How to Use GemPages to Build an Advertorial per Ad Angle

The short answer: one advertorial for one ad fits on GemPages' free plan, which publishes a single page; the second angle is where Build starts, at $29 a month for unlimited published pages, per the pricing page checked on 26 October 2026. The steps: create a page with the Advertorial use case, write one angle into it, link its button to your one product page, publish it, duplicate it for the next angle, put a distinct UTM tag on each button, and compare the angles in Shopify's reports.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

The job: every ad angle you run, the problem story, the comparison, the founder's reason, gets its own pre-sell page, and all of them send buyers to the same product page so stock and reviews stay in one place. That is the setup GemPages' multiple advertorials guide recommends, and this page follows it. What the builder is and what each plan costs is in the GemPages glossary entry.

Set these before the editor opens:

  1. What the angles cost to keep live. For example, three angles running through a six-week campaign need two months of Build, 2 x $29 = $58, using the pricing page. One angle on its own costs nothing.
  2. The angles you already run. Take them from the ads that are live today: each ad's headline and hook is one advertorial. A page that repeats the promise that earned the click needs no new idea, only more room to make the case.
  3. The tag for each page. Decide a utm_campaign value per advertorial now. The guide names UTM parameters on the button links, with Shopify Analytics or Google Analytics reading them, as the way to see which page sends buyers.

What you need

  • GemPages installed on your Shopify store, using editor version 7, which the guide asks for.
  • The product page that will receive every click, already live.
  • Copy and images for each angle, with one clear claim per page.

Step 1: Create the page

In Shopify admin, open Apps, then GemPages, and click Create new page. Select Advertorial page as the use case, as the advertorial article describes, then pick a pre-built template and click Select, or choose Start from Scratch for a blank canvas. A template is the quicker start because its structure already moves from story to product.

Step 2: Write one angle into the sections

The multiple advertorials guide lists the parts: a hero with the headline and an image, a gallery or comparison block, text blocks for the argument, and trust signals such as guarantees and reviews. Keep each page to the single angle its ad promised. The guide's own SEO answer also asks for distinct copy on every page rather than the same text with a new headline.

Step 3: Link the button to the product page

Drag a Button element onto the page and style it in the Settings tab. Scroll to the Link section and toggle it on, set After click to Open page, and choose your product page. Under Show more, the guide sets Open new tab to Yes and Following link to No, the second so search bots do not follow it. Add your utm_campaign value to the link here.

Step 4: Save, publish and check the address

Click Save, then publish. A landing page goes live at its own URL with no Set as Default step, unlike home, product and collection pages, per the page types article. Open the live URL on a phone before any ad points at it.

Step 5: Duplicate for the next angle

The guide's quickest route to angle two is duplicating the first page and changing the content. Every duplicate you publish takes a live page, which is the point where the free plan stops and Build begins. Keep each URL short and named after its campaign, as the guide advises.

Step 6: Point each ad at its page

Set each ad's destination to its own advertorial. Since all the buttons lead to one product page, the utm_campaign on each button is what tells the product page's sessions and orders apart in Shopify's reports.

A step for an agent: GemPages MCP

If a copywriter, an agency or a coding agent delivers the advertorial as an HTML file, GemPages MCP can turn it into an editable page. Add a custom connector in Claude with the URL https://mcp.gemcommerce.com/ and link your store through GemPages Preferences, per the connection guide, then ask: "Use GemCommerce MCP. Turn advertorial-angle-two.html into an editable GemPages page on my store." The AI builds and checks the page section by section and returns a preview link and an editor link; it does not publish, per the HTML to page article.

That stop is the human check. A person compares the result with the source from the hero to the final button, confirms the copy and the button link, and only then publishes. The MCP page warns that product listings in the HTML may not convert and need reconnecting in the editor, and advises one page per conversation. The MCP is in beta, with access rolling out from a waitlist.

What the help centre warns about

  • A different domain for a regular page. Only a Headless Page, on Optimize or above, can sit on another domain; ordinary advertorials use the store's domain, per the advertorial article.
  • Dynamic store elements in imported HTML. Collections and product grids may need to be reconnected by hand after an MCP conversion.
  • Uninstalling with pages live. The uninstall article says live pages can display wrongly once the app's files are removed, and suggests downgrading to free instead.
  • Duplicate copy across angles. Write a distinct page for each angle; the guide asks for it.

Deciding which angle wins

For picking a winner, the guide's first suggestion is GemX, another app from the same company, so the vendor that sells the pages also sells the scoreboard. Its second suggestion costs nothing and is enough on its own: the UTM tags from step 3, read in Shopify's reports.

Give each angle the same budget for two weeks, then compare orders on the product page by utm_campaign. The angle with the most orders per pound or euro spent keeps its budget, and the others get rewritten or switched off. The comparison is only as fair as the budgets, so keep them level until it is done.

FAQ

Do I need a separate product page for each advertorial?

No. The multiple advertorials guide recommends one Shopify product page for every advertorial, so stock, reviews and fulfilment stay in one place.

Will several advertorials hurt my SEO?

Not if, as the guide sets out, outbound product links are nofollow, each page has distinct copy, and the pages exist for paid traffic rather than organic search.

Can each advertorial show a different price?

Each page can show its own offer, such as a limited-time deal, but the product page still shows the real price. The guide points to Shopify variants, discount codes or bundle apps for anything more.
