How to Use Atria to Find Which Hooks and Angles Win

The short answer: if your Meta account holds a few hundred creatives and nobody can say which hook or angle wins, this job belongs on Atria's Plus plan, where AI tagging starts at 1 credit per creative, so 300 creatives take 3% of its 10,000 monthly credits (AI tagging, pricing page). Connect one Meta ad account on the free plan and ask for a trial of Plus, switch Auto-Gen off, fill in the Brand World, label every creative through your naming convention or Raya's AI tags, build a custom report grouped by those labels, set Radar's benchmark and read the ads close to winning, let Raya or Claude draft the next brief, have a person check every claim in it against the report, then launch the next round to Meta.

Most creative reviews end with an opinion about one ad. This job ends with a table: which persona, hook or format wins in your own account, and a brief built from it. For what Atria is and what its plans cost, see the Atria glossary entry.
What you need first:
- A tagging budget. AI tagging costs 1 credit per asset and starts on the Plus plan (AI tagging). For example, 300 creatives in the date range cost 300 credits, which is 300 / 10,000 = 3% of Plus's monthly allowance on the pricing page.
- Meta access you already hold. Atria sees only the ad accounts your own Meta user can see in Business Manager, so ask the admin for access before you start (connecting accounts). Your existing ad naming is the other input; if it follows a pattern, it becomes free labels.
- A baseline to beat. Write down the account's cost per purchase or ROAS for the last 30 days before you change anything, so the next round has something to be compared with.
Step 1: Connect the account on the free plan
The free plan needs no card and covers one ad account and one brand. Atria suggests connecting the account there first and then emailing support for a trial of the paid plan you want, so the trial days go on paid features (free plan); for this job that is Plus. Go to Analytics & Launch in the left sidebar, click + next to Ad accounts, select the account and confirm. The first sync usually takes 15 to 20 minutes. If the account still looks empty after that, check that ads_management and business_management are in your Meta permissions rather than reconnecting, because repeated reconnecting makes problems harder to fix (connecting accounts).
Step 2: Switch Auto-Gen off and fill in the Brand World
Auto-Gen makes ads in the background, 4 at a time at 480 credits each, and running it before the brand details are complete is the most common reason customers run out of credits early (AI credits). Turn it off. Then enter your brand name and website, let Raya draft guidelines, products, personas and competitors, and correct what it got wrong; the article suggests aiming for a brand context score of 80 or more.
Step 3: Give every creative a label
There are three routes, and the first two spend no credits. If your ad names follow a structure, click Naming convention in the top bar, choose the separator, name each position (funnel stage, format, product, angle, version) and check the example values before you click Confirm. A wrongly mapped position still builds reports, with the numbers under the wrong labels (naming conventions). The pricing page lists this setting among the Plus additions. The second route works on any creative: click its thumbnail and type custom tags, such as the creator, product line or shoot batch (custom tags).
The third route lets Raya read the creatives. Scroll to Top Creative Tags, click Tag the rest and choose Always auto-tag new creatives. Raya labels ten categories, including persona, core desire, emotion, visual hook and offer type, which no naming scheme captures.
Step 4: Build a report grouped by the label
Open the Reports tab and click + under Custom reports; system reports have a fixed grouping. A new report starts with the last 14 days, grouped by ad name. Set Group by to the label you care about, for example Emotion or Angle, add the metrics you judge by, and click Save, because reports do not save themselves (custom reports). Group by Creative asset when you want one row per video used across several ads, and by Ad name when you compare delivery (group-by options).
Step 5: Set Radar's benchmark and read the middle tab
The first time you open Radar, set the timeframe (30 days is the suggested start), the conversion metric and your goal for it. Radar then grades each ad on hook, retention, click-through and conversion. Start with High iteration potential: ads where one area, often the hook, holds back an otherwise strong ad. Grading is included; the written recommendation behind the Scale button uses credits (Radar).
Step 6: Let an agent draft the brief, and check it by hand
Inside Atria, ask Raya at the bottom left of Analytics: "What combination of persona, hook and key message is driving the highest ROAS?" To work from Claude instead, open Settings, Connectors, add a custom connector named Atria with the address https://api.tryatria.com/mcp, sign in, and test it by asking Claude to list your Atria ad accounts. The Skill Hub's Creative breakdown and Creative brief skills turn the account data into a brief, and anything that would change or delete data asks you to confirm first (MCP article).
The agent drafts; a person signs. Before the brief goes to a designer, match each claim in it to a row in the saved report. A line like "testimonial angles win" needs the row and the spend behind it, and a winner with little spend is still a guess.
Step 7: Launch the next round to Meta
Open Analytics & Launch, then Launch, and click Create launch task. Check that the Permissions button shows 2/2, use Bulk add to pick the page, campaigns and ad sets, choose assets (one square, one vertical and one horizontal cover most placements), write the copy, preview, and click Launch all ads (launching ads).
What Atria's help centre warns about
- Rebuilding a failed launch. Retry from the same task instead; rebuilding it can create duplicate ads in Meta.
- Half-tagged accounts. If only part of the account is tagged, the charts reflect only that part.
- One account per report. Reports cannot combine ad accounts yet, and there is no period-over-period comparison; change the date range to compare months.
- Recommendations cost credits, grades do not. Grading and browsing are free while generation and recommendations spend credits, so the product leans toward making more ads. Generation is where the credits go, and more credits are the main thing the next plan up adds, so Auto-Gen running in the background spends you toward it. Generate when a report row shows a gap worth closing, not before.
Checking that the winning angle earned it
ROAS and cost per purchase in these reports are the numbers Meta attributes to each ad, and a tag that wins on them shows correlation inside one account. The free check is a holdout: give the new angle and the old one the same budget in the same ad set for two weeks, then compare orders in your shop system, not in Meta. Later, if you want that check run continuously across channels, a causal attribution tool such as Causality Engine does it (disclosure: I founded it). The background is in marketing attribution in the enterprise.
FAQ
Which plan do I need for AI tagging?
Plus or above, at 1 credit per asset (AI tagging). Below Plus, label creatives yourself with custom tags, which do not depend on AI tagging (custom tags).
Why do the numbers differ from Ads Manager?
Check the grouping first. Grouped by Creative asset, one video used in four ads appears as one row with the results combined (group-by options).
Can Atria launch TikTok ads?
No. TikTok accounts can be connected for analysis, but launching works only for Meta (connecting accounts).
