The short answer: if your account managers call customers from a shared office or a train, in Dutch, Italian, Polish or another language beyond English, Krisp fits: it removes noise and nearby voices on the device, transcribes 16 languages, and costs $8 a user a month on Core billed annually or $16 monthly (Krisp pricing, recording article). If your meetings are in English and the job is notes and a replay, including meetings you cannot attend, Otter.ai fits, starting free with 300 minutes a month, then Pro at $8.33 a user billed annually or $16.99 monthly (Otter pricing). Both checked on 26 October 2026.

Pull these from last month's calendar:
- The headcount, against Otter's plan caps. For example, seven account managers on annual billing: Krisp Core is 7 x $8 = $56 a month. Otter's Pro plan stops at 5 billed users, so seven people need Business at 7 x $19.99 = $139.93 (Otter pricing, Krisp pricing).
- The languages your meetings run in. Otter transcribes English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Chinese, and its help page answers no to anything else (Otter languages). Krisp lists 16, Dutch, Portuguese, Danish, Swedish and Norwegian among them (recording article).
- Two counts after a trial week. The calls where someone asked a colleague to repeat themselves, and the notes that reached the CRM without editing. The first count is Krisp's job alone; the second is the job both tools claim.
Tool by tool
| Tool | What it is first | How it hears the call | Languages | Free option | First paid plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Krisp | Noise, voice and echo removal on both sides of the call, with a note taker (noise article) | Desktop app as microphone and speaker; a bot only if you want video (recording article) | 16 | 7-day trial, no credit card (pricing) | Core: unlimited notes, HubSpot, 10 GB storage (pricing) |
| Otter.ai | A notetaker and searchable transcript (homepage) | Notetaker joins Zoom, Teams and Meet from the calendar; desktop app without a bot (Notetaker overview) | 6 | Basic: 300 minutes a month, 30 per conversation (pricing) | Pro: 1,200 minutes, 90 per meeting, CRM notes for 1 user (pricing) |
Three differences that matter
Only one of them fixes the sound
Krisp's noise cancellation strips traffic, keyboards and the colleague at the next desk from your microphone, cleans up the other side's background and cancels echo, all on your device with no audio sent to a server (noise article). Otter's plan pages list transcription, summaries and playback, and no noise removal (Otter pricing). A notetaker transcribes the noise along with the words. If the customer on the other end struggles to hear your rep, only Krisp addresses it.
Who has to be in the meeting
Otter's Notetaker can be sent to calendar meetings on Zoom, Google Meet or Teams, including ones you skip, and you read the notes afterwards (Notetaker overview). Krisp starts from the person on the call: it records and transcribes from the app on your machine, and Krisp advises selecting both its microphone and its speaker in the calling app so the whole meeting is captured (recording article). For a manager who wants a record of the meetings they could not attend, that is Otter's ground.
Languages past the first six
For a Benelux or Nordic team, this can end the comparison. A recurring call in Dutch or Swedish is outside Otter's list and inside Krisp's. Krisp's own tip for multilingual meetings is to record in Audio Recording mode, so a transcript with errors can be regenerated from the audio (recording article).
Prices on both sides
Checked on 26 October 2026, US dollars per user a month. Krisp, from its pricing page: a 7-day free trial without a card; Core $8 billed annually or $16 monthly; Advanced $15 or $30, adding Salesforce, team-level webhooks and 60 GB of storage; Enterprise quoted. Otter.ai, from its pricing page: Basic free; Pro $8.33 billed annually or $16.99 monthly, for up to 5 billed users; Business $19.99 billed annually, or $30 monthly with $24 for a first-time subscriber's first three months, up to 25 billed users; Enterprise on request.
An AI step: from a customer call to a draft post
Otter documents content generation inside its AI Chat, with prompts such as "Write a half-page blog post on this conversation, with the content being split into 3 sections" (content article). Run it on a recorded customer interview, then ask it to add timestamps to every quote it used. Each AI Chat question counts against a monthly allowance: 20 per user on Basic, 3 of them per conversation, 50 on Pro and 200 on Business (Otter pricing). Before the draft goes anywhere, a person plays back each quoted passage, removes anything the customer would not want public, and asks the customer for a yes on the exact words if they are named.
Krisp's route to the same material runs through its MCP server: an assistant such as Claude can search inside transcripts for the passages that mention a topic and read the summaries, on Core and Advanced (Krisp MCP). The same human check applies. The consent questions that come with turning calls into content are set out in the customer calls use case.
The CRM row in Otter's table
Otter's Pro card lists "Salesforce*, HubSpot*, Zapier integrations", and the asterisk leads to "subject to user limits". The comparison table gives the limit: synced notes to Salesforce or HubSpot for 1 user on Pro, 5 on Business and unlimited on Enterprise (Otter pricing). A sales team of eight on Business has three reps whose call notes stop at Otter, and the plan that removes the limit is the one sold through a demo. Krisp lists HubSpot on Core and keeps Salesforce for Advanced (Krisp pricing). Run Otter Basic and Krisp's trial on the same week of calls first; neither costs anything.
Who should pick which
Choose Krisp if your job is customer calls from noisy places, in any of 16 languages, with notes and HubSpot updates from the same app on every rep's laptop.
Choose Otter.ai if your job is English-language meetings recorded and searchable, with replay, a notetaker that can attend without you, and a free plan to start.
Background on Krisp is in its glossary entry; Otter against a larger notetaker is in Fireflies.ai vs Otter.ai.
