The short answer: to score website visitors and send the good ones to HubSpot, Landbot's Professional plan at $110 a month on monthly billing is the floor, because both the Lead Scoring block and the HubSpot integration start there, with 2,500 chats a month included (pricing page, lead scoring article, checked on 26 October 2026). The steps: build the flow by hand or by briefing Claude through Landbot's MCP server, capture the campaign in hidden fields, ask four questions, score the answers, create the HubSpot contact, hand hot leads to a person, then test and embed it as a chat bubble.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

The job: a contact form collects a name and an email and leaves sales to work out the rest. A Landbot flow asks the questions sales would ask, scores the answers and creates the record with the score attached, so the first call starts at question five. What the product is and costs is in the Landbot glossary entry.

Three checks before the first block:

  1. The month's bill. For example, 3,000 visitors a month who start the bot is 500 chats over Professional's 2,500, one 500-chat pack at $25, so $110 + $25 = $135, using the pricing page. If the AI Agent block answers open questions, each AI chat past the 300 included costs $0.10.
  2. The HubSpot fields sales already reads. Pick the four properties a rep checks before calling, such as company size, budget, timeline and use case, and ask only for those.
  3. A baseline. Write down last month's form submissions and how many sales accepted. Those two numbers are what the bot has to beat.

What you need

  • A Landbot account. The 14-day trial includes every feature; after it the account moves to the Free plan.
  • A HubSpot login with rights to connect apps, since the HubSpot block asks you to log in to sync.
  • Access to your site's code or tag manager, and one person in sales who will answer live chats.

Step 1: Build the flow, by hand or by brief

You can drag blocks in the builder, or describe the flow to an AI tool. Landbot's MCP server at https://mcp.landbot.io/mcp connects Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor through an OAuth sign-in; in Claude Code the command is claude mcp add --transport http landbot https://mcp.landbot.io/mcp. Describe the goal, the questions in order, the paths, the ending and where answers go. The build and publish article says the tool returns a plain summary and asks for approval before each publish, and a yes covers only that publish.

The human check is the summary. Read its "Decisions you didn't make" section first, open the test link on your phone, and approve only then. Keep the builder closed while the agent edits, or the builder can overwrite its changes.

Step 2: Capture the campaign in hidden fields

Under Settings, Hidden fields, add utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign; the values in the page URL then arrive as variables, per the hidden fields article. Names must be lowercase, values are stored as text, and the words location, welcome and message cause errors.

Step 3: Ask four questions

Use buttons for answers you will score, so company size arrives as a number band rather than free text. For open questions ("What are you trying to fix?"), the AI Agent block can hold the conversation and save the answer to a field. Two rules from its guide: an agent collects a field only if the instructions tell it to, and Build it with AI overwrites the whole setup.

Step 4: Score the answers

Add the Lead Scoring block and build a rule group per question, positive points for a fit and negative for a mismatch. Save the score as a number. Rules on the same field fire together, so overlapping conditions can cancel each other out, and the article recommends a Failed path so a calculation error does not end the chat. A Conditions block after it routes high scores to step 6 and the rest to an email follow-up.

Step 5: Create the HubSpot contact

In the HubSpot block choose Create a contact and map the fields. The HubSpot article warns that fields with underscores, such as utm_source, do not import, so copy each UTM into a field without one using a Set a Field block first. Testing the block creates a real record, so use a test email you can delete.

Step 6: Hand hot leads to a person

The Human Takeover block assigns the chat to an online agent and stops the flow; when nobody is online, the flow continues through the red output, which is where a booking link belongs. Agents are not alerted by their status, so place an Email or Slack Notification block just before the takeover.

Step 7: Test and embed

Run every path with fake details, then publish. Under Share, Embed into your website, choose WebChat for a bubble on every page, pick your platform and copy the code, per the embed guide. Choose the format before copying, since each format gives a different snippet.

Where Landbot's guides say it goes wrong

  • Hidden fields inside an iframe. They do not work when the bot is embedded through an iframe, which is what the Embed format is, so a bot that must read UTMs goes in as WebChat, through the regular snippet.
  • Unpublished changes. Visitors see the last published version, per the launch article.
  • A takeover nobody hears. Without a notification block, a visitor can wait in a chat no one has opened.
  • Two editors at once. The builder and the MCP should not edit the same agent at the same time.

The free run, and the first invoice

Everything above can be built and tested inside the 14 days without paying. That is enough to answer the only question that matters before buying: do visitors finish the four questions? Compare finished chats with last month's form submissions. The trial includes the HubSpot block and lead scoring, and the Free plan the account falls back to on day 15 includes neither, so the flow you spent two weeks building is what makes $110 a month feel necessary.

After 30 live days, count how many bot leads sales accepted against the baseline. If they are better leads but still stall between the bot, HubSpot and the first call, the problem is the hand-off rather than the tool, and a one-week stack review like the Startup Fixer covers it.

FAQ

Can the same flow run on WhatsApp?

Yes, the HubSpot block works on web, WhatsApp and Messenger. Your own number needs Professional WA at $220 a month on monthly billing, and Meta bills each template message on top, with Landbot adding €0.05 to every marketing, utility or authentication message, per the pricing page (checked on 26 October 2026).

Do I need the AI Agent block?

No. Buttons, scoring and conditions qualify a lead without AI. The AI Agent block helps with open questions, and it is not available on the Free plan.

Can the bot book the meeting too?

On the web, yes. Landbot's HubSpot Calendar guide pastes the embed script of a HubSpot meetings page into a message block, and it works only in web bots that are not embedded, so use it on a shared link or full-page bot, at the red output of the takeover block.
