The short answer: you are not misreading the two pricing pages: Colossyan Professional and Synthesia Pro both cost $59 a month on yearly billing, and only the first exports SCORM at that price, 5 packages a month, while Synthesia reserves SCORM for Enterprise (Colossyan pricing, Synthesia sharing article, checked on 26 October 2026). Pick Colossyan when modules must land in an LMS and two or three people build them. Pick Synthesia when the library changes a line at a time and lives on links and embeds, because Synthesia charges only for the footage you regenerate.

Red flags before a year's contract:
- The cost of a correction, worked out. For example, ten 6-minute modules, each revised once a quarter with a 30-second change. Colossyan regenerates the whole video every time, so that is 10 x 6 = 60 minutes a quarter, two months of Professional's 30 NEO minutes (minutes article). Synthesia counts only new footage, so it is 10 x 0.5 = 5 minutes, about 500 credits at its rate of roughly 100 credits a finished minute (Synthesia pricing).
- Who writes the modules today. Colossyan Professional takes up to 3 editors. Synthesia's Starter and Pro have one editor each, with 3 or 5 guests who can review (Synthesia pricing). Two authors on Synthesia means one login or an Enterprise conversation.
- The record you will judge it by. The completion rate of the module this replaces, from your LMS, taken before anything new is published.
Both sell avatar training video with an AI that drafts from documents. The decision sits in three rows of their plan tables, not in the avatars.

What separates them
Getting a module into the LMS
Colossyan's FAQ says its packages work with any SCORM 1.2 or 2004 LMS, naming Workday, Cornerstone, Docebo, Litmos and Absorb (pricing FAQ). Synthesia's export, with a completion threshold you set, is Enterprise only (sharing article). If the LMS is the only place training counts, that row ends it.
Fixing a line after it ships
A generated Colossyan video is an MP4 that cannot be edited in Colossyan; a change means generating again, at full length (minutes article). Synthesia charges only for new footage, and an embedded Synthesia video updates wherever it is embedded, with no re-upload (sharing article). A policy library that moves every month is cheaper to keep on Synthesia, provided people watch it on a page rather than inside the LMS.
Two authors, or one author and reviewers
Colossyan adds editors at $30 a month each on yearly billing, $45 on monthly, up to three (pricing). Synthesia gives one editor and lets reviewers in as guests. An enablement team where sales and product both write scripts needs the first model.
Prices on 26 October 2026
- Colossyan: Starter free, with 20 NEO minutes a month and no SCORM; Professional $59 a month billed yearly or $89 billed monthly for one editor; Enterprise quoted (Colossyan pricing).
- Synthesia: Basic free, watermarked; Starter $14 a month billed yearly ($168) or $19 monthly; Pro $59 billed yearly ($708) or $89 monthly; Enterprise quoted (Synthesia pricing).
For example, two editors on monthly billing: Colossyan Professional is $89 + $45 = $134 a month. Synthesia has no second editor seat below Enterprise, so the like-for-like figure is a quote.
A welcome video per new starter
Colossyan's API generates the same video the editor does, the editor exports the API call for you once the video is built, and its Zapier integration triggers video creation on a form submission or a CRM update, with variables for the viewer's name and message (API page). Build the onboarding welcome once, with the new starter's name and team as variables, and point a Zapier trigger at the HR form. The human check: the HR owner signs off the template script once, then watches the first five personalised renders end to end before the zap runs without anyone looking, because a variable that arrives empty reads aloud as a gap. Professional includes 360 API minutes a year (pricing). On Synthesia, the same pattern runs through its Make integration, which needs an account with API access (Make guide).
What the annual card asks of you
Colossyan's annual plan delivers the year's minutes on day one, and its FAQ says a cancelled annual plan stays active to the end of the period, with unused months not refunded (pricing FAQ). The yearly discount is bought with twelve months of commitment, so price the library on monthly billing until the module count is known.
Free versions first
Colossyan's Starter needs no card and gives 20 NEO minutes a month; Synthesia's Basic plan gives 10 minutes a month with a watermark and shares by link (Colossyan pricing, Synthesia pricing). Build the same 3-minute module from one policy document in each. Then change one sentence and generate again, and read what each balance lost. That second number predicts your year better than the first.
Which one, for which job
Choose Colossyan if your job is a course library that must report completions through SCORM, built by two or three people, without an enterprise contract.
Choose Synthesia if your job is a library of scripted videos that change often and are watched on share pages and embeds, written by one person with reviewers as guests.
Background on each: Colossyan and Synthesia. Each one is also set against HeyGen in Colossyan vs HeyGen and Synthesia vs HeyGen.
FAQ
Can Synthesia export SCORM on Pro?
No. Its sharing article lists SCORM export, in 1.2 or 2004 with a completion threshold, as Enterprise only (sharing article).
Can a Colossyan subscription be paused?
Yes, for up to two months at no charge, by asking in the chat, according to the pricing FAQ.
Which covers more languages?
Synthesia lists 140+ languages and voices, with dubbing in 70+ on self-serve plans (Synthesia pricing). Colossyan lists 120+, with narration, on-screen text and interactive elements localised together (Colossyan pricing).
