The short answer: if marketing owns the bot and its job is to qualify visitors on your website, Landbot is priced for that: Starter is $45 a month on monthly billing for 500 chats, and Professional, $110 for 2,500, adds HubSpot and removes the branding (Landbot pricing). If support owns it and the agent must act on refunds and account changes, Botpress is built for that job, and its Plus plan is $189 a month on monthly billing for 250 conversations, or $150 billed annually (Botpress pricing). Both read on 26 October 2026. Same category on a review site, different owner inside your company.

Before you switch:
- Run your volume through both meters. For example, 400 conversations a month. Landbot Starter includes 500 chats for $45; if every one uses the AI Agent, 300 past the 100 included AI chats add 300 x $0.10 = $30, so $75 (Landbot pricing). Botpress Plus includes 250 and adds 100-conversation packs at $65, so $189 + 2 x $65 = $319, with $25 of AI usage included (Botpress pricing).
- Start from the system that answers customers today. If it is a help desk with a queue and agents, Botpress replaces or feeds it; new workspaces get its own helpdesk, Botpress Desk. If it is a form on a landing page, Landbot replaces the form.
- Choose the one figure you will judge it on. Qualified leads per 100 chats for a marketing bot; conversations closed without a person, read and confirmed by one, for a support agent.

What separates them
Who it is built for
Landbot is a builder for marketing and sales flows: buttons, questions, scoring, a handover to a person in a shared inbox, CRM connections from Professional (pricing FAQ). Its AI Agent block sits inside that flow, answers from a knowledge base and hands control back when one of your exit conditions is met (AI Agent guide). Botpress calls itself an AI-native customer support platform whose agents take real action on refunds, account updates and multi-step workflows (Botpress homepage). One is a better form; the other is a support colleague.
How a conversation is counted
Landbot counts a chat once per user per 24 hours, across channels. Botpress counts any exchange with at least two messages from the user in the billing month, counts a conversation that spans two months in both, treats each anonymous session as separate, and counts AI-only and human-assisted conversations the same (Botpress pricing FAQ). A support thread that runs across the turn of the month is billed twice on Botpress; a visitor who comes back two days later is billed twice on Landbot.
Seats and teams
Botpress Plus has three seats; Team, at $939 a month on monthly billing, makes seats unlimited and adds routing, role-based access and team analytics (Botpress pricing). Landbot sells seats at $25 a month each on top of the plan, and Business starts from five (Landbot pricing). A support desk of eight people reaches Botpress Team quickly; a marketing team of three never needs it.
Prices on 26 October 2026
Landbot, US dollars, monthly billing (pricing): Free $0 for 100 chats; Starter $45 for 500; Professional $110 for 2,500; Professional WA $220, which adds your own WhatsApp number; Business by contract. Annual billing saves 20%, and accounts billed from the EU pay in euros.
Botpress, US dollars (pricing): Free $0 for 100 conversations with no top-ups; Plus $189 monthly or $150 a month billed annually, 250 conversations; Team $939 monthly or $750 billed annually, 1,500 conversations, packs of 100 at $50; Enterprise by quote. Storage add-ons are $40 a month.
One AI step: the agent escalates, a person takes the ticket
Botpress documents human handoff on Plus and above (handoff guide). In new workspaces it runs in Botpress Desk; existing workspaces install the Human-in-the-Loop integration. When the agent decides a conversation needs a person, a ticket opens in the dashboard. A teammate selects Assign to me, answers the customer directly, and selects Resume Chatbot when it is resolved, handing the conversation back to the agent.
Test it before launch from the agent's preview: chat until the handoff triggers, then answer your own ticket. Write the escalation rule plainly into the agent's instructions, such as any refund above a set amount or any customer who asks twice for a person, so the human check sits where the money and the anger are.
Start on the free plans
Both free plans are enough for a first test. Landbot Free gives 100 chats a month with the full builder and a WhatsApp test number; Botpress Free gives 100 conversations with no top-ups or overages. Load last month's twenty most common questions into each and count the ones answered correctly without a person.
Botpress Plus works differently once you pay: a $65 pack is added the moment the account passes 95% of its quota, the FAQ says that auto-recharge cannot be turned off, and the pack stays on the account month after month until someone removes it in billing settings (Botpress pricing FAQ), so one busy month can quietly set the price of the quiet ones that follow.
Choose Landbot if your job is
- Replacing a website or landing page form with a conversation that qualifies leads.
- Sending scored leads into HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or Zoho.
- Letting marketers edit flows without an engineering ticket.
Choose Botpress if your job is
- Resolving support tickets end to end, including refunds and account changes.
- Running a support team with routing and roles on one platform.
- Paying for conversations with AI usage included, not seats.
FAQ
Is Botpress free to start?
Yes. The Free plan covers 100 conversations a month with three seats and three AI agents, and it stops at the limit instead of buying packs (Botpress pricing).
Does Landbot charge separately for AI?
Starter includes 100 AI chats a month, Professional 300 and Professional WA 500, and each one beyond is $0.10 (Landbot pricing). The AI Agent block is not on the free plan.
Can I stop Botpress buying conversation packs?
No. Its FAQ says pausing conversations would pause the product, so instead it warns you at 75% and 100% of the quota (Botpress pricing FAQ). Remove packs you no longer need in billing settings, or they carry into the next month.
