The short answer: under 150 slides a month, one person, a different deck for every meeting: that is Decktopus's Pro plan, $9.99 a month billed $119.88 a year, with 750 AI credits (Decktopus pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). Beautiful.ai answers another job, a team reusing one approved deck, at $14.50 a month billed annually for Pro or $40 for Team (Beautiful.ai pricing). Choose Decktopus if your job is pitching, proposing or teaching to a new audience each week and rehearsing before you walk in. Choose Beautiful.ai if your job is keeping five people's versions of the same deck identical.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Decktopus says it outright on its pricing page: no templates, every deck generated fresh from the prompt. Beautiful.ai is built around the opposite idea, a library of approved slides people reuse. Which of those sounds like relief tells you most of the answer.

Price the slides before the seats:

  1. Credits on one side, none on the other. Decktopus charges 5 credits to generate a slide and 5 for each AI edit (credits article). For example, four 15-slide decks a month with two AI edits per slide cost 60 x 5 + 120 x 5 = 900 credits, 150 more than Pro's 750; a 300-credit pack at $19.99 closes the gap and never expires, or Business gives 1,000 per seat. Beautiful.ai has no meter: every seat includes unlimited AI content generation (pricing).
  2. What you bring to the first draft. Decktopus starts from a topic or an uploaded file and pulls your brand from your website URL (Decktopus pricing). Beautiful.ai starts from a prompt, files or links, or a team template, and imports PowerPoint as Classic Slides that do not adapt (template guide).
  3. One number per deck. Pick replies or meetings booked within a week of sending, per deck. Both vendors sell slide-level analytics, Decktopus on Business and Beautiful.ai on Team, so the number can be read where the deck lives.

The two differences that matter

Generated each time, or reused each time

A consultant who pitches a logistics firm on Monday and a hospital on Thursday gains from a tool that writes structure, words and design from a topic. A sales team that sends the same product deck forty times a month gains nothing from fresh generation and loses consistency with every regeneration. Decktopus fits the first; Beautiful.ai's locked slides and version control on Team fit the second.

Practice, or a library

Decktopus spends its effort after the slides: Loop, included on Pro and above, coaches the delivery with simulated audience questions and feedback on pacing and clarity (pricing page). Beautiful.ai spends it before the slides: a central slide and template library, live data linked to charts, and slides translated into more than 100 languages (pricing page).

Building a deck from a chat with the Decktopus connector

Decktopus runs a remote MCP server, so Claude can create a presentation inside a conversation (MCP guide). Add it in Claude as a custom connector, sign in to Decktopus when asked, and switch the connector on from the + menu, since new connectors start off. Then ask for the deck in plain words: audience, purpose, length. One request can chain several tools, such as checking your AI credits, listing your organizations and creating the presentation, and the guide says Claude asks you to approve each tool the first time it runs. The finished deck comes back as a live link.

Keep two checks in the loop. On the create step, answer "Allow once" rather than "Always allow", so each new deck spends credits only when a person said so. Then open the live link and read every slide before anyone else sees it: the deck is generated fresh, so nothing in it has been approved before. Where it states figures or results, the review in Draft a Sales Deck With AI, Then Source Every Number is the one to follow. Beautiful.ai's connector works from approved templates instead; Beautiful.ai vs Canva shows that route.

Read the badge, then the refund policy

Decktopus puts a "Save $180/yr" badge on the annual Pro plan and refunds no subscription of any length (pricing page, refund policy). The $119.88 paid on the first day is therefore spent whether the second pitch of the year happens or not. Pay monthly until three months of real use show your volume.

Free first

Decktopus's first deck is free, without export and with a watermark (free trial article): enough to judge whether a generated deck needs ten minutes of edits or an hour. Beautiful.ai has no free plan on its pricing page; its 14-day trial needs a card and turns into a paid Pro plan when it ends (trial article). Make the free Decktopus deck first, on a real brief.

  • Choose Decktopus if your job is a new deck for a new audience most weeks, built by the person who presents it, with rehearsal before the meeting.
  • Choose Beautiful.ai if your job is one approved deck reused across a team, with layouts nobody can break and no credit meter.

The entries for Decktopus and Beautiful.ai cover each plan in full; how to use Decktopus builds and rehearses a conference talk.

FAQ

Can I buy Decktopus credits without a subscription?

Yes. The credits article lists packs from 40 credits for $4.99 to 36,000 for $999 that never expire. Export and watermark removal still need a subscription, per the free trial article.

Does Decktopus keep a team template?

Not in Beautiful.ai's sense. Its pricing page says every deck is generated fresh from the prompt; Business adds a team workspace and a Brand Kit so the look stays consistent (pricing page).

Is my content used to train Decktopus's AI?

No. The pricing FAQ says your data is excluded from AI training by default (pricing page).
