The short answer: if the question in front of you is whether a creator's 80,000 followers are people before you agree a fee, HypeAuditor is the tool built for it, with reports on 226.8M+ accounts and 35+ vetting metrics (HypeAuditor homepage). If the question is how to recruit 40 customers who post about you and pay each of them on the sales their code brings, Upfluence is built for that, on a fixed fee with a 12-month minimum (Upfluence pricing FAQ). Neither publishes a price: HypeAuditor's pricing page is a demo form with a free sign-up, and Upfluence quotes each customer by module, team size and programme volume (both read on 26 October 2026).
Disclosure: I may earn a commission through some links on this site. It does not change what this page says.
Settle these before either demo:
- Know what a code sale will cost you. Upfluence calculates commission on the sale value without tax and shipping, with the discount taken off, and counts only orders marked Paid (commissions article). For example, a €100 basket before tax, a 20% creator code and €6 shipping leave a base of €100 - €20 = €80, so a 10% commission is €8. Multiply by last year's code orders and you have the commission bill that a fixed platform fee sits beside.
- Export the customer list you already own. Both tools match customers to creator profiles. HypeAuditor takes a CSV or XLS of customer emails, or a Shopify connection that updates daily (Influential Customers). Upfluence's Live Capture connects Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce or Klaviyo and can run back over past customers (Live Capture, retroactive analysis). Ask both demos to run the same export and count the creators found.
- Choose when you judge a creator. Before the deal, on audience quality, or after it, on paid orders. HypeAuditor is strongest at the first, Upfluence at the second, and the metric you pick decides the tool.

What tells them apart
Depth of the audience check
HypeAuditor's score combines engagement, the share of real people among followers, growth patterns in followers and followings, and comment authenticity, and its own article warns against choosing on the score alone (AQS article). Upfluence screens brand safety and shows audience data, but its pricing page sells the programme around the creator: outreach, shipping, codes, payments (Upfluence pricing). An agency that has to defend a shortlist to a client leans on the first. A brand running 40 affiliates leans on the second.
What happens after the yes
Upfluence carries a creator from the match to the payout: unique codes for Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce or Amazon stores, a sales dashboard, and validated commissions sent as payment requests, with a recommended wait of at least 15 days to allow for returns (homepage, commissions article). HypeAuditor tracks clicks, sales and revenue per influencer on connected stores and handles proposals and samples (ecommerce page). It covers the campaign; Upfluence is built to run a standing programme.
The shape of the contract
HypeAuditor subscriptions recur monthly, quarterly or annually, and stop if you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends (cancellation article). Upfluence's minimum is 12 months, with a dedicated account manager from day one and no mandatory setup fee (Upfluence pricing FAQ). One fits a team testing creators for a season, the other a programme that will run all year.
Pricing, as far as it is published
Neither vendor lists a price, checked on 26 October 2026. HypeAuditor's pricing page offers a demo and a free account with media plans, campaign management and demo versions of other features. Upfluence's pricing page sets out three modules, Find Creators, Scale Programs and Auto-pilot, quoted as a fixed platform fee that takes no percentage of sales. So the comparison you can make before a call is the one in the list above: your commissions, your customer list, your term.
One AI step: AI Scout from a campaign that sold
HypeAuditor's AI Scout can start from a past campaign instead of a written brief, and returns up to 50 influencers with a short reason for each (AI Scout). Pick the campaign whose creators drove the most orders and let the agent find more like them. It uses AI credits only once the search starts, so refining the brief in chat costs nothing. Then a person takes over: open the full report for each of the 50, drop anyone whose real-people share or audience country misses your bar, and rate each result's relevance in the tool. Nobody is contacted until that person has read the report. On Upfluence, the nearest step is its MCP server, which lets Claude or ChatGPT search creators and check audiences, still in beta with access on request (Upfluence MCP).
Ad labels, creator data and what GDPR allows you to keep are covered in the creator vetting use case.
Choose HypeAuditor if your job is
- Proving a creator's audience is real before a fee is agreed.
- Building shortlists that an agency presents to clients.
- Buying month by month while a creator programme is still a test.
Choose Upfluence if your job is
- Turning customers who already post about you into paid affiliates.
- Running codes, product shipping, commissions and payouts for dozens of creators in one place.
- Committing to a year-round programme on a fixed fee.
Each has an entry here: HypeAuditor and Upfluence.
The free check first
Before any call, run the creators who already posted for you through HypeAuditor's free Instagram audit, and set each result beside the orders their code brought last quarter. If the audits and the orders agree, a vetting subscription buys speed rather than insight; if they disagree, you know which question to bring to which demo.
Both vendors also put a call between you and a number. Upfluence sets up its free trial only after a first call, and HypeAuditor's pricing page is a demo request (Upfluence pricing FAQ, HypeAuditor pricing), so the first figure you hear arrives after a salesperson has learned your team size and volume, the inputs the quote is built on. Write your own ceiling down before the call.
FAQ
Can HypeAuditor run an affiliate programme?
It runs campaigns with promo codes and affiliate links on Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento stores and tracks sales per influencer (ecommerce page). For commissions, payouts and tax forms at programme scale, Upfluence's Auto-pilot module is the more complete kit (Upfluence pricing).
Does Upfluence check for fake followers?
It lists brand safety screening and performance and audience data in every module (Upfluence pricing), and its MCP beta can validate audience demographics. HypeAuditor's reports split followers by authenticity and score audience quality from 1 to 100, which is the deeper check (AQS article).
Which covers more networks?
HypeAuditor reports on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, X and Twitch (homepage). Upfluence searches "all major social media", in its own words, without listing them on the pricing page (Upfluence pricing).
