps the four-part breakdown and the fixes behind a free sign-up (audit page). That earns AdAlign an email address and a reason to show you the paid product. You get the breakdown in return. A fair trade, as long as you see it as one.
Free first, then the paid route
For two or three Reddit ads, steps 1 to 7 are the whole job, and they cost nothing. When new Reddit ads arrive every week, AdAlign scores them by upload on every plan. They do not sync the way Meta and Google Ads do (pricing). Paid plans begin with a €1,500 paid 30-day pilot that is credited to the first invoices if you continue. The Growth band starts from €590 a month on an annual contract, or €710 month to month, for up to €75k a month of total ad spend (checked on 27 October 2026).
Score the Reddit ad that spends the most in the free audit first. If the rewrite moves the number and you want every new ad checked the same way, AdAlign, which pays me a commission when you buy it, is the tool for it. The demo runs on your own accounts.
FAQ
Can I quote a Redditor's comment on my landing page?
Only with the author's express written consent, if you follow Reddit's rule for ads. That rule also asks you to strip personal details and not to alter the comment beyond an ellipsis (user content guidelines).
Does a casual Reddit ad need a casual landing page?
The voice has to carry. The design does not. AdAlign scores the persuasion mode, not the font (the AdAlign Brain), and Reddit asks for a page of the ad's quality that offers what the ad advertised (editorial requirements).
Can AdAlign pull my Reddit ads in automatically?
No. Meta and Google Ads sync read-only. Reddit ads are scored when you upload the creative and the page URL (pricing), or through the API on Scale and above (developers).
