How to Use Fliki to Turn Blog Posts Into Narrated Videos

The short answer: set up a brand kit, start a URL video from the published post with Summarize on, check where the scenes break, choose a voice and map the names it mispronounces, replay for free until it sounds right, export at 1080p, then let a Zapier automation start the next posts while a person approves each finished render before it goes anywhere.

Most blogs hold more finished thinking than the video calendar ever uses. Fliki's URL workflow reads a post, summarises it into scenes, and narrates it over stock or AI visuals (Fliki guide). The setup is free and the meter only starts when you submit, so the checking can happen before any credit is spent (credit guide). For what Fliki includes and costs, see the Fliki glossary entry.
Before the first post:
- Work out what one video costs. A blog video costs 0.5 credits to start, a voice in the green band 0.5 credits a minute, and stock footage nothing (credit guide). For example, a 3-minute video is 0.5 + 3 x 0.5 = 2 credits, so Standard's 180 credits a month would cover 90 of them on paper. Fliki's own pricing FAQ is more cautious, at 60 to 90 minutes of finished video a month, because scripts get edited and regenerated (pricing page, checked on 24 October 2026).
- Pick posts that already earn their traffic. A post people read is a script that has been tested. Start with the three you would send a new customer.
- Decide how you will tell the videos apart later. Fliki's own automation tutorial suggests tagging automated uploads with a prefix in YouTube Studio so their numbers can be compared with videos you made by hand (automation tutorial).
Step 1: Set the brand once
Open brand kits in your Fliki account and define colours, fonts and a watermark, then fill in About: the brand's tone and voice and the audience it writes for. You can keep a profile per brand. When you start a video and select the brand, its settings apply to the new video automatically, per the branding section of the Fliki guide. Brand kits start on Standard, with three on Premium.
Step 2: Start the video from the URL
In the editor window, select URL under the video section, paste the post's address, and tick Summarize to condense it. Set the length with the duration slider, choose between stock media, AI media, an AI avatar, sound effects, headings and stickers, and click Submit (Fliki guide).
Stock keeps the cost flat. AI video clips run 0.1 to 6 credits a second depending on the model (credit guide), so save them for the one shot stock cannot supply.
Step 3: Read the scenes as a script
Summarize rephrases. If a sentence in the post is a promise your sales team makes word for word, put it back as written. In the script workflow Fliki breaks scenes at new lines, so a single long paragraph becomes one long scene (Fliki guide). Short scenes also cost less to fix: the guide notes that a change to a scene reconverts that whole paragraph, and every word is counted again.
Step 4: Choose the voice, then fix the names
Select a scene, click the voice name on the voiceover layer and pick from the library; the colour beside each voice is its credit rate, and the picker always shows the rate you will pay (credit guide). Background music goes on the Common scene.
Then open the more menu and choose Pronunciation map. Type the word as written in Original, the way it should sound in Replace with, and play both until the product name, the founder's surname and every acronym come out right. You can test with any voice before clicking Done.
Step 5: Replay, translate, export
Replaying a video you have not edited is free, and editing one scene's voiceover text charges only for that scene (credit guide). Play it through twice, once watching and once only listening.
For another market, open the more menu, choose Translate, and pick the language and dialect; translation is a paid feature. When it is ready, click Download, then Start export, and choose 1080p, 720p or 360p and MP4 or MOV (Fliki guide). Free exports stop at 720p with a watermark.
Step 6: Hand the next posts to Zapier
Fliki publishes a two-Zap recipe that turns a spreadsheet row into a video (automation tutorial). One row per post holds the workflow type (url), the format (video), a template ID, a prompt, the post URL, the duration, the visual type, a voice ID, the aspect ratio and the export settings.
- Zap 1. Trigger: Google Sheets, New Spreadsheet Row. Action: Fliki, Create New Video. In Fliki's Automation section, click Create Key, choose Zapier, generate and paste the key into Zapier, then map each sheet column to the matching field. The test returns a file ID with the status processing.
- Zap 2. Rendering is asynchronous, so a second Zap starts on Fliki's Video Render Complete trigger and filters on the folder the first Zap writes to.
The tutorial ends Zap 2 with an upload straight to YouTube. Change that last step for a brand channel. Send the finished file's link to the person who approves posts, the same way the tutorial routes failed tasks to Slack for manual review, and publish by hand until a run of renders has passed without corrections. The automation reads the post and drafts the video; a person decides whether it goes out under your name. The tutorial also notes the Zapier integration was still marked Beta as of May 2025, and Make and Zapier access starts on Standard (pricing page).
A recipe that ends in an automatic upload makes for a better tutorial. It does not make a better channel, and the reviewer costs you one click per video.
Mistakes Fliki's own pages warn about
- One paragraph, one scene. Fliki splits scenes at line breaks; a wall of text becomes a single scene (Fliki guide).
- Summarize when you needed your words. It rewrites the script with rephrased statements; switch it off to keep the original.
- Expecting credits to wait. The monthly quota resets and cannot be carried over.
- Long prompts in the sheet. The tutorial warns that long text prompts can exceed character limits; trim or split them (automation tutorial).
FAQ
Can Fliki use my own voice?
Yes, on paid plans. Standard includes one voice clone and Premium three, according to the comparison table on the pricing page.
How long can each video be?
Up to 15 minutes on Standard and 40 on Premium, per the plan cards on the pricing page; Free stops at 5. A summarised blog post rarely needs more than a few minutes.
Can I do this without Zapier?
Yes, with the API on Premium. A request with the workflow type url turns an article link into a video, and API usage draws on the same credits as the app (developer page).
