The short answer: if you have to prove to a client or a CFO that a creator's audience is real, on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X or Twitch, HypeAuditor is the deeper tool, with reports on 226.8M+ accounts and 35+ vetting metrics, priced through a demo (HypeAuditor homepage, pricing page, read on 26 October 2026). If you sell on Shopify and want gifting, tracking and a price before any call, Modash fits: Essentials is $199 a month billed yearly, $2,388 for the year, and the FAQ puts monthly billing $100 a month higher (Modash pricing, checked on 26 October 2026). HypeAuditor wins the audit; Modash wins the running programme.

Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.

Write these down before the demo:

  1. Profiles opened a month. For example, signing 8 creators a month after opening 5 candidates for each is 8 x 5 = 40 profiles, against the 300 Modash Essentials includes (Modash pricing). On HypeAuditor, ask for 40 reports a month priced, 480 a year; each report stays readable for 12 months while you subscribe (report access).
  2. The audience you already have. Modash Essentials finds up to 3,000 creators a month among the people who follow you on Instagram, YouTube or TikTok (Modash pricing); HypeAuditor lists influential customers among its discovery tools (HypeAuditor homepage). Creators who already know the product are the cheapest to vet.
  3. One account, two free verdicts. Run a creator you have paid before through Modash's fake follower check, which needs no sign-up, and HypeAuditor's free Instagram audit. Where the two disagree, you have the question to bring to the demo.

The three that matter

How far the audience check goes

HypeAuditor's score folds four things into one number: engagement rate, the share of real people among followers, unusual growth in followers and followings, and whether recent comments come from engagement pods (AQS article). Its own article warns against choosing on the score alone, and the report behind it is the point. Modash shows audience location, demographics, interests and quality in every plan (Modash pricing), enough to screen a list. An agency defending a six-figure roster to a client needs the first. A brand gifting product to 40 micro-creators can work with the second.

Who hears the price first

Modash prints its limits and lets you buy on a card; HypeAuditor's pricing page is a demo form, with a free account that includes media plans, campaign management and demo versions of other features (HypeAuditor pricing). Neither is wrong. A published price suits a team testing creators for a quarter; a quote suits a buyer whose volume will move the number.

Three networks and a shop, or five and a market view

HypeAuditor reaches X and Twitch, and its market analysis benchmarks competitors' creator programmes (homepage). Modash stays on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and spends its depth on Shopify: codes, orders and revenue synced both ways, gifting, and affiliates (Modash homepage). A games brand recruiting on Twitch needs the first; a DTC shop, the second.

What each costs, as far as it is published

Modash, checked on 26 October 2026 on its pricing page: Essentials $199 a month on yearly billing ($2,388), or $299 month to month, since the FAQ says yearly saves $100 a month; Performance $499 yearly ($5,988), or $599 monthly, with payments and, on yearly billing, affiliates; Enterprise from $14,700 a year. The 14-day trial asks for no card and allows 20 profile views, 6 email reveals and 10 tracked creators.

HypeAuditor publishes no figure (pricing page, read the same day). Subscriptions renew monthly, quarterly or yearly, and partial periods are not refunded (cancellation article).

One agent step: who to book again

Modash's MCP connector lets Claude or ChatGPT read campaigns, lists and affiliate data for free; opening a creator profile costs 1 profile credit unless you opened it in the last 30 days (MCP article). Modash publishes a ready-made prompt for rebooking: rank the creators in your most recent finished campaign by cost per view and by sales, pick the 5 that come out strongest on both, check each one's CRM status, labels and other campaigns, and say who to book again and why (prompt guide). The agent proposes five names and contacts nobody. A person then opens each creator's latest posts for missing ad labels and new competitor deals, and, where the next fee is large, buys a fresh HypeAuditor report to see whether the audience has shifted since the last booking. The rules on ad labels and on what creator data you may keep are in the creator vetting use case.

Choose HypeAuditor if your job is

  • Defending a creator shortlist to a client or board with audience-quality evidence.
  • Working with creators on X or Twitch as well as the big three.
  • Benchmarking competitors' creator programmes before setting your own.

Choose Modash if your job is

  • Running gifting, tracking and codes for a Shopify store from one place.
  • Buying self-serve, month to month, at a price you can read today.
  • Asking Claude or ChatGPT about campaigns without spending credits on the reading.

Each side in more depth: the HypeAuditor entry. Modash has no entry here; its own site is modash.io.

Free first, and what happens to your lists

The two free checks in the list above cost nothing and calibrate both tools on a creator whose sales you already know. Modash's 14-day trial then runs the real workflow without a card; HypeAuditor's free account runs media plans and campaign management.

Modash keeps a cancelled account's data for 90 days and then deletes it for good (Modash pricing FAQ). A year of CRM notes, statuses and campaign reports built in its interface is the reason the renewal feels safer than leaving, so export lists and campaign reports to your own drive each quarter, while the subscription that makes exporting easy is still live.

Later, if the rebooking call keeps resting on discount-code sales that include buyers who would have ordered anyway, a causal attribution tool such as Causality Engine measures each creator's lift continuously; disclosure: I founded it.

FAQ

Can I check a creator on either without paying?

Yes. Modash's fake follower check reads any Instagram account without a sign-up, and HypeAuditor's free Instagram audit reads engagement and audience quality (Modash check, HypeAuditor audit).

Which one covers X and Twitch?

HypeAuditor, alongside Instagram, TikTok and YouTube (HypeAuditor homepage). Modash lists Instagram, TikTok and YouTube (Modash pricing).

Can an AI assistant work inside HypeAuditor?

HypeAuditor's overview article says an MCP server lets AI assistants access its data and perform tasks (overview article), but its help centre showed no setup guide on 26 October 2026. Ask for one in the demo.
