The short answer: if your team already makes its social posts, ads and one-pagers in Canva, make the decks there as well: Business costs US$250 a year per person and carries 100 Brand Kits with approvals (Canva pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Beautiful.ai earns a separate budget line when one approved deck leaves the building through five salespeople and must not drift on the way: its Team plan is $40 a month billed annually, with locked slides, version control and a central slide library (Beautiful.ai pricing). Choose Canva if your job is many formats from one brand. Choose Beautiful.ai if your job is the same deck, rebuilt every week, that nobody is allowed to break.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

The real question is rarely which tool makes nicer slides. It is who may move things: Canva hands every editor a canvas inside the brand's colours and fonts, while Beautiful.ai takes the canvas away on purpose.

What decides it, in order:

  1. Three seats, two readings of one price. For example, three people on Canva Business pay 3 x US$250 = US$750 a year. Beautiful.ai's Team card says $40 a month "includes 3 users", which is 12 x $40 = $480 a year, while the FAQ on the same pricing page says $40 per user for teams of 2 to 20, which is 3 x $40 x 12 = $1,440. Get the figure in writing before anyone enters a card.
  2. The deck sales sends today. Beautiful.ai imports PowerPoint into every seat, but imported slides arrive as Classic Slides that do not adapt, per its template guide, so the slides people edit most need rebuilding. In Canva, the same deck starts as a design your team already knows how to edit.
  3. The number of live copies. Count the versions of the sales deck sitting in shared drives this week. After a month on either tool, count again. The tool that brings that number down did the job you bought it for.

Where they part company

Guardrails, or a blank canvas with a brand on it

Beautiful.ai's design engine decides the layout; you decide the content. That suits a sales floor where nobody should be nudging logos the night before a pitch. Canva assumes the person editing is allowed to design, and its controls sit around the brand (fonts, colours, approvals) rather than inside each slide.

One format, or the whole calendar

Canva's Free plan already covers more than 1,000 design types (Canva pricing), so the deck sits next to the LinkedIn post, the event banner and the one-pager it was made from. Beautiful.ai makes presentations and nothing else. If decks are a tenth of your design work, a second tool for that tenth needs a reason.

How the AI is paid for

Beautiful.ai includes unlimited AI content generation in every seat (pricing page). Canva meters it: up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses on Free, ten times Free's allowance on Pro, twenty times on Business, with an AI Pass sold on top (Canva pricing). A team that redrafts decks with AI every day will feel the meter on Canva sooner than on Beautiful.ai.

Prices, side by side

All in US dollars, checked on 26 October 2026 on the Beautiful.ai pricing page and the Canva pricing page, which notes that its prices exclude tax.

PlanPaid yearlyPaid monthlyWho it covers
Beautiful.ai Pro$14.50 a month$45One person
Beautiful.ai Team$40 a month$50Card: 3 users; FAQ: per user, 2 to 20 seats

An agent that starts from the approved template

Beautiful.ai's MCP connector works inside the account with the signed-in user's own permissions, and three of its tools make a sales sequence (MCP article). list_presentation_templates finds the approved proposal template. get_presentation_template_variables scans it for ${variable} placeholders and returns what must be filled in, such as the client name, the price and the start date. create_presentation_from_template then copies the template into the workspace, so the master stays untouched.

The human check sits between the copy and the client. The account owner fills each placeholder from the signed order form, reads every figure on the slides against it, and only then uses export_presentation for a PDF or creates a share link. When the agent also writes claims (results, comparisons, customer names), give the draft the figure-by-figure review in Draft a Sales Deck With AI, Then Source Every Number before anything is shared.

Canva's MCP server does the equivalent on Canva designs; AdCreative.ai vs Canva walks a brief into editable designs, and FlexClip vs Canva refreshes an existing promo.

The switch on Canva's pricing page

Canva's pricing page opens with the Yearly switch on, so the first Pro figure a visitor reads is US$144, one payment covering twelve months, and the monthly price sits behind the toggle (Canva pricing). For a short campaign that default costs money: for example, three months of Pro on monthly billing is 3 x US$18 = US$54, against US$144 paid up front. Flip the switch before you check out.

The free test, then the choice

Rebuild your most-copied deck on Canva Free first, from its presentation templates, and send it to two salespeople for a week. If they change the layout, break the logo or ask for a locked version, you have your answer, and Beautiful.ai's trial is worth the card. If nobody touches anything but the client name, Canva already does the job.

  • Choose Beautiful.ai if your job is one approved deck, reused weekly by several people who should edit words and never layouts.
  • Choose Canva if your job is a whole brand's visual output, with decks as one format among many and a designer who wants the canvas.

Plans and limits for one side are in the Beautiful.ai glossary entry; turning the deck into a locked team template is covered in how to use Beautiful.ai.

FAQ

Can two people share one Canva Pro account?

No. Canva's pricing FAQ says only one person can use a Pro account; a team needs Business, at US$250 a year per person on yearly billing (Canva pricing).

Is there a cheap way to make a single Beautiful.ai deck?

Yes. The pricing page offers the Pro plan at $45 billed monthly for one-off projects, cancellable at any time (Beautiful.ai pricing). Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable, per the same page's FAQ.

Does a Beautiful.ai deck leave as a PowerPoint file?

Yes. Every seat includes PowerPoint import and export, per the pricing page.
