The short answer: a creator talks straight to camera and wins the scroll. The click lands on a polished brand slogan, and the leak is on the page. AdAlign is the pick for finding it. Its TikTok scoring profile gives tone 35% of the score, the highest tone weight of any platform it profiles (the AdAlign Brain), and its free audit takes a TikTok ad with no account. The steps: transcribe the opening seconds, check TikTok's consistency rules, read hook and page aloud back to back, move the spoken offer above the fold, score, change one line, score again.

Disclosure: I earn a commission if you buy AdAlign through a link on this page, and this page recommends it. Every claim about AdAlign links to AdAlign's own pages.

What to settle before you change a word:

  1. How many creatives share the page. TikTok's creative guidance for performance ads suggests 3 to 5 creatives per ad group and 3 to 5 ad groups per campaign. For example, at the top of both ranges that is 5 x 5 = 25 videos sending people to one URL. A free AdAlign account covers 5 audits a month (audit page). Score the five with the most spend, and give the other twenty the read-aloud test below.
  2. What you already hold. The video, caption, display name, CTA and destination URL, all in TikTok Ads Manager. For a live ad only, TikTok's Commercial Content Library needs no TikTok account, per its FAQ.
  3. The reading that says it worked. The pair's score before and after the edit, and the ad's conversion rate in Ads Manager over the same number of days on either side. The score is the diagnosis. The conversion rate is the verdict.

The product itself is covered in the AdAlign glossary entry. Do everything below on a phone. TikTok's ad format and functionality policy requires mobile-friendly landing pages.

Carrying the hook to the page

1. Transcribe the opening, not the whole ad

TikTok's creative guidance tells advertisers to land the hook within the first 6 seconds and the proposition within the first 3, then close on a clear call to action. Write down four lines from those seconds: the first sentence spoken or shown, the offer or claim, the CTA, the display name. That is the ad, as far as the click is concerned. Nobody clicks because of second fourteen.

2. Check the four lines against TikTok's consistency rules

The ad format and functionality policy asks for the caption, text, images, video and CTA to be consistent with the product on the landing page. Its examples of what is not allowed: product A in the ad and product B on the page. "Up to 30% off" on an image beside "Up to 50% off" in the caption. A display name for a different product from the one the page sells. It also rules out landing pages that are expired, under construction or incomplete. Fix these first. They are rejection reasons, not style notes.

3. Read the hook and the first screen aloud, back to back

The free test, and for most pairs it is enough. Read the hook aloud, then the page's headline. The headline has to answer what the hook raised, and in the same voice. A creator confessing to wasting money on three products, followed by "advanced solutions for every routine", fails on both counts.

4. Keep the product, not the polish

A handheld creator video does not need a handheld page. The Brain has a rule for a UGC-style product video sent to a studio product page. When the same product is the hero in both, recognising it outweighs the staging, and lighting or set differences cost 1.5 points at most (the AdAlign Brain). What breaks the pair is a different product, a different pack, or an offer the page never mentions.

5. Move the spoken offer above the fold

Spoken claims are the ones pages drop most quietly, and nobody has to be careless for it to happen. The offer lives in the audio, and nobody on the web team watched the video. AdAlign's article on video ad analysis gives the case: a creator says "use code SAVE20 for 20% off", and the page shows full price with no code field. Put the code, the price and the claim in the first screen. Use the creator's words where you can, and put the ad's CTA verb on the button.

6. Score the pair in the free audit

In the free audit, choose TikTok, paste the URL and upload a screenshot of the frame that shows the product and the offer. With no account you see the overall score. A free account adds the four-part breakdown and the fixes. The platform setting picks the weights, and AdAlign's homepage says TikTok and Reels raise tone to 30 to 35%. Scoring the video itself, from key frames and an audio transcript, sits on paid plans (FAQ). So the free route is a screenshot, plus your own transcript of the hook.

7. Change one line, then score again

Edit the headline or the first screen, not the whole page, and run the same pair again. Below 5 is where AdAlign counts an ad's spend as at risk, and above 7 is strong alignment (how it works). Change two lines at once and you will not know which one moved the score.

An agent for the creatives nobody watches twice

On Scale and above, the REST API scores TikTok pairs directly. It captures the page in the mobile viewport by default for TikTok (analyze-ad reference), and it allows 1,500 evaluations a month on Scale (developers page).

{
  "adData": {
    "imageUrl": "https://cdn.example.com/tiktok/creator-cut-07.mp4",
    "platform": "tiktok",
    "adTextFields": { "bodyText": "the caption as it runs" }
  },
  "landingPageData": { "url": "https://shop.example.com/serum" }
}

An agent can send each new creative through that call every Monday and post the pairs under 5 to a channel, with the weakest dimension and the drafted fix. The human check: a person watches the video before any page copy changes. A joke in second two reads very differently in a transcript.

What TikTok's policy warns about

  • An e-commerce page without a price in local currency, shipping information, a return and refund policy, terms and a privacy policy. All of these are required for e-commerce ads by the same policy.
  • A QR code in the ad. The policy bars them, apart from codes on the product or its packaging. It also names the Netherlands among the markets where a code leading to a third-party site is not allowed.

TikTok recommends 3 to 5 creatives in each of 3 to 5 ad groups, and its reason holds up. The variety gives a campaign "more ad delivery and optimization options" (creative guidance). That is up to 25 versions for its system to choose between. The page stays one page, written once. Every version TikTok tests is one more promise that same page has to keep.

Free first, then AdAlign

The read-aloud test and the free audit cover a handful of creatives. Past that, the AdAlign route is upload. TikTok does not sync like Meta and Google Ads, and the pricing page lists it as "Upload" on every plan. Every plan starts with a €1,500 paid 30-day pilot that comes off the first invoices if you continue. Growth starts from €590 a month on an annual contract, for up to €75k a month of total ad spend (checked on 27 October 2026). One gap: AdAlign's pages describe daily drift checks for connected accounts and do not say whether an uploaded TikTok pair joins them. Ask on the demo.

Start with the free audit on the TikTok ad with the most spend this week. If the weekly creative count runs into double figures, AdAlign, which pays me a commission if you buy it, is the tool to take over the checking. It takes them by upload on any plan, or by API from Scale.

FAQ

Does a lo-fi TikTok ad need a lo-fi landing page?

No. Keep the same product as the hero and the page can stay clean. AdAlign caps the staging penalty at 1.5 points (the AdAlign Brain). Carry the creator's phrasing, not the creator's lighting.

Can AdAlign's free audit hear what the creator says?

Not on the free route, which scores a screenshot. Video scoring with an audio transcript is on paid plans, per the video analysis article.

Does TikTok connect to AdAlign the way Meta does?

No. Meta and Google Ads sync read-only. TikTok ads are scored by uploading the creative and the page URL on every plan (pricing), or through the API from Scale (developers).
