The short answer: if you mail a large list only a few times a year, Moosend is the cheaper tool by a wide margin, because it sells email credits that never expire: 350,000 sends for $350 (Moosend pricing). If you mail every week and want unlimited sending, Moosend's Pro plan is still cheaper, at $88 a month for 10,000 contacts against $129 for MailerLite's unlimited Power plan (MailerLite pricing). MailerLite wins when the email sits inside a website, a shop for digital products or a paid newsletter.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Both are full email platforms with automation, forms and landing pages. They part on two things: how you can pay, and what surrounds the email. Moosend gives you a choice between a monthly plan and prepaid credits. MailerLite gives you a website builder and selling tools in the same account.

Three numbers to find before you sign:

  1. Your sends per year. For example, a quarterly newsletter to 20,000 contacts is 4 x 20,000 = 80,000 sends a year, so Moosend's 350,000-credit pack at $350 covers 350,000 / 80,000 = 4.375 years of it, and the credits do not expire (Moosend pricing). A subscription for 20,000 subscribers on MailerLite Comfort is $159 a month (MailerLite pricing).
  2. Your unique contacts, after deduplication. Export every list from your current tool and remove duplicates. Moosend says it counts unique email addresses and bills a person on several lists once; MailerLite counts every address active at any point in the billing cycle, deleted or not, until the monthly reset (both pricing FAQs).
  3. The revenue line your automations should move. If you run a store, note this month's revenue from automated emails, or your cart recovery rate, before you rebuild anything. That is the figure the new tool's triggers have to beat.

What decides it

How often you send

Credits change the arithmetic for anyone who mails rarely. Each credit is one email to one recipient, you get a warning at 80% used, and the packs run from 350,000 to 1,000,000 credits at $1 per 1,000 (Moosend pricing). MailerLite has no equivalent on its pricing page; a seasonal sender pays the monthly plan or stays on the free one. For someone who sends weekly, credits stop making sense and the subscriptions take over.

Unlimited sending, priced

At every list size checked, Moosend Pro's unlimited sending costs less than MailerLite Power's: $16 against $39 at 1,000 contacts, $48 against $69 at 5,000 (Moosend, MailerLite). MailerLite's cheaper Comfort plan narrows the gap but caps sends at ten times the band. A store that mails daily to 10,000 people will hit Comfort's 100,000 ceiling within the month.

What surrounds the email

MailerLite's paid plans include websites with a blog section, landing pages, digital products and bookings, paid newsletters and recurring subscriptions (pricing). Moosend's pricing page lists landing pages, forms and an SMTP server, with transactional email as an add-on to its custom Moosend+ plan, and no shop. If a separate store platform already sells your products, that is no loss: Moosend tracks product views, carts and purchases on every plan, and Moosend+ adds triggers for page browsing and product views (plan comparison).

Monthly billing in USD, from the Moosend pricing page and the MailerLite pricing page. Moosend lists 15% off for six-month billing and 20% off for annual, which takes Pro for 10,000 contacts to $70 a month; MailerLite lists 10% off yearly.

An agent reads the automation, a person fixes it

MailerLite's MCP server lists a task that suits a store with a welcome or post-purchase flow: find where subscribers drop off in an automation (MailerLite MCP). Ask the assistant which step loses the most people and why, then have a person rewrite that one email and change the delay in the editor. The assistant can draft the replacement too; the MCP page says nothing sends without your confirmation. Moosend's documented AI is narrower: an AI writer, marked beta, that drafts a subject line or a block of text, which you insert only after reading it (AI writer guide).

Try both for nothing

Moosend's 30-day trial needs no card and sends without limit to up to 1,000 contacts; when it ends you can subscribe or buy credits, and the account and data stay (pricing FAQ). MailerLite's free plan has no end date for 250 subscribers. A month is long enough to send four issues from each and compare the revenue line you wrote down.

Moosend's pricing page opens on annual billing with the line "save 20% automatically". A discount for paying twelve months up front helps the vendor's cash flow as much as your budget, so take it once the trial has shown you will stay, not before.

Choose Moosend if your job is

  • Mailing a big list a few times a year without a monthly fee.
  • Sending without limits to a mid-sized list at the lowest subscription price.
  • Tracking product views, carts and purchases from a store that lives elsewhere.

Choose MailerLite if your job is

  • Selling digital products, bookings or paid newsletter subscriptions.
  • Working with an assistant that analyses and drafts through MCP.

FAQ

Do Moosend's email credits expire?

No. The pricing FAQ says purchased credits never expire, and you receive a notification when 80% are used (Moosend pricing).

Who owns Moosend?

Its pricing page states that Moosend is now a Constant Contact company (Moosend pricing). It is still sold as its own product with its own plans.

Will a contact on two lists cost me twice?

Not on Moosend, which bills each unique address once (Moosend pricing). On MailerLite, billing follows active subscribers in the account, counted across the billing cycle (MailerLite pricing).
