The short answer: if you sign 5 to 15 creators a month and one fake audience would cost more than checking every candidate, let an AI agent build the long list and pre-check each audience, and keep the yes or no with a person. The paid setup is Claude connected to Modash, whose Essentials plan includes the MCP connector and 300 opened profiles a month for $199 a month billed yearly (Modash pricing, checked on 26 October 2026), with HypeAuditor's free audit as a second opinion on finalists. For example, at 25 minutes of hand checking per creator, 40 candidates take 40 x 25 = 1,000 minutes a month; the agent turns most of that into reading one scorecard line per creator.

Finding creators was never the slow part. Deciding which of them have an audience you can sell to is, so the agent sorts and the person signs.

Before the agent opens a single profile:

  1. Price the checks first. Opening a creator profile or audience report through the Modash connector costs 1 profile credit, unless you opened it in the last 30 days, and reading lists or campaign data costs nothing (Modash MCP article). For example, a brief that yields 40 candidates uses 40 of the 300 credits, leaving 300 - 40 = 260 for the month.
  2. Take your pass marks from creators you have paid. Three figures: the minimum share of the audience in the country you sell to, the highest share of suspicious followers you accept, and the competitors whose deals rule a creator out. Read them off the two or three creators whose codes sold last time; the HypeAuditor how-to shows where each figure sits in a report.
  3. Start from creators you already have. People who tag your brand, and customers with an audience: Modash finds creators among imported customer emails, and every plan includes lookalike search (Modash pricing).
  4. Fix the measure before the first post. New customers per creator, divided by the real followers each one reached, for your last campaign. That number is the bar the agent's picks have to clear.

What the brand answers for

The Dutch regulator ACM holds both the influencer and the company that hires them responsible for advertising being recognisable, and its guideline records an order subject to penalty against an influencer who paid for fake likes and followers (ACM guideline, sections 4.2.6 and 6). An inflated audience is a legal problem as well as a wasted fee.

The Advertising Code for Social Media and Influencer Marketing, amended from 1 July 2026, makes the advertiser tell creators about the code, require it in the agreement and act when a label is missing (RSM, Article 6). Under the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, hiding commercial intent is a misleading omission, Article 7(2) (UCPD on EUR-Lex). The label wording is covered in how to use Heepsy, how to use Insense and how to use Upfluence.

Creator data is personal data. Keep only the people you shortlist, say where you found their details in your first message, and leave the final call with a person: Article 22 of the GDPR restricts decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect someone (GDPR on EUR-Lex, Articles 5, 14 and 22).

The workflow: brief in, signed creators out

  1. Trigger: a brief with numbers in it. One row in a shared sheet: platform, country, follower band, niche, fee range and the three pass marks. Modash's own prompt advice is to name platform, niche, follower range and location in every search (prompt guide).
  2. Connect the agent. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, add a custom connector named Modash with the server URL https://marketer.modash.io/mcp, and sign in; it acts with your own Modash permissions (connection guide). Claude's Free plan allows one custom connector (Anthropic help).
  3. The agent builds the long list. Paste the brief and ask for matching creators plus lookalikes of the ones who sold. The agent searches Modash's index of creators above 1K followers on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube (Modash pricing), drops the misfits and saves the rest to a campaign list, after showing you a preview.
  4. The agent pre-checks every audience. For each candidate it opens the profile and audience report and writes one line: audience share in your country, audience quality, engagement rate, brands worked with, pass or fail on each mark, and one sentence of reasoning. It then sets the creator's status in Modash, which the connector can change (MCP article): Pass, Check when a figure sits close to a mark, or Fail. It rejects nobody and contacts nobody.
  5. A second opinion on the finalists. For each Pass, a person runs HypeAuditor's free Instagram audit, which reads engagement and audience quality for any Instagram account. When the fee justifies a full report, its Audience Quality Score runs from 1 to 100 across 15 metrics (AQS article), and its Zapier template can fill a Google Sheet with reports from creator names posted in Slack, beside the agent's line. If the two tools disagree, the creator moves to Check.
  6. The person makes the call. Someone who knows the brand opens each finalist's last ten posts, looks for competitor deals and for past sponsored posts without a label, and marks yes, no or hold with a reason. A creator who skipped labels for another brand is a risk for yours, and under the code you would share the blame.
  7. Output: an approved list. Approved creators move into a campaign. The first message comes from a person and says where their details came from; the agreement names the ad label. When the campaign closes, the rejected rows leave the sheet.

