The short answer: if you suspect Streamlabs was built for streamers rather than for a company webinar, its own Ultra page agrees: what it sells is reactive overlays, a custom tip page, merch margins and a Sidekick co-host that reacts to events in Fortnite, Valorant, PUBG and Counter-Strike 2 (Streamlabs Ultra, Sidekick). For a marketing team sending one show to LinkedIn, YouTube and X, Restream is the closer fit: Business is $239 a month on monthly billing for 8 channels and 2 team seats, or $199 a month billed as $2,390 a year (Restream pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Choose Restream if your job is a company broadcast on the business networks. Choose Streamlabs if your job is a creator channel on Twitch, YouTube or TikTok that earns from its viewers, where Ultra costs $27 a month or $189 a year (Ultra trial FAQ).

Three checks first:
- A year at each level. For example, Streamlabs Ultra billed yearly is $189, the $15.75 a month its Ultra page quotes as a starting price, and Restream Standard billed yearly is $190, so the two cheapest paid options sit one dollar apart (Ultra page, Restream pricing). The company tier is another matter: Restream Business is $2,390 a year.
- The networks your audience already uses. The Streamlabs multistream FAQ names Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Kick, Facebook, Instagram, Patreon and X, plus custom RTMP (Streamlabs Multistream). LinkedIn appears on the page for Talk Studio, its browser studio, not in that list (Talk Studio). Restream lists more than 30 destinations (Restream pricing). If last quarter's leads came from LinkedIn, start with the tool that names it in its main product.
- Who has to log in. Restream Business includes 2 team seats, sells more at $25 a seat a month and adds team workspaces (pricing). The Streamlabs pages read for this comparison describe one creator's account under a Streamlabs ID and no team seats.
- The figure to read after the third show. Viewers and chat messages per platform, so each extra destination earns its place with numbers rather than hope.
The same questions, two answers
| Question | Restream | Streamlabs |
|---|---|---|
| Where the show is produced | Restream Studio in the browser, or any encoder such as OBS | Streamlabs Desktop, free and open source; Mobile; Console; Talk Studio in the browser |
| Sending to several platforms | 2 channels free, 8 on Business | An Ultra feature; the free Dual Output sends one vertical and one horizontal stream |
| One chat window | Cross-platform chat | Multichat posts to YouTube, Twitch and Facebook Pages, and only reads Kick, X and Facebook profiles |
| Guests | Invite link, up to 10 participants | Collab Cam: 1 guest free, up to 11 on Ultra |
| Team access | 2 seats on Business, $25 a seat beyond | No team seats on the pages read |
| Earning from viewers | Not on the pricing page | Tips, merch store, alerts |
| AI | An MCP server for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor | Sidekick, an on-stream co-host for supported games |
Checked on 26 October 2026 against Restream pricing, the Restream MCP FAQ, Streamlabs Ultra and the Streamlabs Multistream page.
Where they part
A business network, or a creator economy
Restream's FAQ for its MCP server has an answer for corporate, LinkedIn and internal streams, and its Business card sells co-producer mode, team workspaces and a website player for 1,000 viewers (MCP FAQ, pricing). Streamlabs points elsewhere: its Ultra FAQ lists merch profit margins, All Stars status and savings on Logitech G hardware, and its footer carries a Logitech Services S.A. copyright (Streamlabs Ultra). Neither is wrong. They serve different rooms.
What the free tiers already do
Both forward one upload to every platform from their own servers, so your connection carries a single stream (Streamlabs Multistream, Restream pricing). The free tiers differ in shape. Streamlabs Desktop's Dual Output reaches one portrait and one landscape platform at no cost, which suits TikTok plus YouTube. Restream Free reaches any 2 channels, with Restream branding on the stream. LinkedIn plus YouTube, landscape on both, is a Restream shape.
The paperwork after the purchase
Streamlabs' billing article says it does not charge VAT or have a VAT number, and that the receipt's "Bill To" field is the only part you can change (Ultra billing article). For a company in the EU, ask finance before the card goes in. Restream lists centralised invoiced billing among its Enterprise features (pricing).
Prices on 26 October 2026
Restream, US dollars, from its pricing page: Free $0 for 2 channels; Standard $19 a month, or $190 a year; Professional $49, or $470 a year, with 1080p in Studio; Business $239, or $2,390 a year. Add-ons on Business: Webinars at $299 a month for 500 attendees and Clips at $59. The Restream entry records a second version of this page, served earlier the same day, that marks Free and Creator Plus as individual use only and sends companies to Business.
Streamlabs, from its own pages: Ultra at $27 a month or $189 a year in the trial FAQ, last updated 12 August 2026, which matches the "starting at $15.75/mo" on the Ultra page. Ultra Plus is offered with no price shown before sign-in. Streamlabs Desktop itself costs nothing.
Booking the series from a chat window
Restream's MCP server lets an assistant create, schedule and reschedule events, attach destinations, and turn a channel off and on while you are live; it is free with any Restream account and only does what your plan allows (Restream MCP FAQ). For a monthly customer show, ask Claude to create the next three events with their titles and descriptions, attach LinkedIn and YouTube, and switch on the scheduled-broadcast sync so YouTube lists each one in its own schedule. During the show, if one platform drops, ask it to pull that destination and add it back once the connection holds.
The human check: the assistant should ask before every write action, and the producer opens each event in the Restream dashboard to confirm the date, the time zone and the destinations before anything is announced. The FAQ is plain about the limits: no posting in chat, no Studio scenes, no billing changes. Streamlabs' agent, Sidekick, works inside the stream instead, switching scenes on voice command and reacting to supported games (Sidekick).
How the trial ends by default
Streamlabs' trial FAQ describes the default ending: you let the free trial roll into a full Ultra subscription, with an email reminder as it closes (Ultra trial FAQ). The trial is built to become the subscription unless someone stops it, and Streamlabs refunds Ultra only within 7 days of purchase (billing article). Put the decision in the calendar on the day the trial starts.
Run it free first
Before any card: stream a 20-minute rehearsal on Restream Free to two private or unlisted destinations, then the same rehearsal from Streamlabs Desktop with Dual Output to a vertical and a horizontal one. Note what each setup asked of the person running it, and whether the company's real destinations were even on offer. That sheet answers more than either feature list.
The pick
Choose Restream if your job is a company show on LinkedIn, YouTube and X, run by two or more people, produced in its Studio or in an encoder you already own.
Choose Streamlabs if your job is a creator channel on Twitch, YouTube, TikTok or Kick, where tips, alerts, overlays and merch are part of the format.
Restream's plans and limits are in its glossary entry; Streamlabs has no entry, so streamlabs.com is the reference. For Restream with a free desktop encoder, see Restream vs OBS Studio.
FAQ
Can Streamlabs multistream from OBS?
Yes, on Ultra: through the Streamlabs Plugin for OBS, or by pasting the RTMP URL and stream key from the Streamlabs dashboard into OBS (Streamlabs Multistream).
Can Restream air a recorded video as if it were live?
Yes. Its pricing FAQ says Upload & Stream broadcasts pre-recorded content live (Restream pricing).
Which Streamlabs plan includes Talk Studio's multistreaming?
Ultra. The plan comparison lists Talk Studio with multistreaming and no watermark on Ultra and Ultra Plus, and Talk Studio's page offers a 7-day free trial (Streamlabs Ultra, Talk Studio).
