Moosend vs Constant Contact: Same Owner, Two Ways to Bill

The short answer: if your marketing is email, landing pages and forms, and you want a published price with no cap on sends, Moosend is the simpler bill: Pro is $48 a month at 5,000 contacts paid monthly, or $38 paid annually, with unlimited campaigns (Moosend pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). If you also need ticketed events, SMS in the US or Australia and social posting from the same login, Constant Contact covers those, with a monthly send allowance and an overage fee instead of unlimited sends (send allowance article). One fact frames both: Moosend's site now reads "Moosend is now a Constant Contact company" (Moosend homepage).
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
Constant Contact's pricing page answered automated reading with a bot check on 26 October 2026, so this page gives its billing rules from the knowledge base and no plan prices.
Settle these three first:
- Count a busy month's sends. For example, 5,000 contacts mailed 12 times is 5,000 x 12 = 60,000 sends. Moosend Pro has no send cap at that size (Moosend pricing). On a Constant Contact plan with a 10x allowance, the allowance is 50,000, and the 10,000 extra sends cost 10,000 x $0.002 = $20 (send allowance article).
- Look at how often you really send. If campaigns go out a few times a year, Moosend sells credits instead of a plan: one credit is one email to one recipient, and credits never expire (Moosend pricing FAQ). Constant Contact charges the monthly fee even in a month with no campaign (billing article).
- Choose the number that will judge the change. Revenue or clicks per send, taken from the last three months in your current tool, so the new account starts against a baseline.
The two products, item by item
| Item | Moosend | Constant Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Owner | A Constant Contact company (homepage) | Constant Contact |
| Published prices | Yes, by contact count (pricing) | Pricing page blocked to automated reading on 26 October 2026 |
| Sends | Unlimited campaigns on Pro | 5, 10, 12 or 24 times your contact tier a month, then $0.002 a send (allowance) |
| How contacts are counted | Unique email addresses, once across lists; downgrade at the end of the billing cycle | Highest number of active contacts held; deleting does not lower the tier (billing) |
| Pay as you go | Credits that never expire | Not offered in the articles read |
| Team members | 5 on Pro, 10 or more on Enterprise | 1 on Lite, 3 on Standard, unlimited on Premium (plans) |
| Beyond email | Landing pages, forms and an SMTP server | Events and ticketing, SMS, social posts and ads |
| Website behaviour | "Browses any page" and "views any product" triggers | Website tracking on Premium only |
| Free start | 30-day trial, unlimited sends to up to 1,000 contacts, no card | Trial terms sit on the blocked pricing page |
What separates them
Two products, one owner
Moosend's homepage carries a block headed "Go beyond the inbox with Constant Contact", offering SMS in the US and Australia, social media and event tools, and its footer states the ownership (Moosend homepage). So this is not a choice between rivals. It is a choice between two price models sold by one company: a flat price per contact with unlimited sends, or a plan with a send allowance and channels beyond email.
An unlimited send against a counted one
Moosend lists unlimited email campaigns and sends on Pro (pricing). Constant Contact sets a monthly allowance at a multiple of the top of your contact tier and bills $0.002 for each send above it; automated emails such as welcomes and abandoned carts do not count, while scheduled campaigns and resends to non-openers do (send allowance article). A weekly sender rarely feels the difference. A daily one does.
Channels around the email
Constant Contact's plans include an RSVP block for events on every new plan, scheduled social posts and Facebook and Instagram ads from Standard, and TikTok ads on all three (plans article). Moosend stays close to the inbox and the website: its automations can start when someone browses a page or views a product, and its plans list product view, cart and purchase tracking (Moosend pricing).
Moosend's prices, checked on 26 October 2026
| Contacts | Pro, paid monthly | Pro, paid annually |
|---|---|---|
| 500 | $9 | $7 |
| 1,000 | $16 | $13 |
| 2,000 | $24 | $19 |
| 5,000 | $48 | $38 |
| 10,000 | $88 | $70 |
| 25,000 | $160 | $128 |
Per month, from the Moosend pricing page, which also lists 15% off for paying every six months and a 25% nonprofit discount on top of the annual 20%. Constant Contact's figures were behind the bot check on its pricing page; its billing article confirms the bill is plan plus contact tier.
The AI writer drafts the signup form
Moosend's AI writer works inside landing pages and subscription forms as well as campaigns: add a text item, open AI writer, choose a content type such as Announcement or Newsletter, a tone and a word limit of up to 500, and generate (AI writer guide). The guide marks the feature as a beta for a limited time. Use it for the headline and two lines under the signup form, then have a person check every promise in the copy against what the welcome email delivers before the form is published. Constant Contact's equivalent is the Campaign Builder on Standard and Premium, which drafts a whole multi-channel campaign from a goal for you to edit (Campaign Builder guide).
Try it before paying
Moosend's 30-day trial covers the builder, templates, AI writer, automations and segmentation with unlimited sends for up to 1,000 contacts and no card (Moosend pricing FAQ). Import a real segment, rebuild your welcome flow and send one month of campaigns. If you finish the month without needing SMS or events, the second product has answered its own question.
Moosend's homepage sends its visitors to Constant Contact for SMS, social and events because the same company now earns from both, so neither site is a neutral guide to which one you need; your send count and channel list are.
Choose Moosend if your job is
- Sending often, even daily, without counting sends against an allowance.
- Paying a published price per contact, or buying credits for occasional campaigns.
- Triggering emails from page views, product views and carts on your site.
Choose Constant Contact if your job is
- Running ticketed events, SMS and social posts from the account that sends your email.
- Giving three or more people their own logins on Standard or Premium.
- Building multi-channel campaigns from a goal with the Campaign Builder.
FAQ
Is Moosend still sold as its own product?
Yes. It keeps its own plans, pricing and trial on moosend.com, and the footer states that Moosend is now a Constant Contact company.
Can I downgrade Moosend if my list shrinks?
Yes, at any time; the change takes effect at the end of the current monthly, six-month or annual cycle (Moosend pricing FAQ). Constant Contact's tier does not drop when you delete contacts (billing article).
Does a bounced email use up Constant Contact's allowance?
Yes. One email to one contact is one send, even if it bounces (send allowance article).
