The short answer: if one marketer needs research, drafts, decks and a Monday summary of Slack, Claude's Pro plan covers it for $20 a month billed monthly, with scheduled tasks and connected apps, checked on 26 October 2026 on Claude's pricing page. If ten colleagues need the same agent in Slack, started by CRM events and drawing on one credit pool, Gumloop's Pro plan starts at $37 a month with 20,000 credits and unlimited seats (Gumloop pricing).
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
What Claude changes is how little you set up. In Anthropic's new experience, chat and Cowork merge into one conversation: you describe an outcome, and Claude works through the steps, searching the web, reading your files, running code and using the apps you connected, while longer tasks keep running in the cloud after you close the laptop (Claude Cowork and chat are one Claude). The job it wins is one person's knowledge work, briefed in plain language each time. Gumloop starts from the agent instead: you give it a model, instructions, connectors and skills once, and colleagues reach it in Slack, Teams or by email (agents).
Before handing either one a task:
- Price the people, not the plan. For example, five marketers on Claude Team standard seats cost 5 x $25 = $125 a month billed monthly, or 5 x $20 = $100 billed annually (Claude pricing). On Gumloop the five share one Pro plan from $37 a month, whose 20,000 credits are worth 20,000 x $0.005 = $100 at list price (credits).
- Start from the apps you already connect. Claude works with connected apps such as Google Drive, Gmail, Microsoft 365 and Slack (one Claude), plus remote MCP servers as custom connectors, one of them on the Free plan (custom connectors). Gumloop agents act through 300+ connectors and custom MCP servers (agents).
- Choose the output you will count. Claude's plan usage resets in rolling five-hour windows, with weekly limits on paid plans (pricing FAQ); Gumloop shows each chat's running credit cost in its header (credits). Count briefs delivered or accounts researched per week, not the meter.
Question by question
| Question | Claude | Gumloop |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | One assistant for chat and multi-step tasks (one Claude) | A platform to build, share and govern agents (agents) |
| How you pay | A plan price with usage limits; Enterprise adds usage at API rates (pricing) | Credits at $0.005 plus an 8% orchestration fee (credits) |
| Work that starts by itself | Scheduled tasks: hourly, daily, weekly, weekdays or on demand, on paid plans (scheduled tasks) | App, webhook, scheduled and one-time triggers (agents) |
| Where people reach it | Web, desktop and mobile; Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365 from Pro (pricing) | Email inbox, Slack, Teams, hosted page, API and MCP (agents) |
| Models | Anthropic's Claude models; Opus from Pro | 35+ models; your own provider keys on Pro (pricing) |
| Before an action | Auto by default on Pro, Max and Team; Manual on Enterprise (one Claude) | Always allow by default; ask presets per connector (human in the loop) |
| Seats | One on Pro and Max; 2 to 150 on Team | Unlimited on Pro |
Three ways they differ
One person, or a shared agent
Claude Pro and Max are individual plans, and the Team plan is sold per seat to teams of 2 to 150 (Claude pricing). A Gumloop agent is built once and shared: Pro includes unlimited seats and teams with shared credentials, and an agent can sit in a Slack channel where the whole team works with it (Gumloop pricing, agents). Claude fits the person; Gumloop fits the role.
What sets the work off
A Claude scheduled task saves your prompt and runs it on a cadence in the cloud, even when your computer is asleep (scheduled tasks). A Gumloop agent can also fire on an app event, such as a new email or a changed record, or on a webhook (agents). If the trigger is a customer action rather than a time of day, that difference decides it.
How the bill moves
On Claude the price is fixed and the limit is usage, which grows with message length, tools, model choice and multi-step tasks (usage limit practices). On Gumloop the plan is fixed and each chat costs what it consumes: model tokens at the provider's price, 1 credit per successful connector call and 5 credits per active minute (credits).
One Gumloop agent, run from Claude
The two connect in a documented way. Gumloop's MCP server is added to Claude under Settings, Connectors, as a custom connector; after one Gumloop sign-in, Claude can create, update and run your Gumloop agents (Gumloop MCP setup). The job: before Thursday's sales calls, a marketer asks Claude to start a session with the team's account research agent for five named companies and return the briefs. The agent's HubSpot connector is set to Ask for writes/deletes, so it reads freely but any CRM update waits on an approval card (human in the loop). On Claude's side, the Manual permission setting makes Claude ask before it takes actions, so you allow each one (one Claude).
Prices, checked on 26 October 2026
From Claude's pricing page and Gumloop's pricing page, per month:
| Tier | Claude, billed monthly | Claude, billed annually | Gumloop |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | No free plan; 14-day Pro trial with a card |
| One person | Pro, $20 | Pro, $17, paid as $200 up front | Pro from $37, unlimited seats |
| Heavy use | Max, from $100, billed monthly only | Not offered | Pro, plus credit overage at $0.005 |
| Teams | Team: $25 standard seat, $125 premium seat | $20 and $100 a seat | Pro, same price |
| Large organisations | Not offered | Enterprise: $20 a seat plus usage at API rates, 20-seat minimum | Custom |
Gumloop's Pro includes 20,000 credits a month, 7,400 at list price plus 12,600 bonus credits, with no rollover; its trial becomes a paid Pro subscription unless cancelled (credits).
Neither vendor's default makes the agent stop and ask. Gumloop's connector approval mode starts on Always allow, and Claude's permission setting starts on Auto on Pro, Max and Team, where it keeps working without pausing at each step and runs automated safety checks instead (human in the loop, one Claude). Both settings let tasks finish without waiting on you, which is what makes an agent look worth its plan in the first fortnight; you need the opposite, a stop before the first customer email. Before anything reaches a customer, switch to Ask for writes/deletes on Gumloop and Manual on Claude.
Choose Claude if your job is
- One person's research, writing, analysis and files, started from a conversation.
- Recurring briefings from Slack, Drive or Gmail on a schedule, read by you before anyone acts.
- Work inside Chrome or Microsoft 365, which the pricing page lists from Pro.
Choose Gumloop if your job is
- An agent many colleagues use in Slack, Teams or email, on one credit pool with unlimited seats.
- Work that starts from an app event or a webhook rather than from a person.
- Picking a different model per agent from 35+, or bringing your own keys.
Do it by hand first
Run the job once on Claude's Free plan, which includes web search, file creation and connected apps: paste the five company names, ask for the briefs, and time how long you spend checking them (Claude pricing). If one person needs that every week, a Claude scheduled task on a paid plan repeats it. If several colleagues need it, triggered by the CRM, that is the case for Gumloop's trial, with a reminder set before day 14.
When the decision behind this page is bigger than one tool, which agents the marketing team should run, who approves their actions and how their output is judged, that is the agentic marketing work I sell.
FAQ
Can Claude run a Gumloop agent?
Yes. Gumloop documents adding its MCP server to Claude as a custom connector, after which Claude can create, update and run your agents (Gumloop MCP setup).
Is Claude billed per task?
Not on Free, Pro, Max or Team: those are plan prices with usage limits. Enterprise is a seat price plus usage at API rates (Claude pricing).
Can Gumloop use Claude models?
Yes, among 35+ models; with your own Anthropic key, model credits drop to 0 and the orchestration fee rises from 8% to 16% (credits).
