The short answer: for six marketers and no designer, Adobe Express for teams costs US$299.94 in the first year and US$479.94 a year after that, against US$1,500 a year for six seats of Canva Business (Express for business, Canva pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Canva earns the higher seat price with 100 Brand Kits and approvals, a larger AI allowance and Flourish for interactive charts. Creative Cloud itself, from US$69.99 a month on an annual plan for Creative Cloud Pro, matters only when someone on the team designs in Photoshop or Illustrator (Creative Cloud plans). Choose Adobe if your job is adapting a designer's files at volume. Choose Canva if your job is a whole team designing from templates.

The search behind this page is usually "Adobe Express vs Canva", and that is the fair pairing: Express is Adobe's template editor for marketers, sold alone or inside Creative Cloud. The full Creative Cloud apps are a different purchase, for a different person.
Before the seats are bought:
- Six seats, two years. For example, Express for teams at US$49.99 per licence in the first year and US$79.99 after, with a two-seat minimum, gives 6 x 49.99 = US$299.94 and then 6 x 79.99 = US$479.94; Canva Business gives 6 x 250 = US$1,500 every year, per the Express business page and Canva pricing.
- Where your design files already are. If a designer works in Photoshop or Illustrator, Express lets marketers add .psd and .ai files to a design and picks up the designer's later edits (Express pricing). If your brand already sits in a Canva Brand Kit, moving it is a project of its own.
- Off-brand designs, counted. List last quarter's published designs that broke the brand: wrong logo, wrong font, wrong colour. Repeat after a quarter with locked templates in either tool. The count should fall.

Three differences that matter
Where the design starts
Adobe's offer makes most sense when design starts with a designer: Photoshop and Illustrator for the key visual, Express for the forty versions marketing needs. Canva's makes most sense when design starts with a template and nobody on the team owns a Creative Cloud licence. Canva Free already lists access to Affinity (Canva pricing), so even a team with occasional advanced editing does not need Adobe for that reason alone.
What a seat costs once there is a team
Canva Pro covers one person, so a team starts at Business, US$250 a year a head. Adobe's team product for marketers, Express for teams, lists at US$79.99 a year a head, and the Creative Cloud Pro for teams licence, at US$99.99 a month each, is only for the people who need the full apps (teams plans). The gap is largest for a big team of non-designers.
How each sells its AI
Adobe says its Firefly-powered features in Express are designed to be safe for commercial use and that its Firefly models are trained on licensed and public domain content (Express for business); models from partners such as Google, OpenAI and Flux sit on their own line of the plan table (Express pricing), so record which model made each picture. Canva sells a shared allowance, 10 times Free on Pro and 20 times on Business, with an AI Pass add-on (Canva pricing). The licence check for any generated picture is set out in the social graphics use case.
Prices, read on 26 October 2026
Adobe: Express Premium US$9.99 a month with a 30-day free trial; Firefly Pro, which adds 4,000 credits and Photoshop on web and mobile, US$19.99 a month; Express for teams US$79.99 a year per licence after a US$49.99 first year; Creative Cloud Pro US$69.99 a month on an annual plan, with US$34.99 for the first three months for new subscribers (Express pricing, Creative Cloud plans). Canva asks US$144 a year, or US$18 monthly, for its one-person Pro plan, and US$250 a year, or US$25 monthly, for each Business seat, with tax added at checkout (Canva pricing).
One agent step: a product catalogue from a price list
Adobe for Claude connects Claude to Express, Acrobat, Photoshop, Firefly and Adobe Stock, and one of its documented workflows turns product photos, descriptions and pricing into a formatted catalogue or PDF (Adobe for Claude). Install it from Claude's Customize screen, connect your Adobe account, attach the product photos and a sheet with SKU, name, description and price, and ask for a catalogue from an Express brochure template in your brand colours.
The person who owns the price list checks the result before it is shared: every price and SKU against the sheet, every photo against its product, and the validity date on the cover. The same page notes that Adobe for Claude is not optimised for enterprise use and that enterprise accounts cannot use its Express features, so test it from the account type you will run it on. Canva's own connector is shown at work in AdCreative.ai vs Canva.
The introductory seat price
Express for teams is sold at US$49.99 per licence for the first year, prepaid, then renews at US$79.99, with a two-seat minimum (Express for business). Nobody has to decide anything for the higher price to arrive: six seats bought for a pilot become a US$479.94 bill in year two. Put the renewal review on the calendar for month eleven, with the seat count beside it.
The free versions first
Both have free plans without a card. Adobe Express Free includes templates, stock, editing tools and scheduling to one account per social network (Express pricing); Canva's free tier covers more than 1,000 design types with 20 AI uses (Canva pricing). Give the same brief, one product post in three sizes, to the same marketer in both, and keep whichever version needed fewer fixes from whoever guards the brand.
Choose Adobe if your job is adapting a designer's Photoshop and Illustrator work into many channel versions, or seating a large team of non-designers at the lower team price.
Choose Canva if your job is a team designing from templates with brand approvals, interactive charts and a shared AI allowance, with no Creative Cloud licences to manage.
The Adobe Creative Cloud entry sets out the plans and the cancellation terms, and how to use Adobe Creative Cloud resizes a single key visual for every channel.
FAQ
Who owns designs made in Express for teams?
Adobe's business page lists company ownership of Express projects and assets among the organisation-level benefits of its business plans, with an Admin Console for licences and 1TB of storage per user (Express for business).
Does Canva still sell the Teams plan that Adobe compares Express with?
No. Adobe's business page sets Express for teams beside "Canva Teams", while Canva has closed Teams to new sign-ups and upgrades, per its pricing FAQ (Canva pricing). For a new team, compare Express with Canva Business.
Do I need Creative Cloud to use Adobe Express?
No. Express is sold alone, from a free plan to Premium at US$9.99 a month (Express pricing); Creative Cloud is for people who need Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere and the other desktop apps.