Two other routes reach steps 3 and 4. Upfluence's MCP server searches its database and checks audience demographics and past brand mentions, but it is a beta with access on request (Upfluence MCP) on a 12-month minimum (Upfluence pricing). HypeAuditor's AI Scout returns up to 50 creators from a written brief, each with a reason, in AI credits deducted only once the search starts (AI Scout).

The same job on free plans

Heepsy's free plan is permanent and needs no card: 500 search results and 10 advanced-profile opens a month, with AI search by prompt (free plan article). A page of results costs 24 credits and a changed filter counts as a new search (credits article); for example, 500 results buy 20 pages, since 20 x 24 = 480. Each advanced profile shows real against suspicious followers, audience location, language, age and gender (advanced profile).

Write the brief as one Heepsy AI prompt, set every filter before the first search, open advanced profiles only for the ten strongest cards, run each through the free HypeAuditor audit, and score them in a sheet. Ten creators a month at full depth is enough for a first programme. Heepsy's terms forbid automated systems that scrape its data, on pain of a permanent ban (scraping policy), so here its own AI search is the AI step, and the agent is you.

What the paid route adds, side by side

Volume and a record. The agent pre-checks the whole long list before a person reads any of it, and every Pass, Check and Fail sits in Modash with its reason, so a shortlist can be explained a month later.

All prices were checked on 26 October 2026. Modash's FAQ says yearly billing saves $100 a month on Essentials (Modash pricing), so for example monthly billing works out at $199 + $100 = $299. Heepsy Plus is $149 a month on yearly billing, per its pricing page.

Read Heepsy's tiers with the vetting job in mind. The free plan lets you open ten advanced profiles and find a fake audience one creator at a time, while the audience authenticity filter and the audience quality score filter, which keep such creators off the results page in the first place, sit on Plus at $199 a month billed monthly (Heepsy pricing). The check is free per creator; the prevention is sold one tier up.

My recommendation: run the free version for one month. If more than half of the ten profiles fail your pass marks, hand-checking is where the hours go, and that is the work the $199 agent takes over.

Did the agent pick better creators?

Two numbers settle it. New customers per 1,000 real followers reached, per creator, against the baseline from the list at the top. And the share of the agent's Pass verdicts that the person turned into a no, which should fall as the brief improves.

Then a holdout in time. Give each creator a different posting week, and compare new-customer orders in the seven days after each post with the seven days before. A discount code counts every buyer who typed it, including people who would have bought anyway, so the week-on-week change is the fairer reading of what a creator moved. In the first month, add two hand-picked creators to the same campaign and read them the same way: if the agent's picks do no better, the hours saved are the whole gain. That can be enough.

Later, if you want that lift estimated for every creator without the spreadsheet, Causality Engine, a causal attribution tool, is built for it; disclosure: I founded it.

FAQ

Can an AI agent search Heepsy for me?

No. Heepsy's terms bar manual or automated systems used to access or scrape its data and end in a permanent ban without refund; its AI search mode, run by a person, is the automation it offers (scraping policy).

Does every question to the agent cost a Modash credit?

No. Reading campaigns, lists and affiliate data through the connector is free. Opening a creator profile or audience report costs 1 profile credit unless you opened it in the last 30 days, and creator emails use export credits (MCP article).

Is a high audience score enough to say yes?

No. HypeAuditor's own article on its score advises against choosing on it alone (AQS article), and no score shows whether a creator labels paid posts or has just signed with a competitor. That is what the person in step 6 reads.
